BvS is one of the worst superhero movies I’ve ever seen I mean if you’ve read any comics pertaining to the characters you understand why it’s fucking garbage. These people didn’t give a shit about the source material they were working with at all
Count me among the ones that enjoyed Birds of Prey. The fighting choreographer was top notch (no surprise, since they used the John Wick choreographers).
Come to think of it, I don't really remember much about any of the DC movies except MoS, BvS, WW1, and Justice League. I think that's largely due to the first 3 being on TV all the time so I'll put them on as background noise when I don't know what to watch. Every other one I've seen exactly 1 time and was probably dicking around on my phone half the time. I only remember a lot of Justice League because I kind of saw it twice due to the Snyder cut.
I've rewatched the Batman more than I have seen the DCU combined. Only one I've even rewatched is the Suicide Squad which is excellent.
Truly Infuriating stuff, the worst part about it is. The time in the comics that this event did happen was Batman attempting to teach Superman a lesson and remind him of who he's supposed to be due to him becoming a government (Ronald Fucking Reagan's pet to be exact) lap dog. He didn't actually want to kill him
BvS was 100% rushed into production by WB because of the enormous success of the first Avengers movie. The hubris of thinking if our competitor can put out this huge blockbuster with B/C level characters, just wait until you see what we do with the 2 most popular ever! Especially when this Batman doesn’t even get a standalone movie first!
Even though it's maybe the single most mocked thing in all of the DCEU (other than maybe Superman's PS3 upper lip in the Whedon cut), I maintain that the "Martha" scene makes perfect sense and is a great idea. Batman sees Superman as an alien monster that needs to be destroyed because if he broke bad the world would be doomed, etc. I get it. They didn't have to tell that story in the first place, but they did so okay. How do you get Batman to see the humanity in Superman/Clark? You show him that he has a mother. A real earth mother. The fact that she has the same first name as Bruce's mother is an easy way to trigger Bruce into snapping out of his bloodlust. So while the movie overall is a mess from the idea to the execution, that one little thing is not what needs to be mocked. Also the black and grey suit in that movie is still the best Batman has ever looked in live action.
I actually liked Affleck as Batman and I wish we could have had the movie with Deathstroke and then the knightmare.
The Martha scene never bothered me and I agree with what your saying. I think the way Ben said "what did you say that name!?!?" is what took people out of it.
I never understood the Affleck hate when his casting was announced. He's always exuded a fake happiness while being miserable inside in real life just like the character, plus he's an avid fan so you knew he'd take it seriously. Jesse Eisenberg was a terrible choice for Lex Luthor though.
Yeah he sucked really bad. No idea what they were going for with him as Lex, but I guess that was the main thing with the movie as a whole
I was more excited thinking they’d utilize Affleck’s best strength, as a filmmaker, in the DCEU. But nope…
Crazy that they had 3 Justice League level threats they could’ve used for each phase and blew it. Brainiac, Doomsday, Darkseid
should've done Man of Steel 2 with Brainiac (end with a Darkseid tease), then Wonder Woman, then a reboot Batman movie with Affleck, then with some momentum, introduce Flash and Aquaman in their own movies, then --THEN -- do Justice League vs Steppenwolf, hit some sequels, bring in Green Lantern and maybe Martian Manhunter, before the big Justice League vs Darkseid film. Don't even touch Batman v Superman. Maybe the post-Darkseid stuff could focus on Doomsday, Knightfall, and other "hero at his weakest/most damaged" storylines, setting up a big Justice League III based on Tower of Babel or something. Oh well.
Do Justice League: Doomsday film as the 2nd JL team up and you lead right into a live-action Reign of the Supermen film. Then the 3rd phase leads into Darkseid and the Apocalypse Wars
Writers and directors thinking they need to change stories instead of adapting existing stories is DCs biggest problem. Marvel told the story from the Ultimates in act one, Ultron in act two and The Infinity Saga as act three. They make changes but kept the basic premises. DC felt the need to dive right into the Anti Life equation storyline without making us care about anyone other than the fact we knew them. It was super rushed and it showed.
It’s not worse than ww84. Maybe more of a disappointment, but ww84 is not even a serious attempt at a movie.
The only good that came from it was it was so shit it prevented Patty Jenkins from getting to make a shit Star Wars movie.
I was really high first time I watched it so I thought it was that. I’ve watched since the. And it’s just bad.
They know it made over a billion in December last time and are hoping for the same. Especially with not much competition.
Ya that’s never a good sign. Test audiences were confused. Apparently some of the latest ones were better.
