Continuing to add cap space I assume Riddick will be the next, though be probably gets outright released.
If we traded Stafford we would take a 29 mil cap hit in 2019. That’s about where we are at with our current space. We would need to create another ten mil in space to get our draft picks signed. Between releasing Theo and restructuring a few deals, we could certainly make that happen. I don’t think we trade Stafford but we seem to be signing guys with back loaded deals for a reason. Sorry for getting you wet Vinegar Strokes
Also the Raiders have the cap space to take on Stafford’s deal. They also have a QB they could unload and picks to sweeten a deal. Oakland is building a fast team but they have a QB who won’t throw downfield. Just something to ponder.0
We wouldn't need to change anything if we traded Stafford unless we were taking back a significant salary in return. Stafford's cap number this year is $29.5M if he's on the team. If we traded him, his cap number would be $30M. So, from that standpoint, our current cap space would go from $29M to $28.5M if he was traded.
I was thinking we would take the dead money hit in 2019. This shit is beyond me so I’ll trust you. Carr’s cap hit would be 22 mil this season it appears.
There's a difference with Stafford based on whether they traded or cut him. If they trade him, it would be $30M total in dead money (because the signing bonus would be the only charge). If they released him, it would be $55M in dead money because it would be the signing bonus + the guaranteed salary they owe him (which wouldn't be charged to Detroit if they traded him because the other team would be picking that up). In either case, all the dead money would go on the 2019 cap (unless we cut him after June 1), and we wouldn't have anyone beyond this year.
For people who don't know the site, you can play around with all that stuff here. https://overthecap.com/calculator/detroit-lions/
Makes sense. I mean I don’t particularly care if we trade the guy or not, though I much rather have Stafford over Carr or one of these rookie QB’s. That said, there is something going on with all this cap room. It just doesn’t make sense.
PFF FA breakdown of him 10. RASHAAN MELVIN Similar to Roby, Melvin followed up a promising 2017 campaign with a lackluster 2018 performance that saw his overall grade fall from 77.9 to 60.5 and his passer rating allowed balloon from 60.3 to 101.6. That upside that he flashed two seasons ago, though, still makes him an intriguing option moving forward. With the Indianapolis Colts in 2017, Melvin broke up ten passes on 55 targets while intercepting another three; that kind of playmaking ability is coveted league-wide and will put him in the free agent conversation once again in 2019.
Not sure how that would have even been possible for Detroit. The dead money on that deal would have been in the $40m+ range. Also, the time line isn't really stated. "Before last season" makes it sound like around training camp or even later. Trading him then wouldn't have made any sense for the Lions because they would have no other QB options.
So it's non-cancerous tumor on the nerve from the ear to the brain. It isn't generally life threatening, and if they can remove the whole thing she could be in the clear moving forward. If it too close to the brain they'll take out what they can and do radiation on the rest, and the prognosis is still very good. Deafness in the ear it's on is a possibility. My father in law has something similar, but cancerous and a lot more advanced.
Seems like he says something along those lines every year, and then we use the pick with 5+ minutes on the clock and talk afterwards that we could have moved back but didn't want to.
Looks like our TMB mock is getting cut short due to lack of caring from people. I got through 4 picks to this point. If you don't like these, I feel sorry for your disinterest in winning Super Bowls. 2019 Detroit Lions Draft 1.8 – Brian Burns, DE, FSU 2.43 – Josh Jacobs, RB, Alabama 3.88 – Mecole Hardman Jr., WR, Georgia 4.111 – Connor McGovern, OL, Penn State
I wish there was a CB who was worth taking at #8. Also, I wish I knew what Quinn's plan is at this point with Marvin Jones, because all of our media seems to talk about him like he's on his way out and that makes no sense to me. If that's true, WR becomes a really significant need.
Daniel Jeremiah mocked Jonah Williams to the Lions. Not sure how I would feel about that one. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...h-2019-nfl-mock-draft-30-drew-lock-to-packers
