yeah there are a bunch of other bars/restaurants littered along 17th. Should be plenty of people out on a Saturday night. There is a cool new cocktail bar that just opened up called Retrograde in Uptown. It's in the back of some ice cream place...like you actually open a freezer door and that is the "secret" entrance. Kind of a speakeasy setting.

we have about 4-5 hours to kill before heading out to red rocks. Eventually I want to make it over to colfax and hit twist & shout records and probably visit a dispensary for reasons. I'm not sure if there are any cool stores or anything here though. It's mostly uppity white ladies wearing lululemon

I know this is a loaded question, but best area to stay for a bachelor party? Probably going the Airbnb route. Imagine we'll hit up a Rockies game, go out one night, visit some breweries, grill out, etc.

Agree the suggestions from ANTWONE . Would also throw in Baker, which is more low key and has a strip of bars and restaurants along South Broadway. Much fewer bros, but much more hipsters. Depends on your scene. You'd still be a quick Uber to downtown or could walk to a light rail station and ride into downtown.

Cap Hill is also probably a good area with lots of AirBnB options. Walkable to Colfax and Uptown.

I would say Frijoles, which is a hole in the wall cuban place in Lakewood on the way to Morrison but think they close at 5 on Sundays. Close by where you were staying there is Tacos Tequila Whiskey on Colfax/York or Illegal Pete's (basically a local Colorado chain similar to Chipotle) if you want tacos. Fat Sully's (Atomic Cowboy) is good for a slice or two of pizza. There is one on Colfax/Adams St.

Since you are in Cherry Creek you could hit Cherry Cricket. Really solid burgers.

Yeah, ViewHouse near Coors is one.

Hilarious you mention that because I have a friend who gets these invites to Yelp events and they are having one at ViewHouse this Thursday. He was asking me about it and I told him it's the douche nation capital of Denver and I further proved my point by showing him an advertisement they created saying that if you reserved a table of 6+ you got a free bottle of wine while they showed the Bachelorette finale.

Sorry for your loss, my friend. I bet your soul dies a little bit tonight.

Going to be in Denver in early October, need some recs on hotels and some good food. only thing i know for sure that we plan to do is go to the broncos vs falcons game, so kind of want to stay somewhere close to the stadium if possible.

I'd probably start by looking into some AirBnB options, unless you have points to use with one of the big hotel chains.

Depending on area and whether you'll have a vehicle to get around will help us guide you on food but some that you're going to see come up over and over if you skim the last handful of pages is Linger, Acorn, and Root Down.

I'll check out airBnB, but i know absolutely jack and shit about the city, since i've never been before. where would i need to stay in order to be fairly close to the stadium?

i'm reading through the thread now, taking some notes. We don't plan on renting a car, we'll only be in town late friday night through monday evening.

Popular areas that are still going to be near the stadium either by quick Uber or by light rail will be LoDo (downtown), LoHi (Lower Highlands), Berkeley, Sloan's Lake, Baker, Cap Hill, Uptown.

If you go hotel route, you're pretty much going to be somewhere downtown. The surrounding neighborhoods don't have much as far as hotels go, which is why I suggest looking into AirBnB. When looking, I'd probably follow these general rules based on not having a vehicle and wanting to be able to walk to cool areas or have a quick ride to the stadium:

    Stay west of City Park
    Stay south of I-70
Stay east of I-25/85 if looking south of Colfax Ave (Baker, Cap Hill, Cheesman Park, Wash Park areas)
Don't go any further south than Sloan's Lake if looking at places west of I-25 (northwest of downtown Denver, so LoHi, West Highlands, Berkeley, etc.) and I'd probably stay east of Sheridan Blvd, otherwise you're going to get too far away from cool strips of restaurants/bars to walk to

Light rail runs from Union Station and pretty much follows I-25 south so if you stay anywhere along that corridor then you can take the rail right to the stadium. So LoHi, LoDo, Baker, Sante Fe Arts District, and the fringes of Platt Park/Wash Park will have stations near by. Also you could probably just walk from Sloan's Lake area to the stadium.

