James Gunn is rebooting the DCEU, which will just be called the DCU. Superman Legacy in 2025 will be the first movie of this universe. However, stuff like the Matt Reeves’ Batman universe and Joker movies will have nothing to do with the DCU. They’ll be called “DC Elseworlds”.
Aquaman 2 is at 37% after 105 reviews, it’ll probably be in the 20s by the time all the reviews come in.
I’ll probably see it in a week or two after I get through the long list of actual good movies being released between Christmas and New Years
Damn was gonna go tonight but guess I’ll go for Sydney Sweeney movie instead and use my free pass you can’t use on opening weekends in Aquaman.
Aquaman 2 was just your standard bad comic movie Momoa has just become a caricature of himself and the CGI is almost Flash level bad. I didn’t mind the villain though.
Finally watched The Flash. Best I can say is I watched it. Gotta love WB “Hey, everybody hates our lead because he’s super creepy. “ “Let’s give him two roles.”
I started it the movie, turned it off. Honestly that version of Barry Allen is just insanely Annoying. I couldn’t do it, CW did it better imo
I actually really like Milly Alcock - I think she was fantastic in HotD and she's pretty damn hot. But... Buyer beware. She actually jumped from Dragon partly because she wasn't into the whole fantasy thing. It just wasn't for her. So what does she think being Supergirl in Gunn's new DC Universe is going to involve?
That was the part I didn't quite understand myself, but she was definitely quoted that she had no interest in coming back for S2 because she was done with fantasy roles for a while. Don't shoot the messenger - that's what she said a year or so back.
She wouldn’t be back anyways, the timeline has moved her character to another older actress even in season 1.
Yeah, I know - I'm just reporting what she said when she was asked about appearing in further episodes of Dragon and her comments about the fantasy genre: "I’m not doing any fantasy roles. I don’t want to do anything like that. I have done it and I don’t need to do it again. I am just kind of waiting for the right project. I am not in a rush to jump on something. I would rather work not a lot and do work that I am really proud of and passionate about. When you sign on to a project you have to get used to talking about it for six months or a year of your life, so you want to make sure you really adore it and I am waiting for that project to come along and surprise me."
Finally got around to seeing the new Aquaman. I enjoyed it. Big dumb popcorn movie with lots of action and a few jokes. Good visuals/colors. That’s the end of a failed era.
Hope you're right. I finally bit the bullet & am sitting through the trailers right now. Expectations are low.
I'm rather shocked. I thought it was quite... good? I kept waiting for it to fall apart, but it never did. Even Manta's very last scene (no spoilers) was true to the character and I just nodded and thought "yep". And yeah, it looked great - the set pieces were once again very strong. The only disappointment was the attempted humour which was awful throughout. I'm actually glad that's the last we'll see of Momoa in the role, because he's... not that good an actor and very corny. 3rd best superhero movie of the year for me.
Addendum: I think a large reason most of the movie works is Patrick Wilson. He is completely believable as Orm from the moment he appears on screen and plays the character straight, unlike Momoa who goes for cheap laughs most of the time. Manta also comes across as a serious threat and I wasn't sure which characters were going to get out of the movie alive.

As a 'genre', sure, but that's not what she's saying. She regards herself as a 'serious actor' that's done a lot of alternative work and wouldn't differentiate between the two.
Honestly wish I hadn't even seen that. Looks incredible. Sadly it will never happen. It should with the success that the Spider-verse films have had.
Finally watched Blue Beetle. Wasn’t expecting much, but I liked it. The supporting characters were annoying early on, but the movie was pretty good for a DC movie. Easily better than Black Adam or Flash. Glad the character is sticking around.
Using the Kingdom Come logo, or at least a variant of it is interesting. Kingdom Come was about an old Superman contending with a world of corrupt heroes. Based on the cast of characters, I wonder if Legacy will be about a young Superman contending with a world of corrupt heroes.
