Wont face felony charges https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-05-05/how-was-hollywood-bowl-security-breached-to-attack-chappelle?_amp=true
Mr Anti-Trans gonna become the leader of the fight against progressive DAs in LA, Boston, SF, Philly, etc
he’s proof that cancel culture isn’t a real thing. he just openly torments trans people for laughs and no one in “liberal hollywood” gives a single fuck
His next move apparently is to be the voice of a Chip n Dale - wife had to explain to me wtf this movie was because I had never heard of this. But anyways - yea, next gig is voice of a kids film.
spent more than I'd care to admit for tickets to see him in July and now I'm significantly less excited about it
Yeah, this is confusing, Chapelle did a guest hit with Mulaney and used that time to hammer out trans jokes? That's incredibly shitty if true.
dave chapelle is an incredibly shitty person. the millionaire narcissist in him took “stop punching down at trans people” as a challenge to do it more. he will keep making people hate us and keep getting standing ovations from crowds and keep getting hugs from other celebs because we don’t matter to society at large outside of pride month and the occasional days we set aside to say “please stop murdering us”
i feel that. i don’t say all those things as a lifelong hater. i loved his tv show. i loved his stand up specials. i pretended half-baked was actually good
it was a twitter thread but the user has since restricted their account because transphobia is rampant and unchecked on twitter
Yea googled and read about it. Pretty shitty. That's expected from Chapelle at this point but really shitty from Mulaney. People paid to see him, not Chapelle and his current day bullshit. I wish someone would have yelled for him to shut the fuck up.
It was either him or Hedberg for me when I was young but Hedberg died before he could ruin his legacy
I love me some Ricky Gervais. The OG The Office is the funniest tv show in history (imo). I knew he was kind of a cock which is part of the appeal. I didn’t realize he was a run-of-the-mill lazy cock like the rest of this space.
he seems to only have issue with men transitioning to women and not the other way around which is a weird selective kind of transphobia. Transphobes seem to be missing the option in their brains to just say "fuck it, leave everyone the fuck alone to live their life" Why do Cis folks as a whole care so goddam much
while I am not surprised by this heel turn I am disappointed bc by and large I really like his TV series work as a whole S1 of Afterlife is really well done I guess I will put him in the same box with CK, "talented fuckheads"
He's scared he might want to fuck a man who transitioned to a woman and he'd have to contemplate things he's not reconciled.
different yet still a 'talented fuckhead' sucks b/c i really like his shit seems like many of these top tier comics are deeply fucked up in some way or another (da doy, I know)
Their weird need to frame their ignorance as some sort of demented equal rights argument is baffling. In Chappelle's case, it's mixed with the fact he feels like trans rights are stepping on black rights. And more recently, because he has a "trans friend" that was okay with his shitty jokes, he can't seem to figure out that doesn't mean he can't hurt the rest of trans people by marginalizing them. For Gervais, framing it as defending women's rights...as a cis male...is a weak attempt at getting in on the trans joke act.
I am neither black nor trans, but I can understand a black person getting riled at the heightened (and quickly escalating) attention being placed on ensuring rights and protections for trans people while black people get steadily shit on by society (the reason CRT exists is because there has been systematic oppression of these folks for hundreds of years) So maybe you make one angry rant or bit about it and let it go. Point made. But riding that horse for 3 specials is excessive under any framing imo It's also not funny. So it does not even meet the bare requirements of comedy. There is a lot that can be both offensive AND funny, and his rants on trans stuff are offensive w/o any humor. They're mere dicketry
I was there earlier ITT, but there were some pretty good arguments made -- particularly that such a position ignores black and trans people's experience.