Probably a lot of info right there, but hopefully can give you a starting point. LoHi is probably the most popular neighborhood for those visiting since it offers a ton of restaurant/bar options and is a quick walk to downtown, light rail, and close to all major sporting venues.

I used to live in the Baker neighborhood, so I can offer plenty of suggestions there if you choose somewhere down there.

Put in an offer on a place in Midtown that I am absolutely pumped about. Anyone have info on the area? I don't think it's commonly referred to as "Midtown." Here is the area (links to a brewery in the neighborhood):

    Bruz Brews

Not much there now, but area seems to be growing. Close to light rail is a huge plus for me.

Find out tomorrow if the offer is accepted.

This weekend was the first weekend I've spent in downtown Denver and it only reaffirmed my future move to Denver. It's damn near paradise.

Have heard good things about Bruz, just haven't made it there. I love Belgian beers so I should make an effort. Right now that area is basically an industrial wasteland. It's either going to be a great thing down the road or flop. Anything east of Federal / north of I-70 is risky business at the moment. But being an early adopter could pay off in a big way in 10 years. Either way, hope you're able to find something that suits you. I'm only a few miles due west of that area.

Find your South Carolina alumni club in Denver. They should have info. Minimum cost is $15 to get access to food and some alcohol (I believe as supplies last). I'm involved with the Gator club here and there is this massive email chain with all the SEC clubs coordinating.

Would be happy to chat about William Larry Muschamp

Spoilered for length, but this is the general info that our club has been given. I believe Auburn is the main organizer.

    Where and When

The 2016 SEC Kick-off Party will happen Saturday, August 27, from 12:00-3:00PM, at Stoney's Bar and Grill, 1111 Lincoln St., Denver.

    Food and Drink

In keeping with tradition, we'll be serving up a full buffet of delicious house-made BBQ and Southern-style sides, and a soft drink. (Stoney's is also able to fully accommodate any special dietary restrictions you may have, including vegetarian/vegan, gluten-free, etc. Just let us know!)

If you're of legal drinking age, representatives from New Belgium, Budweiser, and Coors will be on-site and pouring complimentary beer while supplies last.

In addition to the complimentary beer, there will be a full bar with awesome drink specials coming your way courtesy of some sponsors still to be named.

    Other Great Things Happening

    - Dance it out to the live zydeco band!
    - For the kids--break our piƱata!
    - For the kids and goofy adults--we'll have two face-painters on site to cover your face with Gator colors!
    - Take your personalized picture in front of a UF landmark at Stoney's green-screen photo booth!
    - Compete against other SEC schools in organized cornhole and flipcup tournaments!
    - Grab yourself a free Red Bull from the Red Bull Mobile DJ Truck!
    - Enjoy free skeeball, pool, and arcade games, complements of Stoney's!
    - Hang out outdoors on the Stoney's patio, or chill out inside with Air Conditioning!
    - Meet someone new!

    Parking

Don't worry, there's plenty of parking! There are eight public parking lots within three blocks of Stoney's! Just look between 10th and 11th on Lincoln, 11th and 12th on Lincoln, at 12th and Sherman, at 11th and Grant, at 12th and Acoma, at the Beauvallon, at the Denver Art Museum, and at Colorado History Museum.

Of course, we also encourage the use of Uber/Lyft, taxis, carpooling, and public transit. Be safe!

    What Happened to the Picnic?

As you've probably noticed, the number of UF and SEC fans in Denver has grown exponentially over the last 10 years. This is great news, but it also makes getting the proper parks permits/insurance/security/organization extremely difficult. In the end, the united SEC schools decided that the best option for this year's event was to have a hosted party at an event space.

Please rest assured that we're very excited and hopeful for the quality of this year's SEC Kick-off event, and we've done everything we can to preserve the picnic environment--we're even bringing Grove tents!--and to keep the event fun and family-friendly.
