It's funny that they talked through last week about how, if Anzalone played, they would probably keep him on some kind of snap count to ease him back in. And then he played yesterday and went 64 of 65 snaps.
A guy who deserves a lot of praise yesterday is Craig Reynolds. He had some really productive touches. Will be nice to have Montgomery back but the reality is even with Monty back this needs to be Gibbs backfield the rest of the season.
Have we heard anything on zeitler? He looked pretty mad on the sidelines which had me worried he had something bad injury wise when he came off.
Not sure if he was asked about Montgomery or if he just brought him up on his own, but Montgomery could get an OC job out of this either as Johnson's replacement or by going along with Glenn or Johnson wherever they end up. He's got both OC and HC experience from college.
dress him, and send his ass out there for the last play of game when we beating that little bitch Mahomes 31-10
Rakestraw may be able to play, but is he any good? Moseley was put on the NFI list and can’t return until the Super Bowl, if they even wanted him to play.
While I would rather watch Rakestraw than Vildor because I do not want to watch Vildor do anything, Rakestraw has played a total of 46 snaps on defense this season and hasn't played since week 11. I do not see any way they throw him out there at corner in a playoff game unless injuries force them to do so.
Vildor just sucks so bad that I wonder what are options are. We also have 3 CBs + Branch on the roster, including Arnold and Vildor, and only 7 DBs total, so they need to add someone. The only practice squad CB is someone named Stanley Thomas-Oliver and the only S on the practice squad is Loren Strickland. Is JC Jackson in shape? Xavien Howard?
Good for Spielman but I wouldn’t be enthused as a Jets fan considering he’s a consultant for the search.
I'm shocked he's interested in it at all. Maybe the last couple years have made him think he can do it after settling into his role, but he was very open his first couple years he had no interest in being a candidate for this kind of job in Detroit, and also that his plan was that he would just walk away if the Lions won the Super Bowl.
That makes Montgomery, Engstrand and Farley all said to be OC candidates elsewhere with Johnson likely off for a head coaching job. Hopefully one of them stays to be OC in Detroit if/when Ben leaves.
Surprised we haven't heard more rumblings about Mark Brunell being Johnson's predecessor. Good NFL qb, has been working with Goff for a few years now.
The Athletic’s all rookie team article is out and Arnold got an honorable mention. Nobody else on the list, although I’m not sure what more Jake Bates could have done. He was behind Little, Karty and Reichert, despite having more FGs and a better percentage than Reichert and a better FG and PAT percentage than Karty. He was within 3 FGs made if Karty, 1 behind Little, and basically doubled up all 3 on PAT makes.
I've seen some things suggesting Brunell would go as Johnson's OC, but I don't think any of that has been from credible people so I'm not sure if that is legit or just people latching onto the name of a famous former QB.
The writer said it was because he was a non-traditional rookie due to his playing in the XFL. Which is dumb as fuck, but what they said.
Commanders win should give Detroit a Saturday game, too, I'd think. Wouldn't mind a Saturday downtown.
