PC or ps4? yeah, that was probably rough. Once you get above the light level they become more reasonable. Challenging but doable when picking the right day to do due to the modifiers (hint: any day with heavyweight is infinitely better).
PC has ruined PS4 Destiny for me. Going back is like trying to move through molasses. Much crisper/quicker play. Just missed out finishing the mission by literally a sliver of health on the last of 3 bosses. Half the mission is taken up by jumping puzzles. It's pretty great and terrible all at once; quintessential Destiny.
getting everyone from the old group through the whisper of the worm quest would have given me a migraine
it's tough, but didn't feel as hard as Black Spindle to me. The worst jumping can be skipped. A lot of it is brute force, banging your head against a wall, kill 2-3 adds/die/respawn/repeat until you can get some breathing space in the rooms, but overall the entire thing is fun. Definitely need to be higher level, though. I had the weapon and finished the heroic version for the catalyst before stopping last night. Still running it over today to help others through and get upgrade stuff needed for the catalyst. of course, slayerage had solo'd the 400 level heroic version about 8 hours after the thing became active. That guy is insane.
Why this shit so addicting? I bought it with the expansions and I’m already power 349, but struggling to get higher. And I need people for raids, damnit

You got lucky and missed the post launch debacle. The game took a major step back from D1. But it's seemingly back on the right track now and I think the Whisper of the Worm quest is one of the best things they have done with the game so far and Forsaken looks like it will be really good.
Haven’t seen the whisper of work yet. I’ve almost beat the Curse of Osiris, I also did a heroic strike last night where I received 1 Engram and just tokens, what in the fuck?
Heroic strikes aren't very rewarding outside of doing your 3 a week for the Milestone. I mostly run them in hopes of getting an exotic catalyst.
What’s your advice for leveling up then? All my loot/engrams are 343 or higher now, but I can’t get my power level past 348-9 for about a week. Also, it’s just me and a buddy so the raids aren’t possible without others
heroic strikes have a chance to drop gear up to level 365, so they're still worth doing. At your level, though, they'll be tougher and more time consuming and not terribly efficient. Raiding is the big thing that helps you jump up quickly.
Without raids your only real option the weekly milestones. You can also get the chest at the end of Escalation Protocol but at your current light that would be difficult without getting help from higher level characters. Since you are just now doing Curse of Osiris you can also do the forge weapons as those are high lever drops. Unfortunately Bungie really slowed down the light grind with Warmind. So it takes a while to level up.
