I still think about him leading a protest against David Brandon, and then doing media afterwards wearing a Michigan hockey jersey.
I still think about how in a blog he wrote about having sympathy for Frank Clark after he got kicked off the team for beating up a woman...he wrote about how he also lost his temper during an amateur indoor soccer league where he was in his 30s and sucker punched a high schooler.... Indoor soccer leagues are not particularly good about keeping things balanced. We were getting the shit kicked out of us because we were all 30 and out of shape and these kids were in high school. Since they were in high school, they were dicks. I'd just about gotten fed up when their goalie started making forays up the field in an attempt to score. Repeatedly. Just rubbing it in. I started tracking him the next time he did it, with every intention of cleaning him out. As I reached him, he passed the ball. My fate was sealed anyway. Without any semi-legal means of letting this guy have it, I punched him in the face. 30 seconds of rolling around later, my glasses were in tatters and I'd gotten a healthy suspension from an amateur indoor soccer league I didn't care very much about.
That has still has to be one of the wildest stories. Can’t believe he got people to give him over $100k for being so tired
So we got the best player in the deal, and shed Olynyk’s contract off the books for next season? Seems like a no brainer, especially since I am sure Bojan will have significant value at the TDL if he’s playing well.
Olynyk was only guaranteed $3M for next year, but it's still a bizarre deal to me. I'm like you and waiting for some other shoe to drop here.
Probably Bagley or Livers in the starting line-up where Bogdanovic is, and then Duren or Olynyk in the second group.
They need to try Stewart at the 4 Cade, Ivey, Bey, Stewart, Bagley Killian, Burks, Bog, Livers, Duren
I think the Jazz are betting on some level that Olynyk is going to get a lot of minutes at center, and on a tanking team will ultimately be more valuable come the deadline than Bogdanovic because he's got a smaller deal to move this year.
I bet Nerlens plays regularly instead of Duren to start the season. He’ll inevitably get injured at some point. Weird that for the first time in several years the team actually is deep enough to talk semi average players not making the rotation
I could see Noel playing some ahead of Duren early in the season. I'd be shocked if Noel starts ahead of both Stewart and Bagley at the 5. I'd be shocked if he takes any minutes away from those two, for that matter. They love both those guys (too much, IMO).
The problem with our big rotation is the ones who would probably play best together aren't necessarily the best ones. But I think Bog would play well with Cade and if you start stew with Bog the bench is full of bigs who can't shoot. If you start Bagley with Bog then that's some terrible interior defense. Stewart and Bagley is possible as starters too, but it'll be interesting to see
The best part to this for me is that every time Edwards writes some definitive breakdown of the roster and storylines for the Pistons, Weaver makes a trade that shakes it all up.
Any line-up that has Bagley in it is going to be rough defensively, but we still gave him 3/$36M or whatever so clearly they're okay with it on some level. Or at least they think they will be. I don't want to see Stewart playing the 4 unless it's in special line-ups. I think playing him there minimizes his biggest strengths as a player on both ends of the court while exposing his weaknesses more. It's one thing to play him and Bagley together because Bagley then plays 4 on defense. I don't want to see a Stewart/Duren front line.
Reporting that the Pistons were the only team to offer a trade that didn't require the Jazz to take back long term contracts. Said that they had offers that included a 1st round pick but turned them down due to what they would have to take back.
I think we finish in the 8 to 10 pick range. I also thought the Tigers would make the playoffs so take it with a grain of salt.
Well literally everyone got worse or vastly underperformed their prospect hype for the Tigers. I'd love ve to see us finish with an 8-10 pick type record but luck into the top 5 in the lottery.
