Here’s a good video of how great Sewell is. Shocked he fell to the lions
Holmes said they tried to trade up for Onwuzurike. Very glad they didn't and got him anyway.
Athleticism clearly very high priority with this staff and I’m here for that all day.
Kiper had us in his day two losers...
Most people that have us as losers are bitching about not drafting for need which will never make sense to me.
How do you make this point when talking about the worst roster in football
And why do people think a third round WR magically fixes our WR room?
And the other issue I have is people saying that we shouldn’t have taken two interior DL. We had one of the worst seasons statistically ever last year. It’s not like we added two guys to an already loaded room.
Plus all the wr people were hoping would be there rd 3 went rd 2. I didn't like our options rd 3
anyone got a best players available article they can link?
RB and taking another OT would be the only picks we could make that aren’t needs.
This is a nice draft. The only thing I’m dinging them for at this point is not acquiring more picks, but that may be coming.
Is the thought Sewell starts at rt? Can Crosby move inside or is he going to be a backup? Guard play was pretty week last year. Him or Vaitai starting on one side and Jackson on other?
Holmes said Sewell will be at RT. Vaitai will be RG I imagine.
I wonder if we move some of OL or DL for picks today.
Like that we traded back into the 4th.
Hell yeah. More weapons for Goff.
And I called it on St. Brown. Guy is high character player that battles every snap.
Honestly thought we’d potentially get him end of 3rd
I also appreciate getting a late 7 to force the beat writers to sit around six more hours.
Sub 6 foot wr who runs a 4.5+. Hopefully he's solid
Brad Holmes with a good draft already
that’s the best part. Haha
have you ever watched him play?
Not thrilled with these picks and trading up but not pissed either
We already have the extra one next year, and we should get several comp picks. I’m not a fan of trading future picks a lot of the time, but this time it makes sense.
Latest 2 picks
I want our last pick to be Ben Mason.
I'd double up on wr and take a flyer on Tamorrion Terry if he slid all the way to our pick. I know his production fell off a cliff last year, but fsu offense and team in general was a disaster and he didn't have any quality qb throwing to him. He was also battling injuries. But he is a big play waiting to happen. In the 7th round I'd for sure take a flyer on someone like that
Jermar Jefferson. Fuck yes.
He was certainly productive at Oregon State. I’m fine with it since it’s basically like a UDFA.
I'd give this draft a B. It was an A- heading into today. Not really a fan of the fourth round picks and I just don't think we should be giving picks away to move up. Should be doing the opposite. Also wanted some true pass rushers. But the first two days were very good and we didn't have any WTF reaches. Holmes has been good at finding starters in later rounds, so the guys I don't like will probably pan out and my guys won't.
I really like our picks in the 4th. St. Brown is exactly the kind of WR that Holmes and the Rams identified and evaluated well over the years and should start right away in the slot. Barnes is probably a project because he's inexperienced as a ILB, but has the size/speed to turn into something in 22 and beyond if they can develop him. He kind of seems like a shorter Baron Browning.
The trade up was the the right move, IMO. Would have been nice if we didn't have to give up the 5th rounder and could have gotten another decent player, but we're looking at having at least 5 picks in the first two days next year already. We're probably getting at least one or two more comp picks on day three next year. I think Barnes and St. Brown both have enough potential that it's worth giving up a day 3 pick next year given the picks we'll have.
Teams should almost always hoard picks imo. Especially rebuilding teams. In a vacuum it’s fine as long as Barnes is a stud. The process is dumb to me though.
Just going by past Lions history. Sewell will probably pan out, and the other 5 guys we took will be off the team in 3 to 4 years
The 2022 QB class is interesting because going into next year, Howell, Rattler and Willis will be among the favorites to be the top QB in the class, but they are all listed at 6’1”. Chances are one or more will measure shorter than that. Hopefully Holmes is able to look beyond that when evaluating the position but a lot of teams aren’t.
If no QB emerges as clear choices for #1, we gotta’ get Kayvon Thibodeaux.
And fwiw, I think Howell is a stud. He’s my guy headed into this season, but Thibodeaux could be Chase Young.
Would have been interesting what Holmes would have done if Lance was there. He made a comment to the free press that once Lance was picked he knew they wouldn't take a qb at 7. Also shows they didn't like Fields
Doing some reading about the draft in general and you guys had a great draft. Excited for the Battle for the Barge and our meaningless regular season game.
