also if you're on Series S/X make sure you're game is properly installed or you delete the old DLC crap Bungie listed otherwise you wont be able to connect to the servers today

It probably does become tougher but I prefer the aspect of the game of playing with friends online, even if it makes it a bit more difficult. Playing with others online is a big part of the enjoyment for me.
For sure. It does make it more fun. I've already experienced this shit hole campaign once and I'd rather not experience it again anytime soon.

posting this here because length. my thoughts on lightfall. as always, will be numbered because i like lists. thanks. 1. meh 2. no srl 3. but things that make me want srl more. 4. strand itself seems fine but cooldowns need work. 5. actually, cooldowns just need to be full reverted to what they were last week. massive overcorrection for no reason. i play destiny over other shooters because of space magic. guns should complement abilities but not be the focus. if you want to have pvp without ability spam then FUCKING BALANCE IT DIFFERENTLY GOD DAMN. or even just have abilities turned off for some modes. or hell, embrace the fucking identity of your game. 6. neomuna is uninspiring but it's....fine. those expecting a warzone to be densely populated are drunk. i do like a lot of it honestly just not enough verticality. 7. all of the neomuna related story is garbage. cloudstriders are poorly designed and nimbus is one of the most tone deaf characters ever. 8. what is the fucking veil, jfc. why am i fighting so hard to protect this thing. no one knows. does bungie even know? 9. it's become clear that we have two different things going on here. 1. a main story, 2. self contained expansion stories with a very hit or miss quality. 10. what have they done to lake of shadows 11. the strand grind is unnecessary. i was told this would be easier than stasis. 12. ikora and zavala had fucking weird ass reactions to the final cutscene and i dont understand it. 13. the post-campaign stuff isn't particularly interesting but it's better than the campaign 14. the season of defiance stuff actually seems really good. that defiant battleground is probably the best seasonal activity i've played in a long ass time. very enjoyable. 15. i don't care about weapon reskins. literally couldn't possibly care less about anything. i have no clue what most of my guns look like. 16. guardian ranks are a joke and it was probably the thing i was looking forward to the most. 17. new mod system is an improvement long term but it came in very underdeveloped. lot of major mods were changed to fragments thus limiting their usage, and we didn't even get additional fragment slots, not that that would have solved problems like heal thyself being only solar now. 18. no srl many of these problems can and will be fixed, the community is loud enough to see the changes we want. the mod system isn't beyond recovery. ability spam nerfs aren't either. nor are guardian ranks. however, the disastrous lightfall campaign will always just be what it is. and there's still no srl.
I swear some stuff must have been cut or something. The story just makes zero sense. So poorly done. The new strike definitely made me think of srl. The mod system isn't as bad as people say but it's definitely an overly simplified version of what we had and not nearly as flexible.
oh. OH. speaking of the new strike, it's the only thing with setting appropriate music. literal synthwave city with orchestral music. that's not what i signed up for. mod system is definitely excessively simple but there are ways in which it's both more flexible and less flexible. needs some work for sure but overall i support the direction it's going.
I think overall they are trying to take abilities and the builds back to a base level that lets them tinker from there. Which I get. My biggest complaint was just the story. It's like some Fortnite kid wrote the dialogue. So cringy.
I have no idea what was supposed to be in the story so I don't know what's missing. Seems fine to me so far. I do like the backstories we've been getting lately. The story of Saint 14 they told a couple seasons ago and how the fallen use stories of him to scare their children was awesome to me.
most all of the problems i have with lightfall can be fixed, and likely will be. the campaign though, total mess. the story of the campaign and the story of earning a new class really shouldn't be the same thing. i'm pretty confident our next subclass will be whatever yellow/orange/brown bullshit calus's crew uses.
At this point I'd rather there not even be another sub class if the result is Beyond Light or Lightfall.
