So we can turn our attention to the big club now, I guess. I am expecting Timashov, Hirose and Ehn to be qualified. I have my doubts that the same can be said for Perlini and Erne. This is our roster as of now Bertuzzi - Larkin - Mantha Fabbri - Gagne - Zadina Timashov - Fil -Glendening Helm - Nielsen - Ehn/Smith DDK - Hronek Nemeth - Seider Staal - Biega Cholowski I wouldn’t be shocked if Lindstrom and Rasmussen stay on season long loans. I also anticipate us adding another D (Greene?), two forwards and a goalie.
Yzerman also said Zadina is a full time NHL player. His play before the injury to me made that obvious but glad its confirmed he will be up
I'd guess he stays overseas now with current situation, but don't forget Matthias Brome. Yzerman talked him up in the summer as having a shot to make NHL roster. Seems to be playing well overseas this year too. We only signed him to a one year contract so wonder how that plays out
Erne is mildly surprising. He’s the definition of below replacement level. I figured they would take a shot with another dude
His offense has fallen off a cliff, but he’s still valuable defensively. I would gamble on him as our 2C.
Those two won't make us magically good. But as I've stated before, this team needs to be more competitive to help with some of these guys development. And we get fucked every lottery so no point in tanking for worst record.
I am not a huge proponent of giving long term to either guy, but we also can’t afford to be total ass every season either. Even if we sign both guys, we will still be a bottom five team next year and bottom ten the year after. You’re hoping to get them in place for three years from now when the kids are ready.
I hope we can acquire a mid first for 2021 because I absolutely want to take a chance on Swedish goalie Jesper Wallstedt https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/394724/jesper-wallstedt
Ah, jeez. Idk about Markstrom. I guess it's all about the years. There are just hella goalies available hopefully it's under 4 yrs.
Just turned on the Frolunda game. It appears this is a solid website to watch some of the overseas games this year Spoiler: Link http://onhockey.tv/
Both of those rumors seemed more like "people around the league expect them to be in on them because they have so much room..." type things than anything coming out of Detroit.
Lucas Raymond just had an assist taken away for goaltender interference. He has looked impressive the 10 minutes I've watched so far
I think agents are probably playing a role in this, but there is probably some truth that we will inquire on cost. I don’t see us being the highest bidder though.
My take on the draft picks: 4th - Lucas Raymond - RW - Neutral. We were in a tough spot where we picked first of a group of 5-6 relatively equal prospects. We took a guy in a position of least need but possibly the 2nd best player available (Askarov). Time will tell who was the best of that bunch. 32nd - William Wallinder - D - Love. Great size, great skater, and produces. High potential 51st - Theodor Niederbach - C - Like. Undersized but put up great production in Swedish juniors after coming off a knee injury. High potential. 55th - Cross Hanas - LW - Dislike. Medium size with medium production. Dont really see the upside as a second rounder. 63rd - Donovan Debrango - D - Dislike. See above. 70th - Eemil Viro - D - Neutral - Gonna need to see more of him before making a call here, limited tape. 97th - Sam Stange - RW - Neutral. Overager who could become a solid bottom 6 winger. Two way player that can put up points (in the USHL). Low ceiling but decent chance to get there. Probably couldve got him later. 107th - Jan Bednar - G - Love. Great size, great potential. Really athletic. Has flair like Mrazek. Super young, proved himself in the pros as a 16 year old on one of the worst teams in the league. Heading to NA this season. Disappointed in the Draper pick. His teammate Mark Hillier is twice the prospect he is if we are going to stoop to the Canadian high school level. Hate wasting a pick as a pat on the back to a staffer, sign him to a tryout, this is a business. Really wished we couldve made something happen with Nashville at 11 to get Askarov, hopefully we at least tried.
His comments about Markstrom specifically aren't all that telling "Markstrom is the top goaltender available in a crowded marketplace at the position and will almost certainly net a contract with an average value above the $5 million that Robin Lehner got last week from Las Vegas. The Calgary Flames and Detroit Red Wings are believed to have interest. Despite some cap limitations, the Edmonton Oilers will likely come calling as well."
A Canucks writer said he expects Detroit to make the best offer but it doesn’t mean it will entice him.
One of my good work friends is from Boston and a die hard Bruins fan. He is saying word from Boston side is Krug is signing with Wings.
I mean what do you expect him to make salary wise? He is going to get paid. He said Boston thinks he could get 9 mil aav from Detroit, I've seen other places suggest 7.5 mil. The hope would be playing in his hometown offsets some of issues playing for a rebuilding team. OEL got 8.25 aav and Burns 8. Itll be interesting with a flat cap how that effects offers, but I'd guess it would be 8 mil or so a year aav
They’ve drafted a lot of defense and have some solid on team not sure why they would overpay for a defenseman
Defense was biggest problem on this team last few years if you ask me. And I would have to see the contract before saying he's overpaid but 7-8 mil seems about on par with recent contracts We don't have a first pairing defense man on our current roster. A couple guys could get there, but its a big need
Detroit’s current LD depth chart 1. DeKeyser - coming off back surgery 2. Staal - One year left 3. Nemeth - One year left 4. Cholowski - Jury is still out 5. McIssac - two years away 6. Johansson - two years away
