Im going to play it, dont know when but i will. Will probably wait a day or so, long enough for Datto to tell me if it sucks so i know how to approach it.
Yeah because his refusal to critique D2 or Bungie was losing him subs on YT and getting him absolutely skulldrug on Twitter. He then does an about face at that point but that’s even more of a reason for me not to trust a thing he says.
i still can't stand stern. i'll check the dlc out eventually. still God of waring...maybe soon enough if you guys seem to like it.
Got a message from a guy who has been playing D2 religiously since release: "Hey they brought back the Suros Regime!!"
I just don’t get it. A 2 hour story DLC that we paid $20 for. With a recycled story mission for one the strikes. And whatever the raid lair is. I know Bungie and all the content creators have said this wasn’t the update that’s going to fix things. But this is bad. I’ve spent a LOT of time playing Monster Hunter in the meantime waiting for a reason to come back to Destiny. Guess what I’ve gotten in return? • Multiple crossover events from Capcom, including Street Fighter, Megaman, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Devil May Cry (all with different gear: some armor, some weapons, some merely cosmetic) • A new monster to fight with all new armor and weapons • An even cooler monster to fight which came with its own new map and random rolls on perks of weapons that you can earn from it. Oh yeah. This was a collaborative battle that involved every person in your lobby. • Gear that is worth grinding for. Not only is it fucking cool looking, but every piece of gear has a different set of perks that keeps you playing the game in different ways. • A grand event that brought back EVERY single thing that you might have missed in their weekly (yes, I said weekly) events. Guess how much I have spent on content after initial purchase? I’ll give you a hint. It’s the same as the amount of respect that I have for the current presidential administration. Fuck Bungie for all of their continuing apathy towards their fan base. I hope this all bites them in their ass.
THAT is another problem that Bungie didn’t address. They had their “summit” of content creators and didn’t even think to involve us normies. That entire part of the community is so incestuous that they literally repeat everything within themselves ad nauseum, and Bungie thinks they speak for all of us.
Yeah Bungie has essentially made the people who make their living off the game, the voice of criticism for their game and these guys spend 90% of their time trying to convince everyone nothing is wrong and that it’s our expectations that need help.
I gave it a shot today. I don’t like the level progression. I don’t think there is much to grind for. I have better games to play. I’m not sure Bungie can ever win back my favor. And I’m sad about it. I spent 3000+ hours on Destiny 1. This feels like a bad breakup, but I’m moving on.
Yeah I’m giving it a go (against my better judgement) and immediately jumped off to play Fortnite. It’s a shame where the game is gone because the game (mechanicals speaking) is such a pleasure to play. No FPS around comes close to the moving and shooting of Destiny. Fingers crossed for a great BL3 I guess
i'm shocked they used another recycled strike as a story mission after the criticism last time. i mean come on... i'll play the dlc just to finish it and be ready if the reviews are actually good come fall expansion, but this is yet another thing i'll just play for the couple of hours and probably be done with based off all you're saying.
i just finished the last DLC. its not terrible, just pretty repetitive. havent even messed with anything post story. didnt catch my interest like i was hoping. i as well put a shit ton of hours into D1.
I understand, appreciate, and share all the issues everyone has with the game, but I still get enough from it to keep going. I'll chug along with what I can and probably won't get to the cap (and that's ok), but it's unfortunate that I'll probably miss the best stuff with the raid lairs as we just don't have the group to do it with anymore and finding a whole other group to get in with at this point isn't that appealing to me. I'm definitely not at the place where I'd LFG it.
with D1 i had such a big group to play with. D2 it was hard to get enough people together, at the same time, to complete a raid. now, i imagine it'll be impossible to get them together because none of them play it anymore.
I was never able to get a group together to even do one of the raids on D2. As soon as new ones dropped everyone would already have done everything and made it through the raid and went on to other games.
Brother's in Arms series was solid, Battleborn would have been good if they would have released it on any other week other than Overwatch.
