Really interested to know if we're still chasing Butler. Would think we could still fit him in with our cap space unless the price soars into the current WR market.
To add to that, Houston is signing Aaron Colvin, and there were reports yesterday that Detroit and Houston were the two teams in the mix for Butler.
Another solid contract. We still have room for a bigger move but there isn’t much out there that would justify the spending.
He couldn't block and he had a ton of drops and was due over 8 mil this season that kicked in today. I'm not shocked by the move
With the cap space we currently have, it’ll be disappointing if we don’t sign one of Richardson, Poe or Suh.
The money going to WRs this year has been insane. Tate is a FA after this year. I don't know what it would take to sign him to an extension, but I wonder if adding $$ to his deal this year would make it more palatable for a long term investment. He's getting up there in years, but he's a perfect fit next to the other two WRs on the team.
We also changed course and tendered TJ Jones as a RFA. That was a good move, IMO. He's solid depth as the #4 WR and played well last year. Letting him become a UFA made no sense to me when that was originally reported last week.
Per twitter: Source says RB Frank Gore and Detroit Lions close to reaching an agreement. Five-time Pro Bowler rushed for 961 yards (3.7 ypc) w three TDs for Colts last year. Will be 35 in May.
Gore is fine. We still need to draft an RB but we can get something out of Gore in certain situations.
He would be the best RB on the roster today. Just draft a RB in the first and now you have a backfield.
Blount’s going to smoke BQ and Pencil under the table and get a massive guaranteed contract out of it. Happy for him
He's old and he's had situations in his career where he hasn't accepted a role and quit on the team. He's really hit or miss, and I'm not sure what the upside is at this point. Would have preferred Gore if we went the old RB route. He's at least consistent, durable, and has no history of off field stuff.
We aren’t going nuts in FA but I like that we aren’t investing in deals that will kill us in the long term. Save that money for guys like Tate.
