I'm going quality build and it seems straight up longsword is the way to go in the little research I've done. I'm not too far in cause I've restarted a couple times. (Deprived, Knight cause I was struggling, back to Deprived cause I'm not a bitch)
hilarious thing that happened earlier Spoiler i was in the room just before the crystal sage boss room. i had just summoned eygon when i was invaded. so i kind of stand over by where eygon's summon sign is behind those pillars, kind of but not really plus i'm wearing white and should be very visible. so i wait and dude quickly comes running in right passed me up to the fog gate, turns around, and runs right back out. both myself and eygon were very visible, guy must have been retarded or blind.
Invasions have been weird, had a guy the other night just watch me progress through a level and then bow and leave. Guess he was just scouting through a zone he hadn't been? No idea, was a new one for me.
Beginner question. Finally beat the tutorial boss. Should I level as high as I can? It let me jump from 9 to 12. Should I be saving souls for something else?
Ive been spending them all on levels and the leftovers each time on arrows and firebombs. Speaking of, firebombs are the tits this time around.
Definitely spend your souls on either leveling or items, cause there's a good chance you'll lose them as a new player (veteran too...).
I spend the extra on spells for later in the game, leveled Pyro up to 3 on the Knight so have unlimited fire bombs with the FP regaining on damage ring. Keep a staff on me for sniping instead of bow, just easier than worrying about how much I have in storage.
Fuck all of Irithyll and especially fuck Spoiler Pontiff Sulyvahn, lot of ppl will quit the game on this boss. Wicked combos, fast, huge range, total nightmare. Took me 3 hours and who knows how many attempts.
i'm really not looking forward to that. when i was watching streams i thought it was an end game boss but nope. fucker is ruthless.
Never a good sign when there are two NPC summons stones outside the area. He's an easy Co op. Just a tough solo. Have to keep him at a distance. Reminded me of Spoiler Watchers of the Abyss fight on roids. And HGH. And Angel dust.
i'm not sure i could have even beaten that one without co op. souls bosses with multiple enemies are usually bad news for me. unless it's like witch of hemwick or mergot's wet nurse.
I'm doing the same build (deprived/quality) at around level 50 and still using long sword. It's the best I've seen so far I think.
Is there still a +\- 10 souls requirement for invasions? Or is it still that other ds2 way? Bc I figure at level 50 I'd be getting invaded by decently built peeps by now but everyone that comes in on me seems way underleveled.
I do not like the sword art stuff replacing parry on some of my favorite old school shields. Just got a black knight shield and its base stats are great but I hate not having that parry option
Im not sure about the invasion parameters, but last night I was invaded 4 times outside the area with 2 giant crabs. 4-0
Typical Souls, but I am still using fire longsword with only a handful of bosses left, the scaling just not worth it yet. Even the Raw Infused doesn't quite hit as hard as elemental, even with str scaling. Dark infusion almost gets there with Str/Faith scaling, but 297 to 308. Even with going through defense twice. It's the only mark I would give to the game so far, hundreds of cool weapons, no reason to use any until NG+. I did use the sword with cold damage attached in some fire areas, but that's really it at lvl 65 so far. Tldr: Pally build uses starter weapons most of the game.
Such an amazing part Spoiler on the last section of the boreal valley to Lando. That spinning staircase part was just an awesome little touch .
Spoiler Exactly, when Pontiff brings in that replica in the 2nd phase, it's basically sprint around to try and seperate them. That fight was fun, but frustrating. I am stuck on a boss kind of like that in the Bloodborne DLC, but Lady Maria isn't shit compared to Pontiff. Always the quick fast ones give me trouble, my shield work is horrible.
I keep waiting to see sharp or refined outperform my +4 firesword but they are way behind it seems to me (like 80 points). I assume it's just because my dex/str stats or my sword level is too low. What does the scaling get up to as you level it all the way up? at +4 its a C in dex/str just got a dark sword. At level one it looks pretty good. Not sure what it looks like leveled but it start with C str and better base damage than the long sword. the only negative is it might have a little slower animation and doesn't have the poke thrust thing
Really? it's so good and has a thrust attack. It's perfect imo. I don't like big weapons though, I went 1 handed Mace DS2 for NG and NG+1 lol, but blunt weapons were pretty op in DS2.
There's a gem that does B on str and faith, but I read it doesn't make a huge difference until 40 points and up. I love the longsword, the R2 hold attack is perfect, not so much the broadsword which is a running lunge. Also, hold R2 again after the thrust attack and does a swipe that does the same damage on backstabs.
It's really the best pve weapon. Stun lock with R1, back stab is a thrust. Which weapon are you using? It's a POS for PvP though, Dex build with some reach just murders me, slow rolling guys are all I have beaten so far. Got rekt by a Dex scyth build this morning. Like a complete beating with a backstab finish. Embarrassing.
uchi currently. i'm also a big fan of rapiers. probably will check out a scythe at some point, i hear good things. ultimately i'll have to find something with dex/faith scaling.
Learning curve on this game is high but I think I'm beginning to get the hang of it. Great game. Should I save gems or infuse them on my early weapons?
Early on 100% infuse a fire gem. Will double damage in the first couple of zones, mobs are fire weak as well. Just have a back up with dark Infused for some areas that are high in fire resist.
My gf came home 3 hours early so my planned drink while playing DS3 has become drink while watching TV with her, and play Drunk Souls 3 later. Many souls will be lost tonight...
Crystal Mage was a fun fight. Beat it first time, but the 2nd phase took a little bit to figure out. Would have been rough without the pillars.
I missed the crystal sage earlier on. I just went back and beat him easily. I haven't found a set of armor I want to commit to and upgrade yet and I've only upgraded one weapon. I'm scared of commitment.
Yeah, I missed crystal sage and the area after (which is really annoying) early and went back and finished that today.
undead settlement: Spoiler obviously i stopped the dude shooting giant arrows but when i went back later to try to find a fire gem he's unloading on me again. sup?
Just brought the fuckin feels. One of my favorite things that have ever happened in video games. I cannot stress that enough. Perfect
fuck irithyl. i'm getting completely slaughtered. can't even get to the first shortcut. can't deal with fire dudes or the knights.
Run through it. I hate doing that, but that level is easier to backtrack and those tall ghost things are tougher than some of the early bosses.
