Little surprised we went OG again, but he is a solid pick based on where I've seen him ranked pre draft
Kiper said he has short arms so no wonder if the DT crop is large still bc we need a big dude up the middle still
This is from Dane Brugler's draft guide on Stenberg, and is not great. Hopefully he cleans it up because I've enjoyed no longer having to watch Raiola's stupid shit. flag magnet in college due to his overaggressive nature, attracting 14 penalties in 2019, including everything from holding to unsportsmanlike calls…doesn’t have any college starting experience aside from left guard.
I don't think the DT group is good today. Very few guys seem like they'd have the scouting reports we would target. I think Williams and a few others might be worth picking, but I'm fine if we just take other positions and then sign someone like Marcel Dareus or another vet.
Sounds like a questionable pick at the moment - penalties and Detroit lions are synonymous for nfl refs
I’m not so sure. He was at senior bowl IIRC so maybe the staff gelled with him and found ways to improve his footwork and reduce penalties. He’s also a redass so fits with the Patricia culture too.
Don't think it's a wasted pick. Really, it's the same premise as taking a WR. We don't need a WR necessarily for 2020, but we don't have anyone that matters currently signed beyond this year. We didn't need another guard, but the only guys we have beyond 2020 are Jackson (through 2023), Benzschawel (would be RFA after 2021) and Dahl (back up money through 2021). If he's good enough to start this year, great. If he's not, he develops for a year behind one of the vets and maybe starts in 2021.
Certainly fair. I have my questions, as well. Maybe Patricia was looking for someone to start fights in practice.
There were 16 WRs taken in the first 106 picks. Teams were going to eventually move on to other positions.
Sounds like a great player Pre-Draft Analysis Cephus has average height and good bulk with a chiseled frame. He's a strong runner after the catch. He shows good body control and is competitive in traffic, but he has small hands and drops passes too often. Cephus has marginal initial quickness and top-end speed. -- Steve Muench
Cepheus is an interesting pick. He isn’t very fast but he has a game similar to Marvin Jones. I wish we would prioritize speed somewhere on this team but such is life.
He's never going to be a starter in the NFL. But at least he matches his mediocre skills with a questionable character.
Sounds like he has something in common with Matt Patricia Everything changed on the evening of Saturday, April 21 and early morning of Sunday, April 22 in 2018. While in his apartment, Cephus engaged in sexual acts with two female Wisconsin students. There is agreement by all parties that these sexual acts occurred. Their disagreement is whether the acts were consensual or non-consensual. More specifically, the complainants contend that they were incapacitated from alcohol and thus not able to lawfully offer consent. Cephus is depicted as taking advantage of their inebriation. One of the complainants went to the hospital emergency room shortly after leaving the apartment to allege that she had been raped. Later that Sunday, Madison Police executed a search warrant of Cephus’s apartment and secured relevant evidence. A few days later, Cephus was suspended from the football team. After hiring criminal defense attorneys, Cephus learned from the university’s Title IX compliance office that he was under university investigation. He also became aware the Dane County District Attorney’s Office was investigating him for possible sexual assault charges. By the end of May, Cephus received a notice of charge from the university indicating that he was formally accused of violating the University of Wisconsin Administrative Code. The alleged violation stemmed from engaging in acts of sexual assault.
I don't know what I'm supposed to do with the sexual assault thing. He was charged with it. He was also acquitted. I'm surprised we took him either way, given our history with anything like this under the Fords (especially Martha).
