Kennard being a really good 6th man since the Bullock trade has been massive. Hopefully he keeps building on that. The bad thing is when he plays with Reggie in the backcourt, he's the better defender of the two. Any quality team with decent guards can shred us.
We've got a nice stretch the next two weeks against lesser teams before we go on a 4-game West Coast trip that includes GS, Portland and Denver. Need to put some wins in the bank during this stretch, and games at Miami and Brooklyn will be especially big for seeding purposes.
They're playing like a good team right now. They haven't earned the benefit of the doubt where they deserve to be called a good team yet.
Drummond outplayed KAT. The bench was awesome. Kennard keeps having these nights. They're actually scoring points and fun to watch. What the hell is happening?
I watched the second half last night. It was basically all I've watched of the Pistons this year. Ish Smith was fun, Kennard, Drummond. Crowd was into it. I didnt know wtf I was watching.
He deserves at least some credit for all of it. At the same time, I have a hard time believing SVG never asked Drummond to play this way, or that he's done something new with Kennard that wasn't possible when he was getting DNP-CDs early in the season and I was getting annoyed. Casey has done a nice job adjusting after the deadline deals, and he's taking advantage of his best players playing at a high level. It's also noteworthy that we're currently shooting 3s at a level that is almost certainly over our heads and is going to crash back to earth sometime soon. Reggie Jackson is a career 33% shooter from 3 and shot 45% in February.
Also helps that the one of the worst player in the NBA is off he team, and no longer shooting 25% from 3. He can’t even play for the Pelicans.
Are you guys ready for us to give Drummond the super max extension in the offseason now that he's awesome? What could go wrong?
This team just can't play on the road. Since the start of their good stretch since February 4, they are 9-0 at home and 5-5 on the road with 3 double-digit losses and a loss to the tanking Cavs. The road wins in that stretch are NYK, Atlanta, Miami, Cleveland and Chicago.
We had 14 points with about 5 minutes left in the second quarter, didn't make a three until the 3rd quarter, and scored 99 points. I'll take it. So weird seeing Drummond not only in late, close games, but making free throws in them. Amazing how far he's come at the line the last couple years. He's almost 70% since the all-star break.
Blake is out again tomorrow with whatever this "knee soreness" is. Indiana home and home next two games.
Blake has 34 points on 12 shots in 21 minutes so far early in the 3rd. Second leading scorer has 6, and Drummond has 0 with 3 fouls. Thus, we are losing by 6 and probably going to end up missing the playoffs. What a waste.
Rest him for playoffs. There is no way we miss it with our remaining schedule. Knicks and Grizzlies are easy wins.
Any thoughts on Svi Mykhailiuk? Crazy that he graduated from KU at 20 yrs old. Guess he isnt playing since you're trying to make playoffs.
Apparently he’s getting work at PG. I think they look at him as a lottery ticket at this point but he’s barely played so who knows? I think he might even be hurt.
Not sure about being a PG, but he should make someone's bench as a shooter. Looks like he has averaged 24pts/game in G-league at 44%from deep.
Don't think they wanted to throw a rookie out there in the middle of the season while they were trying to make a run for the playoffs. I would expect him to be given a pretty good shot at being in the rotation next year, and then we'll see if he makes enough shots to stick.
He just turned 17 right before his freshman season iirc. He came from the Ukraine and graduated there at 16 yrs old.Wish he redshirted bc he would have been our best player this year.
