I love watching him play, but it just seems like his size and style of play just aren't a match and he's going to keep getting hurt. I'd definitely prefer to get something for him.
He’s more valuable to a playoff team over the next few years than he is to Detroit, imo. If Minnesota is involved I would love to work a deal where we trade Bertuzzi for Dumba and a prospect. I don’t want Dumba at all but moving his deal gives the Wild a ton of flexibility and the Wild probably have the best prospect pool in the league. Do what it takes to see if you can get a Brock Faber type guy back.
Odd to say this early in season, but huge chance for Wings tonight if they stay hot. Especially if Carolina beats Washington, could gain 2 pts on a lot of our WC competition that lost today or are losing
Wings got 7 games between now and deadline. Makes sense to wait closer to deadline. Standings could look a lot different
This feels little different that the Lions situation though. Wings will get swept by either Boston or Carolina if they make the playoffs. Still a little bit of ways from actually contending. If Bertuzzi is not coming back, we need to trade him. We’ll make the playoffs without his bitch ass.
Maybe Yzerman isn't getting offers he'd hope for. And idk, getting these young guys some playoff experience even if it is likely a 1st rd loss, I think could be very beneficial. Still think if we're in mix I'd dump Bert and try and get Meier if I thought Bert had no chance of coming back
Well that sucked. Down 2-1 get a 4 minute powerplay and 5 seconds in get a penalty and then give up a 4 on 4 goal and down 3-1 now
I’m currently in Portugal, so I won’t see any games until Saturday. That said, I get not trading Bertuzzi right now with both negotiations ongoing with Larkin and the team winning games. But I also think if a team makes a fantastic offer for Bertuzzi, that Yzerman will accept the deal. I am going to guess that water finds its level with our play over the next two weeks and a team increases its offer for Bertuzzi, making a deal inevitable.
Yeah I just think Stevie wants to get a resolution to Larkin before dealing with Bert. But def is open for the right deal.
Having Larkin pick up a 5 minute penalty just after scoring to take lead and being ejected at the end of a long road trip, previous Wings teams would have folded here. Very solid effort
Pius Suter been here two years now, scored 15 goals last year. Hagg is a journeyman 7th defenseman who scored his 1st goal for team tonight
I know Yzerman doesn’t want to disrupt the room, but man, there needs to be a balance between the playoffs and recouping some assets for the myriad of UFA we have on the team. Buy a player with term and then deal a few guys who won’t be here regardless next season.
Of all people, Berggren does not deserve to be healthy scratched. But I'll take deciding which productive forward to scratch vs which shitty one to play. Going to only get tougher Saturday when Raymond is expected back
In general I agree, but they need to shop Vrana and the kid might need a break. He had the lowest TOI last game of any forward, aside from Larkin who got kicked right away. But yeah, Raymond back definitely gonna be some rough decisions.
I think we have talked about it a lot in here that Yzerman needs to try and deal multiple players like Vrana and Bert for a better player to open up the ice time a little more. Might need to be separate deals but would love to see Yzerman buy a player by dealing other players off of the team.
Berggren hasn’t been especially good the last month so this isn’t the worst thing in the world for him to get a breather. I’d rather he get to work through things in Detroit than GR though.
He had a nice back check last game. He seems to have taken well to the demotion and seems to be trying to prove he'll be more responsible defensively
Yea I missed it live and the replays they showed were heavy on the goal and not the TO so was trusting drunk Mick
Need to get to intermission. Struggling rn. Hagg/Maatta shift of fuckery lead to a couple minute cycle in our zone.
Giddy up fuckers. Big decision coming now with Bertuzzi. Everything else seems like it should fall in place.
It's also good to see this team get hot and win games when it's not solely because Larkin/Bert get hot.
