Nah, that's what makes Destiny PvP unique. Regardless the sandbox isn't why it keeps getting cancelled.
it keeps getting cancelled because it’s so god damn bad that people would rather sit and do literally nothing instead of play it. If it were to be eliminated tomorrow 98% of the player base would blink an eye. The fact that attempts to correct and “balance” such a shit game mode have a giant ripple effect through the rest of the game (and especially the PVE side) is outrageously fucking stupid.
People try to circumvent it because they have no chance of winning. It definitely needs some tweaks. I personally would rather see them fix it rather than scrap it. PvP already gets shit on and it needs an endgame mode. The way it's constructed just doesn't work current. Only the top 1% even stands a chance in there. But they've been balancing the sandboxes separately for the most part so that part isn't even really an issue.
I loved trials in D1, dunno why this one is so bad. Think the player base has a lot to do with it. There just aren't enough people to match with.
Not enough people, the top end players are just flat out better now, wildly different sandbox that really isn't designed for a competitive mode, etc. It needs to be completely redesigned. I like Showdown more than Elimination. Also rewards need a complete change in how they are given out.
Tried to two-man the master presage; not sure how people solo this thing. It's so hard without having anarchy.
Don't run raids enough to get spoils. Have been holding them, but still like 100 short I should try LFG more.
I haven't been using anarchy. Granted I haven't solo'd it but have done two man. I've been using Witherhoard for ad clear, Vouchsafe for the void shields and long range use, and a code duello with lasting impression for the big stuff. And using chaos reach. Chaos can take a full bar of the final bosses health and I can super him on the first and third bar usually.
how do you solo the presage but where you have to flip a switch to bring down the electric wall thing? is there actually enough time to get through it?
Are you talking about where you have to shoot the fuse on the wall to bring down the electrical field?
You flip a switch that opens a small door exposing one of the blue fuses (its on the opposite wall - right below the blue electricity wall). You can shoot it from beneath the electricity and then easily hop up before it comes back on.
Bungie really needs to find a way to incentivise more people into Trials. It was so much better yesterday because of how many people were going after Igneous Hammer.
And how many of those were just trading wins to get to 3 and then reset? The system is broken. Either separate PVP or do away with trials altogether.
I didn't see any win trading. Don't even think it's possible now. Can't rejoin once you back out. Everyone we matched were genuinely trying to play. Was a good time. And again, don't see how separating PvP has anything to do with win trading.
Bruh...Check the LFG. It’s all recovs, win trading & staged lobbies for quick flawless runs. I’m glad you enjoy it but it’s a mode that serves literally a fraction of a percent of the player base. It’s inherently so out of balance and broken that the amount of people just cheating it is like 100X the actual legit player base. Even just last week something like 60% of the people that made it to the Lighthouse had 0 kills across their cards.
some random thoughts: 1. did trials last night. and by trials i mean we mostly just immediately ran into the death zone to get that one drop. eventually we accidentally got a win because it ended up being a 3v1. after that we picked up repeatables and "tried" (but not really). in ~23 matches we ran into 3 groups who were taking the death zone approach. 2. trials is terrible. because A) one of the friends and myself are good enough to be the third best player on a team that can sometimes get to 5 wins, B) one of the friend's i play with is very very not good enough to anything at all, C) they use the worst 3v3 game mode, D) fuck hand cannons 3. anytime i find myself going back to attunement of sky with sunbracers, witherhoard, warmind, and RL i think "yeah, this is definitely the most fun way to play casual pve content." 4. anytime i play a hunter i think "how did i main this trash for 5 years" 5. i hate using a controller 6. i welcome the removal of the power grind 7. this is the best season in possibly...since we started having seasons
I wouldn't mind seeing Trials changed to showdown. I really enjoy that mode. Although I don't think it would change any outcomes. Good, coordinated teams would still always win. What trials needs is loot incentive to keep more people in the playlist. The more people in the playlist the better for everyone. Also I hope these stasis nerfs Tuesday help but I have my doubts. Stasis is the worst thing to ever happen to this game and if I had my way I would remove the shit entirely. I don't even like using it in pve. Also, I was inspecting you guys last night when you were running trials and one of your buddies for a damn god roll Igneous. Lucky bastard.
at one point the clan leveled up when we threw a match. not sure if that was just when it gave us the notification or if that's actually what did it, but i found it funny regardless. yeah i think mouse got a couple of really good one. captn and my rolls were complete shit, we both got the exact same trash roll on two occasions. honestly i was impressed. i got the exact roll i wanted on the messenger, which i would actually use, so i don't mind missing a good one on hammer because i would never use it.
also, though i didn't have a problem with it regarding weapons, sunsetting was awful for armor god roll collecting. oh i have to at least get a god roll each season to be sure i can slot all of the mods. ok cool. no thanks. cleared out most of the armor in my vault last night and only kept the best of the best. it felt nice.
Then removing sunsetting has given the game new life for me. I had basically stopped chasing god rolls because of sunsetting. It just wasn't satisfying when it had an expiration date.
I really wanted a quickdraw/snapshot roll. I got rapid hit rampage which is definitely nice. Got a few two taps in Trials with it.
We’ve been over this. The game mode, it’s functionality and way it’s designed is fundamentally broken seemingly beyond repair. The many proposed suggestions to fix it are either not possible or summarily dismissed because of the ripple effect they’d have through the entire game. By detaching the PvP & PvE elements entirely (or hell, even just comp.) Bungie has FAR more latitude and freedom to balance weapons, supers, subclasses etc and keep the game mode from becoming the laughably out of whack pile of shit it is.
I think from a balance perspective it was okay before stasis came along. But stasis is just a cancer that is infecting the entire game. It sucks in crucible, it sucks in Gambit, and its whatever in PvP. They are already balancing a lot of the stuff separately. I'm fine with the game all being shared. It's what makes Destiny unique. If I wanted a perfectly balanced game I'd go play Siege or something like that. That's not what Destiny is supposed to be. But stasis is just awful to play against. It's worse than the two primary meta as far as sucking the fun out of things. I just think trials needs some tweaks to get more than the top 1% incentive to go in there. Bungie listened to the sweat lords about the rewards and now nobody else goes in there because it's mostly a waste of time. I'm a pretty decent crucible player. Diamond elo and all that BS but even I don't stand a chance in a lot of those trials matches.
i'm wanting to start fucking around with ticuu's divination. problem is all of the kinetic special weapons i use are exotic. don't have the raid shotty/sniper. any ideas about another sniper i can use? definitely prefer snipers over shotguns but i'm also fine with running one of those if there are no good pve kinetic snipers. fucking somehow the ONLY legendary kinetic special i currently have is astral horizon.
