Was texting my pal who works for the Pistons tonight. He said they've played the 2nd or 3rd toughest schedule this far. Have to feel good about where they're at, especially considering Reggie has been out.
Richard Hamilton's jersey is getting retired in February. I hope the announcement is a prank to get him excited before telling him the night of that they were joking because fuck that guy. I'm going to tonight's game. Haven't been to the Palace in almost a decade. This seemed like a better idea when I got the tickets before the season than it does now that we're in this funk.
Marcus Morris is now 1-19 from 3 over the last 5 games. I'd also like him to stop taking 21 ft jumpers.
The Warriors are unfair. Just too much stuff. I would guess there were at least 3k GS fans there tonight. Estimated average age of said fans is probably 14.
I'll be honest, I haven't watched a lot lately, but clearly all is not well. Going to need a massive turnaround in the second half. Anyone been following this mess?
This was interesting from a Zach Lowe article today on New Orleans. Russillo brought up the idea of Reggie being on the block (according to NBA people) yesterday, as well.
I've never been a huge Reggie fan, but I would do that deal. Holiday is a better fit with guys like Harris. He's a better defender. And this lottery is awesome and I think worth the risk of the pick being lower. That said, I don't think there's any way SVG is doing that unless the rest of the team hates Reggie so much he feels he has to (which I don't think is close to being the case). He also probably wants to stop fucking around every offseason and keep a group together, and this puts our PG situation in major flux long term (Holiday is a massive injury risk and is only on a one-year deal) and short term (his injury issues could come back at any time).
I'm not sure how I feel about this, but Marc Stein is a good reporter and I doubt it's just made up. He says we've had talks with the Wolves about Rubio for Reggie Jackson. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...ns-discussing-ricky-rubio-reggie-jackson-swap
Hate is probably too strong. But between the team's performance, the players only pow wow around the time he first came back, and articles like these trickling out, I don't think it's a stretch to assume that Reggie isn't the most popular guy in the locker room. SVG may not want to make a move but he also knows that situation isn't going to improve with time. Agree, I don't see it
Rubio is a good defender. Reggie is a terrible defender. That swap would be very good for us, and probably make us a more consistent team. He's also a much "purer" PG, for lack of a better way to put it. But he's an atrocious shooter. He's like the Drummond of PGs when it comes to shooting. While the other guys on the team would get the ball more and be happier, and also get the ball in places to score more often, it would also make it harder on them because no one respects Rubio's shot. Because of that, the ceiling is lower with him, IMO. Maybe it would work out better for us in the long run. I've state numerous times that Reggie is really frustrating for me to watch. That trade seems like a weird move to me, though, and the only sense it makes to me is if SVG comes to the conclusion that Reggie needs to go for this team to do anything.
I dont mind Rubio but with a team full of streaky shooters this trade doesn't seem to improve us much on O. And who do the T Wolves think they are trying include Muhammad in a deal?
Zach Lowe was in Detroit last week and wrote about the team and the issues. Interesting stuff that goes into the frustration SVG and the team has with Drummond and Jackson, especially. Also makes it sound like we've at least had conversations about Drummond in trades, while Jackson is basically worth nothing because he's not healthy. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/18686427
Mother of God that would be awful unless there was a 1st round pick involved in this year or next that isn't protected to the max.
In terms of the cap, the only way Detroit could really make that deal is if Baynes or Boban were in it. Those two ORL players combine to make about $8M more Reggie. We could just trade Reggie for Green's expiring contract if all we wanted to do was dump him. Why take on the 3/$21M remaining for Augustin when you're already paying Ish 2/$12M?