I gave it another shot last night, just because I didn’t want to base my opinion of it off of a 4 hour game session. So I fired up the Heroic Strike playlist. “Oh. It’s LL 350? I’m 345. This should be fun”. It’s some sort of solar burn, so I throw on some solar mods and switch to Dawnblade. Check my fireteam. It’s 2 guys roughly the same LL as me. Neither running solar subclasses or solar weapons. That’s not a good sign. They proceed to die. A lot. I also die. But do not get revived. Make it to the boss (the Cyclops thing in that circular arena). One wipe. I see on the death screen under orbs created “ACHIEVER76 - 29, Rando1 - 2, Rando2 - 0”. Granted, I’m using masterwork weapons, so my orb count is a little inflated, but seriously guys? Two wipes, no super usage by them. I send a PS msg “Use ur fucking supers” which in my mindset at the time was really quite constrained. They just bail. 2 other guys join and we beat it first go. It took 48 minutes, but at least we got it done. My rewards for beating a LL 350 event? Some LL 335 blues. Why the fuck couldn’t it at least be 350 shit? And LL in the way that Bungie has implemented it is only a hinderance. It never makes you stronger. You get to the LL of the thing you are doing, and that’s the max damage you will ever do there, no matter how much of a difference there is. I tried Escalation Protocol. Only 4 people in my instance. Don’t even fucking bother. I watched streamers yesterday get 9 people into one and it was the most convoluted thing ever to just get them all in the same instance. Bungie: Hey, you know what would be cool? If we had an event where it is pretty much necessary to have 9 people to complete it, but let’s make it virtually impossible for solo players to play it effectively. I mean, our player base is soooooo strong right now. I’m sure every clan has AT LEAST 9 players on at any given time nowadays. Raid lair looks ok, but I’ll never do it, because I’m never going to grind to a viable LL for it. I don’t understand the mindset of “We are hemorrhaging our fanbase. What should we do? I know, let’s slow progression to a crawl!” I can’t imagine anyone besides twitchers and ELO chasers reaching max level from this DLC. Because what’s the fucking point?
Yeah... I spent about 2 minutes on the heroic before realizing that it wasn't going to be worth the frustration at 345. ItsI a shame how much it's declined from d1
ive been playing a bit lately on pc solo just to screw around. i still enjoy the gameplay and the added things to do, but there are certain aspects which at this point seem to be the only things i can do which i'm like "im never going to do that because i know no one that plays." heroic stikes alone now are ridiculous. you basically launch into a random one and the people drop out immediately if it isn't one of the easier strikes. so you finally get into a good one where they play and make it to the end only to get your ass handed to you again and again because you're too low of a light level to do it now. and like you said, beating it gives you no progress at all either. even the legendaries that drop are only 340. add to that that my exotic quest for sleeper requires 5 heroic strike completions and won't count a single one due to a bug and that adds to my irritation. the grind is just too much for where the games at now. i liked doing some of the grindier things in 1 because people would be doing them with me and it'd be slightly easier and you could at least show off something that you achieved rather than only having it for yourself. now its like "hmm there's a quest for an exotic scout rifle, but i gotta do a million things that require waves of clears of escalation protocol which is impossible solo and i can't find enough people around ever to complete." raid lair will never get played. escalation will never fully be beaten. at best i'll get like 1 of 3 of the exotic quest rewards now. i understand catering to the hardcore to win them back, but they gotta understand that they've made it not hardcore in the game but the logistics alone are now for the insane just to get to the content. like you said between showing up in the same instance and finding enough people to do things it's like what's the point? to clear one event? who cares when you could have more fun doing something in another game. make tough content for 3 people, or have fireteams for patrol areas raised to 6 or 12 or something, with matchmaking, etc. player base too fractured and non existent for the content they're making.
I did my 3 heroics last night and it took nearly 3 hrs. Started at light lvl 343 and finished at light level 344. The way I’ve found to get my ll up is to do tcoo with one of my other characters and catch all the engrams that drop to light there as well. But idk if I can do it because tcoo is painful
I tried to get on and play some last night for the first time in probably 4 months. I did one public event with some friends and logged off. I played all of Destiny 1 without taking a break for other games (I fully embraced all of the grind), then I started D2 and quit a few months in. After taking several months off I just have no desire to grind.
I've found a very active clan, like 20 members on every night active. It's definitely alleviated some of the frustration of having to try and solo stuff, this game really does not cater to individual players. I've been playing a lot of competitive pvp too, which has been a lot of fun, even though I get my shit wrecked fairly often. Honestly, I've been having fun with this game for the past few weeks.
