If they go OL it’ll ideally be someone that can play RG right now but move to RT when Decker moves on or there is an injury.
To me, #6 will be hard to screw up completely: 1 - Carter, Anderson, Wilson, QB in no order 2 - Best CB available. I’d be much less excited, but not mad. They better get a stud though. #18 would probably be whatever we dont address at 6 (sans QB because theres nothing left and we’ll be paying Goff 50mil in two years). Though I sort of like the idea of going BPA here and trading one of our 2nds and a 3rd to get a guy like Brents. Part of why I dont love the idea of CB at #6 is I’d be almost as excited about Brents/Banks as I would be about Witherspoon/Gonzalez/Porter for a bit of a lower pick. Banks may be gone as high as 16, so maybe not.
18 + first next year for Lamar 2nd and a future 3rd or 4th for Ramsey Sign Wagner Trade Goff for a 2nd to replace one given up for Ramsey Draft Wilson, Anderson or Carter at 6 Still have 2 2nds Do it
There’s like a 90% chance we draft one of the top corners at 6 and then a second tier D-lineman at 18 which objectively would be great and really helps us but I’m going to be upset because we missed out on Anderson/Carter or a QB trade down
I have thought about it, and I would like for us to sign Lamar Jackson. Wish he had an agent so people had any clue what was going on with him and Baltimore right now.
I think he ends up back in Baltimore. The situation to me reads like they did this to "show him" that their offer was fair and no team will give him what he's asking for. Worst case for them they can just say they were wrong and match.
It's scary because he's regressed or been injured the past several seasons but reality of the QB market is that giving him $45ish million a year will eventually look like nothing. If Goff plays the way he did this past season, they will be forced to give him a similar deal. Gambling on Jackson's talent seems like the better upside play.
I think he does as well but any team with decent cap room that really wanted him could structure the contract to have a very high base salary in year one and essentially cripple the Ravens roster due to their cap situation.
If we knew the Ravens wouldn't match, I think it's a no-brainer. That part of it is not even a consideration for me. If we spent 5 days at the start of FA waiting to find out and then Baltimore matched, that would be a disaster on many levels.
We need to trade back for Stafford and profit on the return trip just so Holmes can call the other guy a pancake eating motherfucker, as is customary in these situations.
If it were to happen I think there would be a deal worked out with the Ravens before a contract was official/announced. NFL doesn't seem to work like NBA restricted free agency, no way is any team sitting on their hands during the opening days of free agency. I thought I saw that the only time that's happened in the history of the tag was Sean Gilbert over 20 years ago
Saw a tweet earlier, but how great does that Mahomes 10yr $400m deal look already? Also, all in on bringing back Stafford (know it will never happen).
Will take Stafford back if they retain some salary, his wife, and all the stories about Clayton Kershaw.
Goff's fiancé is one of the biggest reasons I'd be kind of sad if we move on to another QB. I'm not sure it's possible to improve more in that area from Kelly to Christen Harper.
But seriously, I think there is risk associated with Lamar, but I also trust this staff to not run him into the ground like Baltimore basically had no choice to do. I just think Baltimore matches any offer that isn’t fully guaranteed and I don’t see a world where Jackson gets a fully guaranteed deal. A really heavy front loaded deal could theoretically work but just doesn’t seems likely.
Not even sure it’s that much. He can still play, but he’s older for a DB. I am sure he’d want a new deal though.
I was hoping you would say that. He's probably a safer play than overspending draft capital and cap for Ramsey. If Patricia was his problem here, maybe he'd be inclined to make this happen.
Ramsey is 28, Slay is 32. Slay has a higher cap hit next year actually although I'm sure he wants a new contract. Ramsey is a better player. I'm paying the extra (unless it's insane asking price) for the better, 4 year younger player
