Of course I get my copy delivered 30 mins before I have to go to work. Tomorrow will be filled with jubilance and all the expletives.
It is so damn difficult not to want to watch people play this right now, but I want my first playthrough to be blind
With my favorite game being demon souls, I'm happy firelink shrine is its own separate hub. Was hoping each throne would take you to different levels, though.
Also, spent way too much time in firelink shrine. Had no clue where to go. It did net me a sweet weapon, though, by exploring around. Spoiler Uchigatana from the guy outside.
Something I wish I had known when I started ... Spoiler if you go outside from the 3rd level at the shrine, can sprint at the tree, jump off and get on the roof. Extra estus shard and stamina ring up there without having to drop 20k on the door.
First time playing this series. Tried for like 30-40 minutes to beat tutorial boss. Gave up....will try again tonight. I was warned it was a tough game but shit.
Dude, I'm a vet of the series and I'm catching hands on this one. The bosses aren't so bad so far but the mobs are a bitch. Hyper aggressive and hit like a truck. And pro tip for anyone who finds them self turtling with a shield. If you face an npc type like a dark phantom, they will guard break that shield and riposte you and it fuckin sucks. I really hoped that wouldn't be a thing in this one but it most definitely is.
so what's the deal with me not seeing summon signs all the time? it would be great to not have to constantly be summoned away to try to reset my game world so i can actually see them.
Ember has to be up to use summoning. Pop one of those and you should see summon signs everywhere. Also, to avoid hollowing ... Spoiler Buy the 1000 sewer key for the undead village from the girl vendon in the hallway right before the blacksmith, use bonfire to the Cliff Underside Bonfire. Take the path until you're across the bridge from the where the Giant is shooting arrows from the tower but go right before crossing the bridge where those fucking guys throw the cauldrons at you. Drop down into sewers, first door on the left before the giant rat in the fog leads to a prayer station, can reset your hollowing number there.
Spoiler definitely new about the jump because a streamer did it but i didn't know that's where that key lead. luckily i haven't bought the key yet. is there anything at all up there that can't be grabbed with the jump?
Spoiler You still have to eventually, but it's nice to get the estus and ring to start out with. There's a soul up there that I am not sure what it does and an armor set. Fire keepers I think is what they are called
Stick with it, keep in mind the game is programmed to punish any kind of flailing or greed hits (going for 6 swings in a row). If the shield is draining your stamina, try rolling to the right and left. With the larger bosses, rolling backwards usually gets you killed. If this is your first From Software game and you are using anything besides a knight, you're going to have a bad time. Level Vigor, Endurance and Strength early, makes the game a lot more forgiving for beginners. Once you get the hang of it, can reroll some other classes. Also prepare for an experience unlike any other game. Really nothing gaming wise I have found that is quite as cool as beating a boss you've died to twenty times or finally unlocking a shortcut or bonfire with a level you have had to restart over and over.
Sorry man, that sounded kind of rude by me.. Wasn't a big deal at all. In response to spoilering stuff, not the above.
They aren't playing games this go around, I consider myself a souls vet and always play deprived. But I'm getting my ass handed to me haha
It's keeping me up way too late. Difficulty ramps up dramatically ... Spoiler After the snowy bridge, holy shit, so much tougher.
Is lvl 45 with a +4 right after Spoiler watchers moving at the right pace or is it too fast/slow? I think perhaps ive leveled too much.
You're in a good spot, advice about next level in spoiler, Spoiler Make sure to hit smouldering lake, great titanite shards everywhere so can be +6 going into, what feels like, the 2nd phase of the game
Any recs on what my damage stat should be by that point? I think Im quite a bit behind in that regard.
I always recommend improving survivability before pumping into damage. It doesn't matter how hard you hit, if you can't roll away or take damage, you are gonna have harder time. Plus damage can be raised by improving a weapon.
also i'm missing a firelink npc despite triggering it to show up Spoiler sirris anyone have any ideas?
You are in a good way dmg wise for a while. Like Cza says, upgrade till plus 6 and pump some more into end to raise that stamina bar. Explore explore explore and maximize your ring slots
i agree but i haven't really noticed an issue with stamina yet. getting my vit high enough to fast roll with a sword/shield build was most important to me and a hilariously large health bar was next. i'm working on faith too but it's fine for now.
I take forever, Usually after every boss, clean out the prior two areas for all the hidden stuff. At 10 estus flasks at +6 going into Spoiler Irithyll dungeons. As far as spec goes, at 25 vit, 25 end, 19 str, 18 Dex (+3 ring) and 20 faith. 15 vigor and the rest at starting. Level 55 I think, 21 hours in. Backtracking today, then moving on tonight. I might even get the Pyro going again before I finish, see who I want to take it home with.
25 vigor 25 end 19 vit 17 str 22 dex. +6 going for a 30 30 quality with a little pyro in the mix for pvp. Lvl 55ish also 22 hrs in
Since we are discussing spec, I just found a hidden area that allows for Spoiler respecs . Holy shit this game is great.
Faith is because I want dark weapon and to chuck lightning bolts. The heals are awful, like 1/3 of a bar and take 5 seconds, but they help early on for sure.
Let me know if you want directions to check it out. I already fucked something up when I got there so couldn't test it.
I am leaning twords directions if it comes to pass that stamina is Bloodborne op. Which seems like a possibility
Directions inside. Spoiler Cleansing chapel bonfire, take the elevator up. Once outside, take a left and another left, climb the ladder. Hop down on top of the roof and run up. It takes you back inside the chapel, but on the beams near the ceiling. Look for a place to fall on a stoop and then to stairs. Bunch of blobs in the area, at the top, open a giant door and you are in Rosarias bedroom. Join covenant and pale tongues trade for respecs.
