Last few minutes is why the beat writer bullshit about Stewart is irrelevant. Milwaukee's playing a zone and not even close to guarding him even though he's shooting 2-5 tonight. And twice he gets it wide open on the wing, doesn't even look at the rim, and it turns into either a TO or a late clock heave because he has to take that shot. 3FG% doesn't matter if the defense still doesn't respect your willingness to shoot it enough to guard you.
Super excited that Sasser’s game translates to the NBA. Dudes a scorer, not saying he’s going to finish all rookie nba…but with the minutes he’s going to get I don’t see how he doesn’t.
When Burks, Ivey and Morris come back the guard rotation is going to be interesting. I don't see how you don't trade someone.
I don’t think Ivey and Morris are going to impact Sasser minutes. That’s probably why Ivey is pouting
And at the time of the whistle Cade had a clear path to the rim or a pull up. It was an enormous play in that game and I was searching for a Tweet about it or something at midnight last night to get more mad about it and post mean things on the internet about the officials. And it's hard to complain that much about the refs in a game where they absurdly ejected the best player on the other team for that, but it's incredibly annoying when Lillard gets to the line like he did any time someone guarded him inside of 2 feet and he just falls over when you lose by 2.
Re: the Giannis ejection. He elbowed Stewart in the face before the “stare down”. I think that was a big picture ejection because they were getting spicy
I wasn't paying much attention at the time it happened, but Giannis hates Stewart and they've gotten into it before so I can see that.
Sasser should be starting sooner rather than later. He is a bucket and his confidence will only grow as the season goes on.
Cade also needs to up his clutch gene. He's had some opportunities to make a big bucket late in the game and seems to come up short. If he wants to be an All-Star caliber player, he has to be better in the last 5 minutes in close games.
Cade shows flashes but definitely also some red flags. I won't write him off until he plays with a real team around him who can take some of pressure off him. I really like Sasser but question his potential improvement. He's older than Cade, Killian, and Ivey.
Cades shooting % is almost the same as Killian’s. He’s inefficient and putting up points on a bad team
41.7 / 32.8 vs 39.1 / 32.3 One is our #1 pick in year 3. The other is our bust / worst shooter in the league in year 4
Sure, but Cade's shooting percentages look like that because he's got 5 people guarding him most possessions when he crosses halfcourt. Killian's shooting percentages look like that despite no one guarding him outside of 3 feet from the basket.
There's a conversation to be had about Cade's scoring efficiency and turnovers. Right now, they're not All-NBA/All-Star levels (or all that close to it) and I will agree that some of these early season games have been somewhat concerning if we're banking on him to be THAT guy. But comparing his stats to Killian's is just dumb and pointless to that conversation to anyone who understands the context, which I am under the impression is everyone reading this thread.
True, but most his shots are contested while most of Killians are wide open because teams dare him to shoot
The numbers are the same though, and if the context is that Cade scores 30 while shooting 27 times, 17 of those shots being short feels guaranteed at this point
Cade has his struggles and needs to improve to be the player we think he should be. No debating that. But to think he's anywhere near Killian level is baffling. Just look how opposing teams treat the two of them.
True. What's also true is the fact that Cade has to shoot 21+ FGAs per game because who else is going to shoot 42% from the field if Cade isn't taking those shots? When the answer is "nobody," you get into the reasons why the statistics without the context are not particularly meaningful to the evaluation you're attempting to make.
Inefficient scorer putting up big numbers on a bad team. Do you still take issues with what I’ve said? Because that’s what I said
If that's all you said, I would have responded with "harsh, but fair". But you said more than that, which is what I responded to.
I didn’t compare him to Killian. I pointed out that the actual % are nearly the same. The numbers aren’t lying and I’m not sure why y’all are so defensive about it
This is an awful take. He's always been an inefficient player. Save the fucking excuses that he has no help around him. #1 overall pick needs to be better. He has not lived up to the expectations and is a bust. Sooner Pistons realize that, the better off the franchise will be. Giving him any type of max extension will put the team in purgatory for another 10 years.
He's averaging 24 points a game, while putting up 21 shots a game, and turning it over at almost 6 a game. Yeah, but he's got 5 guys guarding him all the time. Cut him some slack.
To be fair to MG2, I don't think he was saying Cade isn't struggling or that he doesn't need a lot of improvement, was just pointing out comparing him to Killian is more than a bit much. Other than the Piston slappies on Twitter, I'm not sure anyone is going to disagree that Cades been a disappointment. Some of it is on the team around him, but a lot of it falls on him
Quintana hit .135 in AA last year. Must be exhausted. He needs to hit up Ace Abender, ( who MG2 donated 100 bucks to), and get some tips on scamming people out of some money, because his baseball career is all but over.
