Yazoo is probably my favorite in Denver but always on the lookout. Haven't tried Boney's ever. What's good there?
Honestly nothing sticks out in my head as exceptionally memorable. Used to just do the pulled pork and brisket typically.
neither one of those responded and places have been booking like crazy this week so i locked in one last night that was insta-book. right in the middle of the Old Major/Avanti/Highland Tavern triangle. got B-cycle station and transit within a couple blocks. place is sick too for ~$100/night. I'm really excited for the trip just hope we get good weather
Highland Tavern is a solid neighborhood bar. Black Eye next door to it is good for coffee in the mornings. They usually have some pretty solid French macarons too.
Honestly my favorite spot is probably Roaming Buffalo BBQ down by the DU campus. They do a smoked pulled lamb shoulder that has been great every time and they usually have some sort of special everyday. They start selling out of the most popular stuff within an hour or two of opening at 11 so get there early to make sure you have a full menu to select from. Owlbear BBQ at Finn's Manor is also legit. They just operate out of their food truck set up out back. Bonus: if you're ever passing through Idaho Springs, there is a spot called Smokin' Yards that is a clutch spot to fill up after a day out in the mountains
I'm visiting next week Rockies game and art museum are at the top of my list along with food, beer and whatever else you guys sell there
Posters in here go to Red Rocks often? Should we go out there a few hours in advance or do the party transport from Union Station that leaves an hour or so before the show? We're planning on hiking Friday to get that out of our systems. gonna be noodling like a motherfucker at papadosio after the kentucky derby
I don't know if you've heard of bus to show but we did them all the time in college. They gut school buses and fill em with couches and audio equipment. They pick you up at Cheba Hut downtown, get you there with ample time to tailgate and bring you back for ~$25. Not really sure what kind of crowd you want to run with but they are a blast.
Crowd is gonna be crunchy brahs which makes for a good time. I saw an AIG+CID shuttle from Union Station is that one good?
Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand the opening day obsession some people have? In a month baseball (and the Rockies) will be an afterthought in Denver. I get people just want an excuse to get shitfaced but I guess that isn't my idea of a good time anymore. With that being said, I'll be jamming at a concert at Cervantes tonight
Me and my best friend are flying into Denver April 28th and want to check it out before we head to Colorado Springs for the weekend. What are some good things to do/experience? Will arrive at 7:10 am
Thats the crowd on bus to show. I haven't heard of the aig+cid shuttle but I would much rather want to be picked up and dropped off at union station than Cheba hut
Driving from AL to Seattle, spending 2 nights in Denver to try and break the trip up as much as possible. Going to be there next Saturday and Sunday, got an airBNB right between Berkeley and Highlands. Looks like the Rockies are out of town, unfortunately. Since I'm there for such a short amount of time, what are 2-3 must-hit restaurants and a few breweries to choose from in the area? Is most everywhere dog-friendly?
DBC's Sun Drenched is probably my favorite beer of all time. Had a really good food truck Friday too called The Saturn Pit Stop.
Linger and Avanti are both closeish to where you'll be staying. Torchys is always a can't miss in my opinion. RiNo has a bunch of different breweries in the area. I always had fun at Ratio, but I'm not a huge beer coniesuer so my opinion is shit.
Been waiting for that opening for a while. Trying not to set the bar too high, but will almost undoubtedly be jam packed all the time just on reputation alone.
Pretty sure my friend is working there as she works at Linger and Ophelias occasionally. I'll be out there for a week at the end of May so looking forward to checking it out.
My buddy who just quit working at Linger (not out of animosity, just got a better non-restaurant job) is really pumped about El Five. Pretty pumped myself.
Driving in from Dallas tomorrow, in perfect weather I'd arrive around 5 pm. How bad is the snow going to be? Am I F'd?
Had some shitty conditions around Golden tonight and heading west on 70. Cleared up more around Idaho springs. Now currently outside of Breck and it's pretty dry. No snow coming down right now. Basin in the morning
Got to lower lot by 7:30, prime time spot and no problems. Sucks for everyone that got caught in that traffic. Heard they shut down 6 at Keystone at one point
Great time visiting this weekend. Thursday - Got there and ate at Thirsty Lion by Union Station bc we rode the light rail in and it was the first place we saw and we were starving. Not bad at all. did a cool little 420Tours sushi and joint rolling class. just a really cool experience, two things that the GF and I love (we've been wanting to try and make sushi for a while) and a good introduction to the recreational weed scene. One guy next to me was there with his girlfriend for her BDay and bought a pre-rolled cone that was fucking giant and held a half Oz of green. it went around the room of ~18 people about a dozen times. Most weed I've smoked in a 2-hour span in my life. Would do this again if it were available here. Got Ice cream Riot for dessert on the way home and didn't go out bc early flight and shit Friday - Breakfast at a Kombucha bar right by our AirBnB (american cultures IIRC) had a fire breakfast burrito and great tea Went weed shopping for the rest of the weekend's supplies - really cool experience altogether Rode out to Golden to hike the North Table Mountain. Nothing serious just was an easy location, not too far away that could be out there, hike, chill, and get back for afternoon Cinco activities Spoiler Small lunch at some outdoor patio spot on the main drag in Golden + dessert at Golden Sweets Girlfriend picked dinner: Osteria Marco. delicious, good atmosphere, great service Saturday - Brunch at Denver Biscuit. Solid recommendation. I'd eat there a lot if I lived in Denver. Walked around downtown for a while Went by Avanti for a mid-afternoon snack and beers Got ready for RedRocks and went to hangout at The Douglass with 47 straight 's buddy that got us some shrooms for the show Red Rocks was the shit. Hiking up to the venue from the lowest parking lot where the party buses had to park... fuckin A. Easily the best outdoor venue I've ever been to. that view is surreal, even before funky psychedelics kicked in and took it to overwhelming. Spoiler Accidentally slept in and had to be at the airport by 11 so didn't have any time for anything on Sunday. Definitely will be making another visit to see more out there.
I thought the trip was headed down a dark and unfortunate path when it started off with Thirsty Lion, but really nice recovery. Solid weekend you pulled off.
Been living in Denver for about 4 years now. Currently live out in Golden. The wife and I are in love with CO, we are never leaving. Some of my favorite spots around (biased towards Golden)- Cannonball Creek Brewery - really chill brewery with multiple gold medal winners. The beers are some of the best I've ever had, anywhere. Miners Saloon - awesome bar in Golden Abejas - best restaurant anywhere in Denver IMO Devil's Food - one of my favorite brunch spots in Wash Park Odd 13 - great beers, but it's up in Longmont There are more.. this is all that's coming to mind. Anyone have questions on Denver things? Hit me up. Anyone want to talk about Denver things?
Random question... we've been applying for places in denver for a few months with little luck. Is there much industry in golden, or do most people work in the city and commute? Got married at boettcher mansion in 2016. We love golden.
Obviously you have Coors There are several other companies out there as well. A few engineering firms (because of the university). Not sure what your field is, but I work downtown and commute back and forth. Traffic is never that bad, much better than dealing with i25.
