And also, fuck Tayshaun and Rip. I want us to announce we're going to retire their jerseys. I want us to bring them to the Palace. And then I want us to pull the rug out and laugh in their faces for thinking we all just forgot about how it ended with both players.
Crazy how bad we look at times, and we're still 3-0. Really hope the offense kicks into gear soon. Nice to see us playing D, though, while the offense figures it out with so many new pieces.
I really like this Pistons team. If they could add another shooter they'd really have a stew going. Drummond is a god damn monster.
This team has a lot of youth, but also enough experience not to get overwhelmed with other teams talent. For them to take control in OT last night was refreshing. The west coast road trips will give us a much better idea of how good this team really is.
what the fuck is SVG doing with these rotations? Starters play the whole 1st Q. 2nd team comes in, and Indy goes on 24-2 run. Pathetic.
It's the 4th game of the season. Rotation is still being figured out. Relax and enjoy that you have that's actually watchable this year
Vin doesn't do "relax". It's his schtick. He waits until he has something to complain about, then comes in nuclear hot. He's like sports talk radio.
Love this quote Marcus Morris was booed virtually every time he touched the ball in the first quarter until the 16,676 at Talking Stick Resort Arena grew weary of chiding him. "Of course," he said when asked if he heard the boos. "Everybody heard them. It wasn't s***. If it was in Detroit, it would've been better. If Detroit was booing somebody, it would've been way better. They don't even know what they're doing (in Phoenix). They don't even know why they're booing, they're just out there booing. It was trash. I thought it would be a little better than that."
I like this Pistons thread better. We are going to get rolled up tonight, but damn last nights 4th quarter was amazing.
Would love to see us play Golden State not on a back-to-back. Starters are spent after last night, and our bench is not very good. Still have a chance to go 4-2 on this road trip with wins of Sacramento, and the Lakers.
Our offense is rough right now, which is really disappointing. Just no movement, and Jackson/Drummond aren't clicking on the pick and roll.
KCP was a monster on D tonight. Curry was 7-18 for 22 points, and I know at least 3 of those FGs were after KCP had to switch onto someone else or in transition. He shut him down in the halfcourt. Don't know if anyone can play like that all the time, but he has the ability to be elite defensively when he wants to be. The lack of movement on O was frustrating and led to the turnovers and run outs. Not sure if it's a line-up thing of just Jackson being dumb. Disappointing thing was we finally started to get that movement at the end of the 3rd, and then Jackson got hurt.
What's the word on the Jackson injury? Blake is just real bad. It'll be nice to have Jennings back at some point.
Took a knee to the thigh late in the 3rd, according to Langlois. Probably won't know until tomorrow morning what the severity is.
It's funny what happens when you put up a couple 25/25 nights. The Warriors announcers were talking midway through the 3rd about how Drummond wasn't a factor on the glass because he "only" had 8 rebounds. I just read the GS game recap on SB Nation, and they described him as "meh" after going for 14 and 15 with a couple blocks/steals and shutting GS down in the paint on D.
I was pretty impressed with how we played considering it was @ GSW on a back-to-back. The team looked pretty tired by the end of the first, but kept fighting back. Nice to see Stanley have a good game and KCP was impressive. If we take care of business against the Kings and Lakers this will have been a very successful trip.
That was a really tough road trip early in the season. I think once they played the Lakers they were spent. Good bounce back home win against a good team.
I think Baynes is good enough to play more minutes with better players. He'll just struggle when surrounding him with the bench 5 like SVG keeps going to. Ultimately, they need to move Morris to the bench and start Stanley. He plays better with better people around him, and Morris stops the ball and gets his own better than Johnson right now. Seems like a better way to take advantage of both. Also, Drummond's post game is so much better than it was that first week. He was great in the 2nd half.
Great article on Drummond written by one of the best in the business.... http://www.si.com/nba/2015/12/02/andre-drummond-detroit-pistons-stan-van-gundy-dwight-howard
Unless we make a trade or Jennings is much better than I'm expecting, our terrible bench is going to end up costing us a spot in the playoffs (or, best case scenario, keeping us in a seed low enough that we can't compete in our first round match-up). Going to OT v. Phoenix. Our starters are +21, +5, +16, +5 and +11. Our four bench players are a combined 5-17 from the floor and a -6, -15, -20 and -22 tonight.
Went to the game tonight. The atmosphere at the Palace continues to be depressing. Granted it's a random weekday against a mediocre opponent but there couldn't have been more than 5k people in the stands. An usher actually moved us closer to fill some of the empty seats in the lower bowl. It's a shame because the arena is great and the Pistons do a really good job with pregame hype stuff. That location though ... You can smell the landfill down the street from the arena parking lot. They need to get out of AH and move downtown in the worst way.
I'm not sure what would take me longer from Wixom/Walled Lake - Auburb Hills or Downtown. I know I'd rather go downtown. On the plus side, I actually find myself putting Pistons games on this days. On the negative side, sometimes Steve Blake is on the court.
I've got the replay on of the Boston game and jesus christ can AIDS take Blake already, that end of 3rd sequence was tragic.
Fun game to watch, even better we pulled this one out. The Reggie trade is starting to look damn good.
