Both guys are interesting and seem like solid picks. The weird thing is taking both of them in the same year, unless they think Brown can play some PG.
Trading multiple future 2nd rounders isn't all that ideal, either. Especially after we moved at least one or two at the deadline for Nelson and Ennis. 2nd rounders usually don't generate much in terms of quality players, but they're very useful trade chips sometimes.
Different teams think differently with that stuff. Some value 2nd rounders a ton. Others couldn't care less. It can work either way. We got Marcus Morris and Reggie Bullock for a 2nd rounder. Sometimes, a pick like that can be the difference between getting a player or not because it's hard to move salaries in the league. That's all I'm saying.
would be much more excited heading into next season with Tobias and MPJ than what the current situation is
Fuck Stefanski. Didn't he just say other day 12th pick isn't that great, yet he is blowing these two guys we got in 2nd round.
With all the bigs taken early in the draft, the league is clearly changing back to post ball. Gores is playing 3d chess.
This year's draft definitely felt like a league-wide reaction to our deadline moves. Teams loading up in the frontcourt knowing they have to go through Detroit.
So... PG - Jackson, Smith, Galloway SG - Kennard, Thomas, Brown SF - Bullock, Johnson, Robinson PF - Griffin, Ellenson C - Drummond, Leuer, Moreland
The tax stuff doesn't matter until the end of the year. Even if we were $10m over the tax line entering the season, we would have until the deadline to get below it if we wanted to.
In other news, other potential trade pieces in Detroit include Jordan Zimmermann, Miguel Cabrera and Justin Abdelkader.
I can't even watch our summer league team. This roster NBA and G League is just completely uninteresting.
Ellenson playing is really stupid, too. He's a third year guy who is going to shoot non-stop and gain nothing from it.
Gupta was Sam Hinkie's #2 guy in Philly, and worked with Hinkie under Morey in Houston before that. https://www.phillymag.com/news/2017/01/31/sachin-gupta-trades-sam-hinkie/
Based on media day + everything that's come out this summer, Drummond is going to shoot a bunch of threes this year. It's going to end badly. And he's going to be the most unpopular athlete in Detroit by Christmas because of it.
you really have that Lions win going to your head if you actually think a Lion wont still be the most hated by Xmas
