i was trying to make a post but my phone died and apparently it posted what i had typed anyway. so yeah, nothing major, just the master nightfall at like 1327. one of the guys is not great so theyve been very hesitant to try anything. but ive been annoying enough lately that they decided to just try that. first run i let them run what they wanted because i knew they'd complain about not doing so. it didn't go very well. after i told them to switch to bubble and tether. easy clear. 25 min which i thought was really good considering the situation. and they seemed to enjoy it. so, progress in making them competent enough to raid.
Nice. I think the biggest thing is just being adaptable and not getting too frustrated. One of the guys you played with seemed pretty into the game. Was it Magnanimouse or something like that? He seemed to know his stuff. I will say I'm going to really miss anti barrier sniper rifle. It's been so nice this season.
yeah he's really into the game and is a pretty good player, he's very bad at learning raid puzzles. but if he can be slotted into an easy role there are no problems. the other one, cptn, is not so great. he plays on a giant tv while laying on a couch. game sound through the tv. no raid experience at all. doesn't really do any research. doesn't even put mods in his guns or armor unless one of us makes him do it. we did eventually take one night to force him into a decent pve build that he sticks with so thats been a bit of an improvement. but he seemed to enjoy the harder content and was pretty competent with bubble, even though he never remembers barricade. it was slightly promising.
Yeah all the stuff he doesn't want to do is what makes the game for me. Putting builds together and feeling that progression. Feeling your player get stronger and beating difficult content. We just finished conquerer last night and I really enjoyed it. Was finally able to talk some guys into doing the GMs and they seem to like them too. It's like figuring out a puzzle. Figuring out what to run and when to use supers, etc. I really enjoy it. Going to try and gild it before the season is over.
Saw a good thing on Reddit about how the GG should have included stuff like SRL and other random/stupid games. Just doing bounties and playlist activities is just like every other week in Destiny. I miss SRL.
they already have 4 maps. it would be so easy to add. maybe remove gambit for it if necessary. dont think anyone would miss gambit.
I don't hate Gambit but I also wouldn't miss it if it were gone. I wish whatever resources go towards Gambit would just go towards crucible instead. Although I'm pretty sure they haven't dedicated any resources to either in a while.
I played a shit ton of Gambit chasing Bottom Dollar rolls. I don't hate it, always a good place to work on catalysts.
Same here. Then I got a good Igneous Hammer and quit chasing it. Although with quickdraw getting nerfed now I really want a surplus/rampage Bottom Dollar but I don't know if I have it in me to chase it. The chances of getting the roll you want are microscopic.
I picked up a Surplus/Explosive Payload Bottom Dollar the other day, all it's missing is a range MW. That explosive payload flinch is tough.
I would be excited with that roll too. I have surplus/wellspring with a range MW. It's pretty solid but I miss those two taps I get with my IH. Surplus adds so much stability too. Makes my 120 feel like a 140.
yeah the two taps when rampage is proc'd is tough to beat. My only Igneous with Rampage is Rampage/Subsistence/Ricochet/Full bore.
I am ready ready ready for the 120 nerf. I don't want it nerfed into the ground, but 140s need to be usable in 3s. A full cat Ace with Memento Mori can barely compete but that's about it.
Same here. 140's have always been my favorite archetype but they have always been second fiddle to some other weapon. Whether it was the Howl twins back in y2, 150's, or 120's now. I just want my Hawkmoon and Pali be top choice a little while.
I don't have a Pali I'm just in love with for 3s. But I would love to see Ace jump back on top for a while.
I've got some pretty good rolls so far. I have a quickdraw/rangefinder adept Palindrome that has hammer forged/ricochet rounds. The stats are nuts. I have 80 range and 75 stability and I can use an adept range or stability mod for an extra 10 in either if I wanted. I wish I could get adept icarus but it's trials only unfortunately.
Gambit in only bad if you care about winning. I like playing it but ignore the results. I try to bank/take out blockers/go after invaders but at this point I don’t expect anyone else to and we’ll either get stomped or stomp.
I was going to try and farm a few more palis last night but my nephew's baseball game went 13 innings. Oof.
Sucks it won't be back around for a while but also glad we are getting new nightfall weapons next season.
I don't see how anyone doesn't love them. So fun to use. I wish we could get a meta shift in pve. We are going on 3 years of smgs being dominant in pve.
Also smgs are kind of worthless in really difficult content because you can't that close to an enemy.
Not saying I want smgs nerfed. I just want other guns to feel as viable as they do. They are the only primary that feels like it has a good ttk currently in pve.
if i want actual range i'll go with a pulse/bow so i can kill minors with one burst/arrow which hc struggle to do. the last hc i enjoyed using in pve was TDYK. yeah, seriously that long ago. they just bore me and i think in all situations theres a better option.
That's the thing, they used to kill minors with one crit. But bungie decided that shouldn't be the case anymore. Either way you are kind of at the mercy of bungie on what options they give you each season for champions and unstoppable hand cannon seems to be quite common. So it would be nice for them to be a bit more viable in pve.
bows are definitely viable. sidearms and pulses are kind of viable. scouts have a very specific role, a role that is better handled by a bow. autos are probably in the worst state of all primaries. i will say that i would like to try out a hc with firefly and disruption break. could be wrong but i dont think that exists.
I’m not big on HC. Most of it is probably because I don’t have the patience to use the right mods. Agree with Odin that they feel clunky and take foreverrrrr to reload.
The cynical view is that hand cannons don’t one crit red bars anymore because Bungie wants you to buy finishers. I share that view. I’d like to get back to hand cannon PVE but don’t because it feels like I’m handicapped by that. Low mag size/slow reload and two shots for trash? Nope. I like full auto scouts lately, particularly the raid scout. It’s like a low ROF auto with scout range plus sundering glare. Not sure what I’ll do next season. I’m not playing high level content due to time right now anyway so it doesn’t really matter.
I still mostly just use ikelos SMG. Lately I've been bored so I run around with other stuff just because, GL or Fusion. High level content I almost always use the raid sniper then whatever secondary I need for champions.
Handcannons are always going to be viable in PVE as long as there is unstoppables. I would rock a pulse for unstoppables if they would stagger on one burst. There should always be a ranged and close champion mod. Something like this: Overloads: Bow/SMG Barrier: Scout/AR Unstoppables: Pulse/HC Then IMO, expand the ability of the 6 point Special champion mods like they did with Snipers and barriers this season. Overload: Fusion Barrier: Sniper Unstoppable: Shotgun Bungie says play your way but then puts you in a box with champion mods.
im not sure i agree with this but i also dont disagree with it. finishers have been a really great addition to the game imo and, much like with armor and weapon skins, you dont have to buy them. all in all, if hc pve viability died to give us finishers i am fine with that sacrifice. they added a lot of movement tech and felwinters helm is still stupidly under the radar op af.
man it sure would be great to have some permanent champion mods so we arent forced to use the flavor of the season mods.. another point, which exotics ate innately anti overload or unstoppable? barriers have some really solid options there.
The worst part of HC sucking in pve is the goat PvE HC comes back next season and will be a shell of its self unless bungie tunes the sandbox.
I really wanted an overflow/one for all but every single time I got overflow it was with high impact reserves and those two don't even work together.
The Leviathan bow has unstoppable and so does Devil's Ruin. Divinity is the only one with overload that I can think of st the moment.
