Watched the first episode. Yep, I'm on board. It's probably because of the subtitles but this reminds me of Les Revenants.
I haven't watched yet but the reviews I've seen are glowing. Saying it will scratch that stranger things itch. Will probably slam it back Sunday
Watched the first four episodes. This is a very good show so far. The music, cinematography and the atmosphere they provide is incredible . Definitely a stranger things vibe but with heavier consequences
Finished this last night. Wow, I couldn’t be more impressed. I guess I can see the Stranger Things comparison but imo, this is a complete level above that. It’s one of the more original ideas I’ve seen in a while. Loved everything about it from the tone to the theme song. Really hope for a season 2. Shoutout TrustyPatches for the thread, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have seen it.
I agree it's definitely its own thing but I feel like it drew inspiration from shows like stranger things, true detective and twin peaks. But imo it's better than any of them. It sucks because I just wanna talk about how amazing this show is and it seems like it's generating no buzz.
Question. Do you guys prefer it will subtitles or just change it to english? I lean towards subtitles.
Just came on here to check and see if there was a thread for this, and of course TrustyPatches is the one that made it. Similar taste in video games and shows, I see . Everything about this show is amazing so far. Just finished Episode 5
It's so good and then episode 5 happens and you realize you are in the middle of something special. This thread should be 5 pages by now
I think I'm on episode 8 right now. Probably should have finished It this weekend, but was trying to power through Persona 5 (didn't finish that either). It just keeps getting better and better, though.
Just finished the last episode. I made a point to only watch one episode a day. I kinda wish this was a show that was released in the traditional weekly format just to have all the theorizing and discussion between episodes like LOST. This was incredible - easily my favorite thing Netflix has released and I love a lot of Netflix shows (American Vandal, Master of None, Stranger Things). I'm excited to do a rewatch and pick up on things I missed now that I know how everything fits together. This really should be getting more attention. It sucks that having subtitles is keeping more people from watching.
Yeah I made it like 5 minutes and the wife and I both tapped out. Seemed like a bad kung fu movie with the terrible overdubs. As soon as we switched to German audio with English subtitles it became brilliant. To me it was a mix of Stranger Things and Twin Peaks with a little Millennium mixed in. I thought they did a great job casting the different versions of the characters. I always get confused as fuck trying to understand the ripple effects within the space time continuum, so I just kind of went with this one and didn't try to understand all of the methodology.
Ulrich bugs the shit out of me. "Uughugguughh I've got to find Mikkeltits!...... he's my son and I must find him uughugguughh." Go fuck yourself ya knock off dolph lundgren
Yeah I thought of Mads as soon as I saw the guy's face. Got that severe bone structure thing going. So how is it that the music in the series was almost entirely in English? Is that a normal thing with European series, or did they redo the soundtrack with other songs?
Finished yesterday. Fantastic. Props to TrustyPatches for starting the thread. I probably never would have watched otherwise. Agree with this. I feel like I watched it way too fast. Didn’t really have time to digest what I watched before starting the next episode. Spoiler I was pretty sure early on that Mikkel was Jonas’ father but it took me a while longer to realize that the other guy was future Jonas. Other than the obvious questions about Noah, I want to know what happened to Claudia. What all did she learn from Bernd when she took over? What was behind that door?
So did Noah just never age, or did he only appear as his 40 year old self in different time periods because he was just navigating the wormhole?
Spoiler he's bortash or whatever imo. Also I think his age is a result of him mastering time travel. These are just theories ofc but I like them
Regarding Noah: I’m spoilering for obvious reasons but also because it’s a theory I have read. Spoiler I’ve read reviews/theories that say Noah could be Satan, the Anti-Christ or something in that realm.
Spoiler . He said in that story about a boy who showed up that looked like he was from the war so he could be from the future war torn timeline working backwards
Someone alludes to the Antichrist in the story. I think it's when future Jonas visits the sci-fi author.
Ive been rewatching it. This, imo, is a top five season of any television show I've ever watched. Maybe top 3.
Finished episode 5 last night. Spoiler Idk when others realized it but the Mikkel/Michael twist was great. It took me until this episode to do so (prob within 10-15 minutes) and by the time they revealed it at the end, I probably had a weird smile on my face. Great stuff. Cannot wait to keep watching more. Will do so after work tonight. No idea where this thing is going to go.
If I've seen a better show in the last year Im not sure what it is. This was so good. my one beef: Spoiler Wouldn't Hannah and a lot of other people in the town freak the fuck out when the Nielsen's had an identical looking child as her husband?
Just finished up. This the most engaging, well done thing Netflix has ever produced. Loved absolutely everything about it (after I realized you could change the audio back to it's native language). Cannot wait until season 2
I started it dubbed. Shit sucked so I barely payed attention through two episodes. Changed to German with English subtitles watched a couple more and got enthralled so I started over from the beginning because I had no fucking clue who was who in what timeline. Finished it last night. Loved it.
