He also wrote a book. Im sure he has to do press for it, but hopefully he can start churning out podcasts
Any reminder that MacArthur was an A+ psychopath is a good one. In other news, Dans book was released today. I’m not an audiobook guy, but considering he’s narrating it, i figure It will be like a long podcasts episode.
Looks like it could be incredible. Him talking about people having to rip the headset off because it was too intense has me intrigued.
Apologies for the bump, no word on next Supernova episode (that I’m aware of). Anyone listening to Revolutions series on the Russian Revolution? I just finished the second-to-last episode “The Spark” and am laughing hysterically at Trotsky converting to Marxism to impress Sokolovskaya in college before he’d even read Das Kapital. We’ve all been there, Leon, we’ve all been there.
hey ducface show me were Nancy prlosi or barak Obama signed a peace deal between Israel and palastein ? and when you do . then give your opinion ok ?
Ok. Probably still better than listening to that annoying stuff you should know guy. Had two hours of no internet so had to dig through things I downloaded last year. I do wish common sense would come back. This seems like a perfect time for it.
I think Dan is struggling w his idealized libertarianism being co-opted by a racist moron. The nice hypotheticals of libertarianism aren’t what they’re cracked up to be in practice. The last common sense he did, he couldn’t bare to acknowledge we’d be better off if HRC won, but was disgusted w the ‘principled libertarians’ that voted Trump in.
He’s basically admitted as much. Pretty sure I remember him saying he has gotten what he wished for and he’s not happy about it.
hes someone who has read about what every model of governance ends in under the worst case scenario so I don't 100% fault him for his stance over the series I've listened to, but it shows he did seemingly gloss over a lot of political theory for straight history. glad he's been forced to reckon with it cause his shit is good overall. hopefully he'll lean into it more especially as his peers have done so, even if it's just doing historically contextualized political theory explainers.
We wanted an outsider, but much like the rules for wishes in the movies, we forgot to be fully specific. So we got a narcissist spoiled child. It would truly make a solid movie/Amazon series. Trump isn't, by any stretch of the imagination, a libertarian.
He also said at one point he did not see the point of Common Sense any longer with the current political environment.
Which has never made sense to me. I would think that this is really the time where a rational voice would be most useful.
He would need to do a couple episodes a day to keep up with the abuse of power and deterioration of ideals
He seemed frustrated. When he started it was a lot of people debating and having political ideology discussions. He mentioned over the past few years it has devolved to just the far left and/or far right yelling at each other and him no what the topic or discussion. It's has he mentioned if people won't even agree to "facts' how do you have a rational discussion.
with all the flaws of the newsroom (the tv show) there Will shouts about people choosing the facts they want now
I think he fell prey, as seemingly many people do, to thinking that the shit tier conversation that happens on the twittersphere is at all representative of real life interaction. We're all frustrated but it increases the frustration when voices of reason go away and more voices of extremism take there place. seems like precisely the wrong move on his part.
I agree. Wish he would do it again but would hard for him to try and stay in the middle like he does with what is going on.
Half way through it. It’s a MSM media criticism about creating a divide, but mostly he’s doing a both sides argument. Not too surprising but weak and disappointing. idk why he felt this was worth getting off the sidelines for, just to be a fence sitter
Yeah and acting like a true honest media outlet would be perceived as anything but well left of cnn is insane
seeing Duncan keep things completely honest and Dan kind of softly dance around has been enlightening
More frustrating than enlightening. It's like he cant admit to himself the far right as co opted libertarianism or that it's a flawed ideology. Especially when it seems like above all else, he's a civil libertarian, and you can be that, while admitting the racist fascism style of libertarianism the right embraces.
