This is because Jennings isn't ready and Dinwiddie sucked at Summer League? I'm disappointed, though. I think Miller still has potential to play in this league.
I'd have preferred we give Miller a shot, but we've apparently been speaking with Lucas still, so adding another PG was in the cards. Guess Miller was the easiest guy to move.
Pistons will announce these as their third jerseys later this week, I believe. Apparently going for "Detroit Chrome".
Good thing they got rid of Monroe before they tried to dress like Georgetown. Dude would have thought he was back in college
I'm assuming they'll be shinier than that, but who knows. I'm excited to watch some Pistons basketball now that I have local access to it.
I'm glad the president and GM will back the coach now after years of the franchise letting the players run things.
AUBURN HILLS -- The Detroit Pistons aren't the Bad Boys anymore. But they may be willing to try. Reggie Jackson, the Pistons' point guard, apparently has promised to pay all of Marcus Morris' fines for technical fouls this season, Morris said. Jackson neither confirmed nor denied. He also made it clear he wants protection. "You definitely need that, especially me attacking the rim," Jackson said. "They're just going to whoop my ass all game. So I need guys like that to back me. If we get into a physical altercation, it is what it is on the court. It happens. It's all about the five guys on the court at the time, and the other 10 on the team, as well. "It's us 15 against the world. That's how we've got to treat it. We don't really necessarily care about too many other teams." Enter Morris, who had nine technical fouls last season for the Phoenix Suns, tied for 11th in the league, and they were economical: He played the third-fewest minutes among the NBA's top 20 technical-foul recipients. "He told me today he's going to pay for my techs, so that's a plus," Morris said after the Pistons' Wednesday morning practice, the second day of training camp.
That seems like a bad idea. Marcus Morris getting a bunch of Ts would be a return to the end of the Sheed/Hamilton era where all they did was complain to refs that we all hated.
that was the last time i watched though. and is any other team in the NBA any different regarding complaints the refs?
Lot of positive chatter, which is to be expected. All the players/coaches appear to be raving about KCP, and the media guys are suggesting it's legit. Not sure what that means. Also sounded like Morris and Johnson both played very well at the open practice on Saturday, and they also played a little bit together.
Haven't watched any of the game but checking the Pistons boxscore and two things stick out: KCP with 22 points on 7 of 9 shooting (6 of 7 from 3) Stanley with 25 points on 8 of 16 shooting (3 of 6 from 3)
I'm all in on this team right now. Think this could be the most exciting team we've had in forever. No clue if we'll be good, but we should score a lot of points and play at a fun pace.
It's kind of the way they built the team. It's a small ball roster with (hopefully) a bunch of shooters and Drummond in the middle. SVG has said the only reason they might not play at a really fast pace is it might be too tough on Jackson.
I haven't watched any games but based on the reports I've read it seems like our best starting 5 might be RJ - KCP - Johnson - Morris - Drummond.
Drummond isn't signing an extension this offseason. SVG is talking about it like this is a mutual thing to save cap space for next season. I'm really hoping that's true, because I don't think this is a good idea for us. Especially given the way Stan has completely ignored cap savings on just about ever move he's made since taking the job.
Supposedly saves us $12M this year and gives us that in room next year, but it isn't going to be super bueno if Drummond decides to leave.
Drummond said that he trusts Gores to do right by him and the team so at least his head is in the right place right now.
I'm glad they're finally cashing in, but Palace of Auburn Hills is a great name even if nobody outside Detroit knows where Auburn Hills is. We could be stuck with Waste Management Arena a year from now.
I watched the half hour preview of the Pistons for NBATV tonight. There was a portion where they were all working out with UFC guys and doing MMA at some MMA gym....amazing how athletic Drummond is for his size.
Pistons players were given iPads on Thursday that will be their constant companions throughout the season, crammed with teaching tools and scouting aids. "We’ve been waiting on that with all their stuff loaded up," Van Gundy said. "They can get full game, their minutes, their shots, their fouls, their turnovers, opposing players coming up." Van Gundy’s video crew customizes content for each player. He said its loaded remotely onto each player’s iPad 20 minutes after a game ends, so they have it ready for them to study by the time they’ve showered and left The Palace. "Those guys picked it up right away," Van Gundy said. "(Assistant video coordinator) T.J. (Saint) was going through it fast and they all knew exactly what was going on. If it was me with the iPad … he lost me about a minute in. But with them it was all good."
Good piece from McCosky on Flip and his time in Detroit. Maybe the collapse was inevitable given Dumars and his personnel moves, but it would have been nice to see what Flip could have done with a rebuilding team. http://www.detroitnews.com/story/op...us-saunders-deserved-better-pistons/74600470/
So are we making the playoffs this year? I think 40 wins, gets us 6-7 seed in East. Wonder how many games it takes for Johnson to start?
Team was sloppy and will definitely need a go to guy in crunch time, but man was this team fun to watch. Also Drummond was 6 of 10 from the line which is insane.
Way more fun than any time in the last many years. Actually looked cohesive and the effort on teh offensive boards was great. Morris will be as frustrating to watch as we all predicted though.
Drummond didn't even play well. His post ups were garbage. Will be interesting to see if they go to that so much to start the season, because it looked like a concerted effort to get him touches down there tonight. I don't think he scored on any post up attempts. He was definitely great on the boards, though, and the FTs were a nice touch. KCP was great tonight, though, and Jackson was in control all night. If he plays like that all year, he should be very solid. He didn't shoot a high percentage, but that was because he had 3-4 prayers hoisted at the end of the clock. I know he just got back from a concussion, but Blake was really bad tonight. Hopefully he has more in the tank than what he showed, because he really struggled. Baynes was good in the second half, though, which was fun.
The Lions started the year like they were going to be going to the Super Bowl for a quarter or two. I'm not getting my hopes up on playoff talk yet.
Drummond was awful in the post yesterday. Rather have Bullock play over Blake too. Should have a good idea of where this team is at after the 6 game West coast trip.
Nice to get at least a couple wins before the early swing out West. We're going to need to figure out the 4th quarter at some point, because it was ugly tonight and last night wasn't great, either, although we had a big lead then.
Meeks is going to be out a while. I believe this is the injury Durant had last year. Keith Langlois @Keith_Langlois 10s10 seconds agoAuburn Hills, MI Meeks has a Jones fracture of his foot .. Bullock going to get more chances now. No timetable on recovery yet
I think this was the best move. Fuck Rip and Tay iyam. Chauncey Billups and Ben Wallace soon will get the recognition they deserve when their jersey numbers, No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, are retired by the Detroit Pistons. A source with knowledge of the Pistons' intent confirmed the jersey retirements will happen later this season, as first reported Thursday by the Detroit Free Press.
Still don't get why they have continually given those two numbers out. They're both on the low end of the jersey retirement scale, but they were the driving force behind the second-most successful run in the history of the franchise. Ben was a bitch at times near the end, but they should have retired Billups' jersey years ago just to try to break the curse of trading him away.
