Is there a trade out there to acquire a legit second line C with some years left on his contract? Help is on the way defensively, although I agreee it's a couple years away from being good.
I too think we will be better next year. Talent wise and record wise. So much dead weight this year. Our prowess in OT just shows that our top talent can compete with anyone, it’s when we have to play our third and fourth lines and anyone but Seider on D where we are atrocious. Larkin Raymond Vrana Bertuzzi (sigh) Zadina Rasmussen Berggren Soderstrom (in two years) Seider Edvinsson Hronek Johansson (in two years) Wallinder (in two years) Nedelkovic That’s a lot to build around. We are a 2C and one more top 4 D from being a playoff team.
Ned following up his 43 last game with saving the first 25 so far tonight. 68 straight saves over 5 periods is impressive. Good to see him bouncing back
It was so insulting at the game last night seeing Marc Staal and Troy Stetcher starting last night. Did see someone rocking an Edvinsson jersey which was pretty sweet. More Let’s Go Red Wings chants than Let’s Go Kraken
Nothing will shock me over the next 20 hours. I’ll set the over/under on remaining deals at 2.5. I think we hit the over with 3. Leddy, Vlad and Zadina are my guesses.
For first time in a few years I dont see us going crazy with trades. I think another minor move or two but that's it.
Makes me wonder if this is part of another deal and these are guys to fill out the roster. We still have a ton of D on the roster.
It looks like we took Sundqvist instead of retaining salary. If that’s the case, we can still retain on two more deals.
So outside of our own picks we have: 2022 2nd - Washington 4th - Colorado 4th - Vegas 7th - Los Angeles 2023 2nd - St. Louis
Leddy was kind of a disaster but honestly with the amount of picks we had last year and covid halting a lot of draft eligible guys from being scouted their draft year, getting a 2023 2nd rounder back for him works out just fine to me.
We didn’t trade Bert, but Yzerman’s media availability keeps getting pushed back so there might be another deal yet to be finalized.
Say we make a deal where we trade Bert, Zadina and our 2021 first for Barzal. He’s going to need a new deal come 2023, as will Larkin. You are probably paying them 8 mil each long term, and halfway through those deals you’re paying Mo and Raymond. That still gives you room to go big on a top six guy this off-season. I present to you a dream scenario. Forsberg - Larkin - Raymond Berggren - Barzal - Vrana Suter - Veleno - Fabbri (once healthy) Erne - Rasmussen - Sundqvist ??? - Seider Edvinsson - Hronek Walman - Lindstrom Ned ???
Can one of Albert Johansson or William Wallinder play next to Seider? They’d only be asked to play even strength and for Seider that’s 18 mins a night. I still think the best spot for Edvinsson’s development is next to Seider not Hronek.
Why not do it now though? I thought the only significance of the trade deadline was that anyone traded after couldn't compete in the playoffs?
You could do it now….they just can’t play. It may be easier to sort through once the draft order has been formalized.
So this article is wrong? https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nhl...e is a specific, with their new squad, however. "While there is a specific deadline for trades, teams can still acquire players from other clubs after March 21. The caveat is that any player traded after the March 21 deadline is not eligible to be placed on a team's postseason roster. They can play the rest of the regular season with their new squad, however. The teams making those trades post-deadline are typically non-playoff teams that are looking to acquire players with term. Some teams acquire players who will be free agents in the summer in order to work a deal before free agency hits. "
Ned fucking sucks. Big summer for Yzerman coming up. This team is far away from even sniffing the playoffs.
Some solid young pieces, a good prospect pool, a shit ton of cap space in a league with a lot of teams tight against the cap, no bad contracts and a proven GM in charge.... I'm still not near as worried about this team as a lot of you. Think they'll be competitive before any other Detroit team outside Tigers
