And the NHL Season starts in 2 Hours. FINALLY. Been waiting a long time for this. I am going to making picks all year. I will make a play on every game and every side this year. But not all of them will be picks. If it is a Lean then that means thats what I think happens but am not betting it. Montreal Canadians @ Toronto Maple Leafs I almost flew back to Canada today for the game. Like I have said before this is a Top 10 if not Top 5 Rivalry in ALL SPORTS. Montreal added 3 well known players this year. Camalleri, Scott Gomez & Brian Gionta. All of them can put the puck in the net. Toronto added 1 natural goal scorer but he wont be playing until November. But Toronto added size and toughness. Toronto is going to be a NASTY ASS team this year. They are going for the scared tactic. They want the teams to be scared to play them. I expect a couple fights and I expect a fight in the first 5 minutes tonight. I also expect everyone to be on the edge and it really matters how the referees call this game. If they are anything like last year there will be a lot of penalites tonight. Both goaltenders can be AMAZING at times and BRUTAL the next. I expect a lot of goals tonight. Washington has great offense but little defense where on the other hand, Boston can score with the best and defend with the best. Their goalie, Tim Thomas, is a little psycho if he lets a couple goals in and Washingtons goalie Varlamov was brilliant in the postseason. We will have to see if that goes into this season. San Jose should get an easy win but this is opening day and this is on the road. San Jose got a Top 10 Goal Scorer in Danny Heatley but gave up Cheechoo and Michalek. It will be interesting to see how Heatley vibes with his new team. Both have great ones in Luongo & Kiprusoff. This should be a real low scoring game but a fun one at that. NHL Monday, October 5, 2009 Well only 2 games today. A little upset since there was NONE yesterday. These games seem interesting tonight and should be close games in both New York Rangers (1-1-0) @ New Jersey Devils (0-1-0) Lundqvist is off to a nice start. Playing two good offenses and only allowing 5 goals so far. On the other side, Brodeur, only playing 1 game, didnt look too good. That comes to question is he past his time. Only time will tell in this situation. Devils who dont have a great offense are probably going to have a hard time scoring on Lundqvist tonight. They are going to have a hard time scoring on anyone this year so Brodeur is going to have to be their person. I see this game going to OT as well either a 2-1 final or 3-2 final. Lean - New York Rangers 1 Unit Play - Under 5.5 -120 OT Bet - This game will go to Overtime YES +320 Columbus Blue Jackets (1-0-0) @ Vancouver Canucks (0-2-0) With all these talks for the Canucks and the Stanley Cup, they havent lived up to expectations. I know they were on the road for 2 games but this looks like the team from last year. Great goalie, tough defense but no goal scoring. They started to pick up in the 2nd half last year but when your goalie goes on a cold streak they are going to start losing. Other than their stellar goaltending, Columbus is not the best of teams. They have possibly the most underrated player in Rick Nash but that is it. The under is really nice but with that juice at -135 im not touching it. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 Another full day of hockey. Tampa Bay Lightning (0-1-0) @ Carolina Hurricanes (0-2-0) Both teams are looking to get their first win tonight. Two complete different schedules though. Carolina on one hand has played two teams favored to win the Eastern Conference where Tampa got handled by a lower team in Atlanta. I think Carolina is by far a better team with a superior goaltender. Both have great offenses but Ward is better than Smith and that should be the difference. 1 unit Play - Carolina Hurricanes -150 Lean - Over 6 Ottawa Senators (0-1-0) @ Toronto Maple Leafs (0-1-1) The Battle of Ontario rivalry gets started tonight. These are two teams that absolutely hate each other. Just like the previous writeup, both teams are looking for their first win. Tonight will be the ANTICAPED start of Jonas "The Monster" Gustavsson career. He came in against Washington and played 2 periods stopping 16 of 19 shots. Ottawa has lost 3 straight at the ACC and I expect it to be pushed to 4. 1 unit Play - Toronto Maple Leafs -120 Lean - Under 6 Washington Capitals (2-0-0) @ Philadelphia Flyers (2-0-0) These are two of the hottest teams out there. Both teams have high hopes this year and neither have disappointed so far. Tough game to call for me. Washington has come out HOT with 10 goals in 2 games on the other side Philly has only allowed 2 goals in 2 games. Philly will try and muscle Washington will their hitting and try to get them off their game. This is one of those games that matter how the refs call it. If they call it tight, Washington will win this game. If they call it loose, Philly will win this game. Lean - Philadelphia Lean - Under 6 Montreal Canadiens (2-0-0) @ Calgary Flames (2-0-0) Montreal is one of the suprises so far this year. A suprising 2-0 have come with wins @Toronto and @Buffalo. They still have another 3 games on the road before they get their first home game. Calgary is exactly where they expected to be. Beating their two big rivals to start the year and they are looking like a team that really has a legitimate shot for the Cup this year. This is a real interesting game to me because Montreal has suprised me alot. They got plenty talent on this team with a decent goalie in Khabilbulin. Dallas is very top heavy this year. Great talent at the front of the lineup but nothing else back. I think Turco is over the hill as well. Now Edmonton has a great head coach and I expect big things this year. 3 Unit Play - Edmonton Oilers -135 1 Unit Play - Over 5.5 -110 San Jose Sharks (1-1-0) @ Los Angeles Kings (0-1-0) This was every expers surprise team of the year in the Kings. Im still not sold on them especially after their horrible performance against a Phoenix Coyotes team that didnt have a clue where they were going to be playing. Wednesday, October 7, 2009 Another short day today with only 2 games but tomorrow is a HUGE day. 12 games tomorrow Phoenix Coyotes (1-0-0) @ Pittsburgh Penguins (2-0-0) Talk about 2 teams that are on the total opposite page. On one hand you have the defending Stanley Cup Champions that are looking to repeat. Where experts are comparing them to the Mid-Late 80s Oilers teams. On the other hand you have a team that has no fan support, that has no Owner and isnt sure if they are going to be moving. The Penguins havent looked like the dominating team that they are but they are winning. Both games are by 1 goal. Phoenix had a suprising win. I think Pittsburgh wins this game but with the -185, I dont want to touch it Lean - Pittsburgh Lean - Over 6 Montreal Canadiens (2-1-0) @ Vancouver Canucks (0-3-0) Vancouver fans are already getting angry with this team. The media has been creating a chaos out there and so has the fans. Luongo doesnt look the same and the team is taking way to many penalties to win games. Montreal has suprised a lot of people so far. Carey Price is playing the way they need him to play and that top line of Montreal (Camalerri, Gionta & Gomez) is almost unstoppable. This team sort of reminds me of the early decade Vancouver Canucks when they had the Naslund, Bertuzzi, Morrison. Boston hasnt played a game in 5 days while the other hand Anaheim was in Minnesota 2 nights ago. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 Interesting Day today. Really Interesting. Only 3 games but I like alot of them. Calgary Flames @ Columbus Blue Jackets Well Calgary is 6-0 against the Over to the start the year. Columbus is 2-2. This game is very interesting to me because Columbus has played well so far this season and Calgary has started a 2 game skid after that EMBARASSING loss last night. I cant not go against the Flames over but Im real nervous bout this one. Lean - Calgary 1 Unit Play - Over 5.5 -110 Detroit Red Wings @ Buffalo Sabres Another interesting game here. IMO the wrong team is favored. Buffalo has been low scoring all year and winning all year. But Detroit is still a good team.
