Sure but I also don’t even know if we need the roster space. We will probably get expanded rosters with no AHL, and guys like Ras might just stay overseas all season. You could keep Abby and busy pay him until it makes more sense to buy him out. Plus buying him out gets you further from the cap floor. I think something more is coming.
A thought is Nashville might be offering #11 if we take Turris. That’s a lot to take though, so I think I would want more than 11.
He’s instantly 2C on this team but that term and AVV is woof. #11 and something maybe If that is the type of move is made it tells you that the front office thinks this team is still 4-5+ years away from signing an impactful free agent and competing for a playoff spot
If Askarov is still sitting at 11 it makes it more tempting but that contract is awful and extends into years we may be able to be competitive
The more I think back to Yzerman meeting with the media the other day, the more I think Askarov is the pick. You can tell he knows this team is so far away that Askarov coming over isn’t a priority, so he can let him develop in Russia for two years and then slowly bring him along with a better team in front of him.
But its dead money for four more years. Yes I'd love more picks, but I'd rather us make a run at someone like Krug than eat that contract for four years. Someone we love would have to fall for 11 and I think I'd still ask for more to consider it
I’d make that trade for Turris and the 11th. His game went south fast but for the next two years Detroit isn’t competing. He can still play. Imagine walking out of this draft with Perfetti/Raymond and Jarvis/Quinn.
Yea, Nashville would need to retain money. I get we arent going to be great next two years, but there are players are critical parts of their development. Team has to be more competitive. And this team realistically could be competitive by 2022-23 season, and having $8.3 mil tied up that season in Turris and Abby buyout is pretty prohibitive. Not to mention Turris would be on the hook another year after that.
For maybe one season at most. If they draft Perfetti or Rossi, don't think it takes them long to be better than Turris
Turris is frail. Easily over 6 foot but so frail. I’m surprised he’s been able to last this long. Both Rossi and Perfetti come with some risk but have huge ceilings.
I think I have talked myself today into Rossi as my favorite of the available guys. Id love to see roll these top two lines next season Bert-Larkin-Mantha Fabbri-Rossi-Zadina It's a weird position to be in, I am not absolutely in love with any prospect (beside Askarov, but he comes with the issue of value of a goalie that high) but on the flip side, I don't really hate any of the guys we've been mentioned taking.
Id much rather take up Vegas offer and get a 2nd to take half of MAF salary, and potentially use our stockpile of picks to move back up into first round instead of taking Turris contract to get 11
Most likely Stutzle will go third. There are many Sens fans who want Rossi at 5 as they feel the German will likely shift to the wing.
Alright bitches. Who do you want us to take? I’m all in on Askarov. If we don’t take goalie, I want Rossi
1. Rossi 2. Askarov 3. Sanderson 4. Perfetti 5. Raymond 6. Drysdale My 3 to 6 changes by the minute, like I said though there isn't someone in there that I dislike. All very similar level beside Askarov
Wings doing a good job keeping shit under wraps. I have absolutely no idea where they are going to go. Even last year I remember a few random tweets day of draft about how much Wings loved Seider
They’ll probably take a guy that we haven’t even discussed. Nobody brought up Seider last year, and he turned out alright.
