What's his injury status? No need to rush him back
He was expected to return in 6-8 weeks, which he’s right up at 8 weeks now I believe
Best tweet ever from an official team account.
Stetcher hat trick watch lol
Apparently keeping just 5 skaters on the ice is really, really hard.
I know people were expecting more goals, but zadina is really good
When he gets that talent around him in the next couple years the points should go way up.
Rasmussen has been looking good lately too. Maybe something is clicking with him
McIssac is suiting up for GR tonight
He get hurt again?
Skellefta plays today; they are tied at 2 in their series, with the winner advancing to take on Mo. that means we could see Berggren vs Seider m the second round. If Skellefta ends up eliminated, it’ll just be Mo left.
LOL at Mick. Just completely given up.
Mick has been awful for two decades.
Well he heard you because he's wearing a suit now.
I still love Mick...
And be careful what you complain about...a lot of people hated on Rod Allen and Mario and look what we've got now...
I have wondered if Blash might return to help the tank next season.
Scotty bowman couldn’t win with these losers. Bring Blashill back.
Blashill is the Avila of hockey coaches
These are interesting if you have the time...
Part 3 linked. Parts 1 and 2 within the article.
We really should be contemplating an offer sheet for Petterson. It won’t happen, but it’s doable.
Some notes from the pregame skate
- Nielsen is done for the year
- Bert is done for the year
- Veleno not yet cleared and ditto for Fabbri
- Larkin out tonight
Sounds like Larkin might be shut down ad well
I'm torn on it. But at some point, you have to go for it and try to win again. If not, you're the Tigers.
Petterson is 22 so you’re going to have a deal that doesn’t even extend into his 30’s. It’s relatively risk free imo.
Absolutely agree. That is probably less risky than hoping for a great pick. I would probably lean towards that option.
As unlikely as it is, they might be able to get someone of that value in the draft in the next 18 months or so (no idea when the 2022 draft is). And you're looking at 4 solid NHL players in these drafts that they would be giving up. That is less expensive, and builds a more solid foundation on a core, that could stay together a lot longer.
The 2022 draft is loaded, so I don’t mind waiting it out and seeing if we get any lottery luck at that time. This would be a way of controlling our fate a bit easier than relying on the lottery though.
I think there's also something to the idea of sending a message to all the young guys on the roster that you're actually trying at some point. If you continually never do anything but add back end of the roster vets to fill spots/minutes, there's never any urgency because the message you're sending is you expect to suck, anyway. Bringing in someone of that caliber for that price at least says "making the playoffs is possible and we're not actively trying not to do that."
That's part of the problem with the Tigers. When you're rebuilding like they are, at some point your young players you've been losing with for years need that kick in the ass to get them moving forward. Signing Robbie Grossman and Bobby Ryan isn't doing that. Signing or trading for a star can.
But, it wouldn’t shock me if the guys Yzerman wants to send a message to aren’t even on the roster yet (Seider, Raymond, etc). Friedman says he thinks Seider, Raymond, Larkin and Hronek are the guys Yzerman won’t move but he even thinks Larkin could be had for a blockbuster offer. If that is true, Yzerman doesn’t really need to be in a rush because you get a few years before the newness wears off the kids and they realize the situation they are in.
This post just made me more sad.
Larkin has two years left on his deal, with a NTC the final season. I don’t think there is a deal this summer, but next summer wouldn’t shock me. A lot will depend on what number Larkin wants on a new deal.
I would keep him, personally. He would be our Landeskog, which is an important thing to have.
What would even move the needle for Stevie to consider moving Larkin?
The Mantha return, without taking Panik back, would be the floor. The Vrana in the deal would need to be a C though.
Without Panik would the picks have been 2 1sts? (If cap wasn’t an issue for WSH)?
I think we got the second for Pánik. I would want that included in a Larkin deal though.
I can't imagine that anybody would give Stevie what he would need to get back to trade Larkin, which is more of an indictment of Larkin than Yzerman or opposing GMs. I think he’s untradeable.
I would say that’s fair.
I read the Panik move helped us some too. It allows us to protect Namestnikov if we want to in expansion draft because you have to expose a certain number of veteran players and we would have had to expose Namestnikov but now we can expose Panik instead.
That said Namestnikov isn't playing in a way where I think that's a big deal
Ras to the top line between Vrana and Zadina
Put Zadina with talent and in a non Blashill system he is going to be a star
