Reeves-Maybin getting a fully guaranteed $2M+ suggests they might try him as the starter on the weak side. Might as well.
Got 3/$33M, $24M guaranteed. I'm surprised if we didn't match/exceed that. Maybe we did and he preferred the better team, though.
Okwara is the same age and both have 20 career sacks. Okwara is a more consistent rusher though. We got a bargain for him.
So I don’t believe that we haven’t released Trufant yet, which makes me think we are still exploring trade options there. I assume nothing will come of those discussions but it’s interesting he still is on the roster. The Goff/Stafford trade finally becomes official tomorrow, at which point we can restructure Goff should we so choose. I would think if we were immediately restructuring him it would have leaked by now, but I’m not discounting it happening at some point.
Jones got $7.5 per season. He said he wanted to go to a winner. I doubt the Jags are making the playoffs this season or next.
I believe it means our team doctors not believe they can play for us any longer due to health concerns. They can go to another team and they could possibly be cleared, but if they fail a physical with that new team, we have to pay them an injury settlement. So it’s to help the players, not the team.
Brockers is solid but I hope this doesn't give up any picks. Guessing he's not going to be thrilled to come here.
My guess is we will swap late round picks, which is fine. He will serve as a leader on the DL and get plenty of opportunity to audition for a contender at the deadline. I really like that Williams signing. Holmes loves to draft RBs high, but this should eliminate that possibility. And beyond that, Williams is a good player. I also think Kerryon is probably safe because Swift and Williams are so similar as players. It actually makes me wonder if we are going to use one as a a lot WR semi frequently?
So my hunch of our current locks to start; QB: Goff RB: Swift WR: Williams WR: TE: Hockenson LT: Decker LG: Jackson C: Ragnow RG: RT: DE: Okwara DT: Brockers DT: DE: Flowers LB: Collins LB: LB: CB: Oruwayrie FS: Walker SS: CB: Okudah LS: K: P: Fox KR: PR:
My hunch is Vitai starts at RG, Nick Williams starts at DT. And for the hell of it, Muhlbach sticks around. Beyond that, I think the other spots are going to be new acquisitions.
It’s been headed this way, so I am curious what this means for us. If we want a QB, we have to trade up. It also means the likelihood of trading back is severely limited. The good news is we are going to get possibly the third best non QB if we stand pat.
Staley has been pumping up Johnson as a blocker for a while. I feel like he’s going to be our third back.
Here is a random question These were the first round picks made by Detroit sports teams in 2017; which one is the best? Red Wings: Michael Rasmussen Tigers: Alex Faedo Pistons: Luke Kennard Lions: Jarred Davis
Not sure Faedo ever does anything meaningful for Tigers, Davis statistically is one of worst LB in league. So it's Kennard or Rasmussen. Rasmussen is still only 21 and put up some ok numbers in ahl, and is starting to play regularly for wings. Think he still has potential to be a mid line forward, which means I'd probably take him over Kennard But regardless that's pretty bad
Glad we only gave up a 7th. Would rather see the snaps go to Penisini or a draft pick from this year’s class, but it’s a solid trade. It’d be great if we could flip him at the deadline for a better pick.
This is funny, but please don't give the shithead thread manager more ideas for Adorable Thread Titles.
Birkett says Brockers is getting a new deal when he comes here, which I'm assuming means his cap number will be lower than the current $8M.
