Ben is so goddamn cool. He says he wants to get into ownership, so Gores should throw him a stake in the team.
Siap on here, but I read this was the first time in the history of the Lottery the Pistons pick actually moved up. Kind of incredible, but pretty good timing
Hey guys just a heads up I watched one YouTube video on Cade Cunningham and we're getting a hybrid, better version of Luka and Tatum.
Also, Grant at 20 mil a year right now is a perfect complement for all these young guys. Grant will be a lot more efficient imo if he is the number 2-3 guy.
I just rewatched this and you can hear someone saying “Saddiq just FaceTimed me”. Not sure if it’s Cade saying it or not, but it makes me love Saddiq that much more.
So do they just let this play out for another year and see where the young guys go or does Cade kick start a compete window right now?
I though vou play next year straight with Cade, Grant and all the 2nd year guys and see if you can spend some money after next year.
Yep. I do think the expectation should be to make the playoffs this season, but not at the expense of the future. We should have enough development from our kids to supplement Cunningham’s arrival.
And the worst case of missing the playoffs means another pick in the lottery to add to the core while Cade and the kids get another year of experience. Any better than that and the 1st rounder is Houston's, right?
Booker has been in the league 6 years before the Suns made the playoffs, Zion hasn't made it yet either. The Pistons roster may have a head start and play in an easier conference but expectations need to be tempered a little bit. This year might not be the right time but trading some assets for an established star like the Dame one listed above should be on the radar. Dame's probably too ball dominant to fit with Cade but someone will become available in the next year or so.
I'm already annoyed by the "does Cade even fit with the Pistons roster" angle. Does Mobley considering that it pushes Stew to the 4 and Grant to the 3? Or Green, who doesn’t have optimal size for his position? Fuck off, NBA pundits.
We're not making the playoffs next year unless Cunningham averages 25 and Hayes is at least an average starting PG already (a pretty high bar given the depth of the position).
Stupid question but its the kind of stuff I think about... Cunningham wore #2 at OSU. We currently have that number retired in honor of Chuck Daly. Would anyone be mad if we gave Cunningham #2 and just took that number out of the rafters and made a new banner with just Chuck's name? I've always thought it was kind of dumb to waste a single-digit number by retiring it in honor of a coach who never wore a jersey.
Also have busy work to do at work, still pumped about this, any good podcasts or videos to listen to breaking down Cade or talking about the draft to listen to?
As somebody who came of age during the Chuck Daly Era in Detroit, I have no issues with giving Cade number 2. They should have just hung an Armani suit in the rafters.
I have noticed The Ringer seems to be the most prominent site pushing this narrative that Cade doesn’t fit here as well as Mobley or Green. It’s weird because I’ve read/heard it from different people there now a few times. It feels like they are trying to wish a different pick into existence.
There’s just nothing else to talk about right now and Detroit is never going to get national media love. Killian has played like 20 nba games. No one knows what the hell he is going forward. He might not even be in the league in three years. Cade fits great because he is a great player and the team is all his now
I was thinking about this too. Kinda came to the conclusion that retiring numbers *never to be worn again* is dumb. Just put the name and number on a banner in the rafters and let the number continue to be used. Save the old way for the Jordans, Kobes, and Lebrons of the basketball world.
