Phrasing. He made electrical providers winterize but not the natural gas providers that supply the fuel. Guess where the failure was? My question is as rhetorical as your comment was tongue-in-cheek.
Just finished at Hurtado BBQ. They only had the brisket left when we got there at 12:45 but it was the best I've ever had. Thanks for the rec!
This house has an amazing pool. It has an underground equipment bunker and has geothermal units that heat the pool. When it was built, I advised the owner that he might want to look into getting a pH monitor and acid injector installed on his pool as the 2 salt systems on his pool were constantly raising the pH on the water routed through his almost $100k in geothermal heating equipment. Instead of installing the monitor, he fired the pool builder (also owned the company that was cleaning the pool) and had me remove the salt systems. I was not rewarded with an astronomical amount of money for my good deed. Just a thank you for letting me know. I could stand at that intersection and see about 10-15 customers’ homes if not for the trees.
I’ve been following this girl on Tiktok from Dallas who listens to great music in the background. She introduced me to the Turnpike Troubadours. This red dirt genre feels life-changing.
https://www.texasmonthly.com/bbq/smoked-pork-chop-1845-taste-texas/ anyone live near flower mound? I am intrigued by this pork chop...
I used to live in that neck of the woods. Never made it to 1845 before we left but Marty B's is legit. I miss that Texican tamale cake.
It's an odd numbered year, so time to move. Seems like it'll need to be grapevine, southlake, or trophy club for work/meemaw proximity. Is there an obvious less of evils between the 3, knowing public schools are in the future?
I’m in Keller. I’d say just avoid Roanoke. Grapevine and Southlake School Boards are being attacked by J6’ers but I believe BNISD is still normal so of those I’d choose trophy club.
City of Irving had technical difficulties with their fireworks show in Las Colinas Tuesday evening, so they sent out a message that they were going to explode the leftovers at 1:00. However, they started at 11:50 and for the last 25 minutes it’s like we are in London in 1940. Office building is shaking and it’s so loud you can’t hold a conversation. we were here Tuesday night and it was a pretty good show so I can’t imagine what they had planned instead
Wife and I are in Dallas this weekend. Any good lunch/brunch spots I should visit. Staying at the Thompson.
Loro -bbq Asian fusion Mercat- French bistro Sloanes corner- American bistro 400 gradi- Italian are all pretty close
Welcome to Big D! The Thompson is a great hotel, unfortunately it’s downtown which means most places you’ll want to eat are a very quick Uber (but not far). A few spots just next to the Thompson are not bad “grab and go”. Lunch/Brunch (Nicer/White Table Cloth): -Beverly’s (Knox Henderson) -The Henry (Uptown / Victory Park) -R&D or Hillstone (same owner, essentially the same) (Preston Center) -Bistro 31 (HP Village) -Sadelles (HP Village) -Knox Bistro (Knox Henderson) -Toulouse (Knox Henderson) More Bar//Casual: -Skellig (Knox Henderson) -Halcyon..very good coffee, quality brunch (Lower Greenville) -Old Monk (Knox Henderson)
Any good recs for thanksgiving catering? I’ve done Terry Black’s last few years but family want classic Thanksgiving feast this time around.
Funny this is the only thread I've started that's still going. Also started "Animals Being Dicks" but that's been gone awhile.
The HEB by my house is probably 2-3 months away from being finished and I’m so ready to tell Kroger and Tom Thumb to eat my ass
Goddamn would love to do this but would think my ass family was allergic to spices and moisture the way they typically “like” their turkey.
Ended up having to cut the trip short so it was only 24 hours. Had lunch at Sadelles, which I thought was solid. Great people watching. I would have probably wanted to do something more local, but my wife wanted to walk around HP Village and it was the shortest wait. We did dinner at Monarch and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Probably the best service I’ve had at any restaurant. Thanks for all the recommendations.
Hello friends. I'll be in Dallas with the family in mid-Feb. Some great food recommendations itt. Anything that's a must-see or do? My oldest two are teenagers so anything that won't be met with an eye roll gets bonus points. Thanks in advance.
