They can’t even get people to go to Pistons games. How the fuck they going to watch a team of rejects play basketball? Even if tickets were 5 bucks. The D league players future is a 12/13 man on an NBA team
Pistons tickets are still relatively expensive. If tickets were crazy cheap I could see people going to see “pro” basketball.
I think minor league hockey would kill it here. Wish the Wings would do something similar. I have hard time seeing this G league team surviving.
Minor league baseball is mostly filled with guys who will never get a sniff at the big leagues yet people go to those games.
The owner of the drive sucks dick and only has money because of his wife. Their attendance would be at least double if they played in the same arena as the Griffs and not the piece of shit Delta Plex
I doubt it man. The G League is an awful product. There is no comparison between the AHL and G League. Just look at attendance averages between the two leagues. Nobody gives a shit about one of them.
James Edwards III wrote on The Athletic about some things the Pistons could do with the 15th pick to maximize Blake's 3 final years. He had a Bradley Beal trade that wasn't realistic, but also had this (with us also giving Memphis #15). I would do this deal. Would you?
Not Brown and a 1st. Conley has negative value to the Grizzlies at this point. Expirings and a couple 2nd rounders or a future protected 1st should be enough, even though I'm sure Memphis will hold out for more.
Conley doesn't have negative value to Memphis. He's going to be 32 to start next year so that's an issue, but he averaged 21, 6.5 and 3.5 last year in 70 games with no one around him. Someone will give up at least one good asset to acquire him.
Well he's making $30 million and is at best a third banana on a really good team. With good players around him his scoring goes down, and he doesn't shoot particularly well. If you're shelling out $30 mil for a player you want a whole lot more than what Conley is providing at this point.
I think my favorite guys in the #15 range for Thursday are... Romeo Langford - probably the highest ceiling guy we could take Nickeil Alexander-Walker - Combo guard I think would fit well with Kennard and Blake PJ Washington - Solid 4 man who could spell Blake and play some 5, probably Nic Claxton - 15 is probably too high, but I really like his potential I can be talked into pretty much anyone in that range, but the guys I'm least interested in would be.... Tyler Herro - He's 6'6" with a 6'3" wing span and we already have a white SG Kevin Porter Jr. - I just don't think we're the type of team that's getting someone like that to fulfill potential I have no idea what to make of these players... any Euro - two could go in the lottery and I know nothing about them Nassir Little - I don't really get the hype, but a lot of people seem to like him so I could be missing something Brandon Clarke - I have no clue how that size/skill set works. Could be really good or he's a bench guy playing 10 minutes a night Rui Hachimura - Really talented but seems like he has very limited basketball IQ for understandable reasons at this point. Not sure how long it takes him if he makes it.
Kind of want Porter Jr. because of potential, plus he and Little are guys whose game I think are better suited for the pros.
Want no part of Langford and Little, both seem like the quintessential, everyone knows they can't play but will get drafted high because of their high school ranking (i.e. Stanley Johnson). Porter or Clarke seem like the best bets in the high risk/high reward category. Alexander-Walker or Cameron Johnson among the play it safe type picks
Disagree on Langford. He was considered a top 5-7 type pick all the way through HS, and then played with a torn ligament in his shooting thumb. Even if he never develops as a shooter, he's not Stanley Johnson offensively. We desperately need someone like him who can create offense on his own on the wing. Little gives me Stanley Johnson flashbacks, though.
Lanfgford's not like Johnson in his game but he definitely is living off his high school production like Johnson did. Maybe his hand caused so much pain that he was tentative but the biggest issue with Langford seems like he lacks drive or motivation and just goes through the motions all the time
I can see that, but he's 19 years old and was on a shitty team. He wouldn't be the first player like that to mature as a pro and improve in those areas.
Beard seems to be pushing Cam Johnson a lot today. Wonder if he knows something or is just projecting. Also TJ Warren is available. They really need to see what the asking price is for him
Cam Johnson would not be a very exciting pick, although I can see the appeal. We need shooting and Milwaukee badly exposed how we had no one in that 6'6"-6'9" range with any athleticism.
How likely is it that Drummond opts out, and goes elsewhere? We better not give him another fucking extension.
Snell has been a decent defender and shooter over the years, although it seems like any time his team plays for anything he gets benched because he's not good enough at either to be particularly useful. He's kind of like Iman Shumpert in that way. I could see him being in the Ellington role as a vet wing who plays while a likely first rounder backs him up.
I'm thinking we use one of these picks on a center now (assuming we keep them and don't package them to move up). I like Nic Claxton as a potential guy, although he probably goes somewhere between 15 and 30. 30 would also be the ideal range for Cam Johnson, if he lasts that long. There are a ton of guys who could go anywhere in that 15-45 range.
I have no idea what to make of Bitadze. Some people really like him. I'm a little afraid of Euro players who don't rate well in statistical rankings, though. Especially bigs who are already questioned for a lack of athleticism. Seems like Casey would know how to use a guy like that after having Valanciunas all those years, though.
can't find it now but one of the articles or tweets I read today mentioned them moving up in the 2nd for Brazley. Would guess he's the pick if he's still on the board. Johnson/Brazley plus a back up pg or c in the 2nd. Then sign a vet pg with their execption and the rosters pretty much set.
Because they suck, have no path to free agents of conseqence, and their only path to being any good is to somehow luck into their version of a Siakam.
