Good points but I’d still go Ebron. Williams was close and I hated it at the time, but the dumb part of my brain was intrigued. Westbrook was a decent pick at the time. I was dead against taking Odukie but I thought he’d be a solid player. all these guys were busts, but I try to separate reasonable picks who bust from dumb ass picks who bust. Ebron still burns my biscuits.

The Lions are 30th, ahead of only the Jags and the Texans. This ranking is based on counting stats, though, and by average points per year the Lions would be dead last. The Lions writeup: 30. Barry Sanders gave the 1990s quite a few playoff entries, but since then, the Lions have seen brief smiles followed by longstanding frowns. The belief was that Matthew Stafford would eventually find a way to punch through that longstanding of awfulness, but it never happened. If they fall in love with one of them, they will draft that signal-caller; no questions asked. Whether or not they become smitten with Kenny Pickett or Malik Willis is the big question. We'll see what happens at the combine, but neither quarterback was great at the Senior Bowl. Pass rusher would make sense for the Lions, but in his mock draft, Charlie Campbell wrote that the Lions weren't overly impressed with either edge player. Thus, they could look into adding a dynamic receiver, copying what the Bengals did when they added Ja'Marr Chase to a receiving corps led by Tee Higgins. Drake London has mismatch size, and he could be the first receiver off the board in the 2022 NFL Draft. He has drawn comparisons to Mike Evans.
These get long and a little too football nerdy for me, but I think they're also a pretty interesting look at QBs from the perspective of a former NFL QB. This is his breakdown of Willis against Syracuse. If nothing else, seems like a pretty good look at his talent and how far he has to go yet to be an NFL QB, if you're interested.
I think that video confirms everything I felt about Willis. His bust potential is sky high, but if you figure out how to develop him, he could be a top 8 QB in the league. The question is where do you take a guy like that? I’m still down with 2, but it feels like too much a leap for a team to make.
I’d be happy with Willis, Thibs, Hutchinson, or a trade down. Seems like it’ll be hard for us to screw up #2, especially if the Jags take one of the tackles.
I think Treylon Burks is the name to watch going into the combine. The draft at the top is a bunch of OL and defensive players no one is really that excited about. I don't know if Burks will run at the combine, but he's the one WR prospect who seems like he has a shot to blow up and push himself into that range with Jameson Williams injured. If he shows 4.4 or better speed at that size, I think the internet gurus start pushing him hard.
I agree. A WR seems destined to be a top 10 pick and Burks seems like the guy who could best make that case.
I wonder if playing more 4 DL means anything with Trey Flowers. I'm guessing he's still getting cut for cap reasons, but he would seem to benefit more than most on the DL by a move like that.
The Lions have a behind the scenes video from the Senior Bowl out that’s really worth watching on YT. At the end they are discussing their priorities on FA and I am quite sure when discuss their top target they are reference Marcus Williams. There is also a part where Dorsey is gushing over a guy he loves and it’s mentioned he will be 29 when the year starts. Not sure who that would be.
I can’t imagine Flowers comes back. I am not sure much changes tbh. I think we have a front seven that’s pretty versatile. I think Hutchinson is still likely the guy at 2 because he’s more versatile than Thibodeaux but who knows? Anyway, draft Malik.
Williams seems like a very large investment for a safety. I'd kind or rather take a discount in maybe bringing Quandre back over giving Williams approaching what might be $20M per. I'm not a fan of many FAs this year. I'm kind of hoping we don't do anything more than bargain bin shop at WR. The only ones I'd be all that interested for more than that are coming off serious injuries.
I don't get why he wouldn't test. I wouldn't do all of it, but pick your best 1-2 things you do and dominate the class to create some more buzz for yourself.
I think everyone knows he’s the most athletic QB in the draft so I’m not sure he has much to prove there. Get ready for throwing and interviews and more on from there. Also, he’s a hero.

I was so unimpressed the Oregon games I watched Kayvon play I can't shake it. I was completely against a QB this draft but may be talked into Willis. I'd rather gamble on him then use our 2nd one on a guy like Howell. No one is really jumping out to me right now. Hamilton has impressed me but the positional thing is the issue. Haven't fully decided what I want yet
