What do you have against guys who high point the football?
Minnesota is smoking Orlando, putting them a win up on us.
We need to lose out, otherwise, we are going to finish in a tiebreaker with a bunch of teams for 2nd worst record.
I’d like to think weaver is a smart guy. There is no reason to play Ellington and Grant on Tuesday. Looks like frank Jackson got injured too, so hopefully he doesn’t play as well.
Has a team ever forfeited a game in the nba before? We should just forfeit against Minnesota to make history
It's miraculous we're even in this spot with the 2nd-worst record, all things considered. We're nowhere near as bad as four of the other five teams at the bottom (excluding Minny, which had a bunch of injuries, fired its coach, and has generally played pretty well when they've had everyone). All year long we've had the 2nd-worst record and the 7th-worst point differential, and the teams worse than us in point differential are almost all 2x or worse than us. Games like tonight have been the exception more than the norm compared to teams like Houston, Cleveland and OKC, who just get smashed most nights.
We have a better point differential than a Sacramento team that is 10 games ahead of us in the standings, and it's been like that all year.
For comparison, Cleveland, OKC and Orlando are basically all 1 game ahead (or behind, depending on your POV) in the standings. We have 13 losses this season by 15+ points.
Cleveland has 27 losses this year by 15+
OKC has 23, and 13 losses by at least that much since March 27
Orlando has 22, and they were trying to make the playoffs for more than half the season
15 is an arbitrary number, but it's weird how the season has played out to this point.
James Edwards article about us having the best rebuild ever was such bullshit, but this season has been perfect except for the Hayes injury. We are going to likely have top 5 lottery odds, all our rookies look damn good and Grant has taken his game to another level. Plus we have found a ton of really solid assets for basically nothing.
The rookies look good, but they don't move the needle unless we get a superstar this year or next year. I like Bey and Stewart, but there's a reason we still suck even with their play to this point. They're really important pieces on good teams. They don't do much to take you from being bad to good. That's why his premise was bullshit, like you said.
Hayes has skills and I'm not giving up on him at all, but if we go 2 for 3 in this draft and he's the miss, that's a really big miss because he's far more important to the future than the other 2. The passing and defense are obvious. He has to become much more aggressive and prove he can score to be what they need him to be, though.
Oh I agree. We need that foundational piece and that’s easier said than done. But to be in a position to get one this late in the year under the circumstances is a huge positive.
Hayes looking good in the second half.
I would very much like to see him shoot this much the rest of the season. And, ideally, maybe turn it over less and get to the FT line. But he needs to hunt shots like this if he's going to maximize his passing ability.
The NFL draft is over and I've moved on to the NBA draft. The highlights of all these prospects who can't shoot are so misleading and I fall for it every year.
Need to find 5 guys in stands to play tomorrow, biggest game in recent history for Pistons. Absolute must lose
Let’s fucking go baby.
I’m sure Kalin Lucas would love a handout to the league for a few games
Solid injury report for a “must lose” game
That injury list can only be shown on premium cable after 11pm.
Have a bad feeling Pistons still end up winning this one and pick 7th
This is a safe assumption
Is this the most important Pistons game in like a decade? I mean sure we had some playoff games in series we had no shot at winning a game in. But this year's lottery and draft play a major roll in their future development. If they end up in the 7-10 range again they probably aren't looking at a quick turnaround
Do we have two J Jackson’s on the team now? Pistons said he was inactive
they probably meant frank
Both Jackson’s are out today
Best half of the season
If Russell could make a shot we’d be down by a million. I’ll settle for a 22 point deficit though.
I don't think Detroit has had a team tank like this. The Tigers have drafted first, but they were just fucking terrible, and the Wings and Lions are notorious for throwing worthless wins up in the last week. This team is benching decent players to get a better chance at a top 3 pick and it is fucking hilarious.
I am concerned about Denver possibly resting players Friday.
I hope not, I bought tickets, but knew that could be a possibility
Denver is playing for a 3 seed. They won’t be resting anyone.
So is Lee our backup PG next year?
REALLY would have been nice if we didn’t beat the Grizzlies.
fuck tanking is stressful.
It defensively would’ve been nice to lose that one, too, but the young guys absolutely looked pleased to win that game. Our next two should be easy losses as Miami and Denver are battling for seeding
Amazing the Pistons and Red Wings can be so bad yet both may extend their coaches
And for wildly different reasons.
I like that move. Casey is a good coach, and hopefully this keeps him motivated to continue through the process. He's done a tremendous job this year and has seemed to embrace at least some of it with the kids.
Good for him, too. It took him forever to truly get a real opportunity. He's going to end up making at least north of $40M from us by the end, I think.
I'm a big fan and think he's been great with the kids.
Same, I’m all aboard on the Casey train
