I think Tatar would definitely be most likely to get moved, but it will be predicated on where they think Mantha is. So far has proven he belongs, but it's such a small sample size that he needs to finish this year strong. A Tatar/XO/Pick package could get someone with top 4 credentials.
Unless it a legit top 4 guy, and I mean LEGIT, then Tats and Goose aren't moving. I agree that one of the guys out of options could be packaged, but it could very well be XO, he has the most upside with the most proof of reaching that at the NHL level. And you gotta think that LTIR loop hole is going to be closed, or adjusted, with the next CBA - it's becoming an egregious and obvious cap circumvention tool and you know Bettman hates being outsmarted like that.
The first order of business this summer is moving Jimmy. I think the new Expansion rules makes that harder to accomplish if Ken actually wants value back. We also need to finally let go of guys like Helm, Quincey and Miller.
Quincey's deal is up at the end of the year, so he can hopefully just go. Smith has one year left, and could be moved independently of any move for a D. I think any deal of Tatar would include one of our glut of D prospects and a pick.
If we're lucky, maybe Trouba? We'd probably need to include XO. One of the young Anaheim guys could be up for grabs too. I think we hold onto Howard for one more year and then let the expansion draft take care of him. The other thought is to package him with Tats, and a D man for Trouba and a middling forward or mid round pick
Trouba is who came to mind for me as well. My guess is he would cost at least what Dougie Hamilton cost in a trade, though we could probably swing that.
I think you do that in a heartbeat though. Now whether Winnipeg does is a totally different story, but I think it makes them think. Trouba/Kronwall DeKeyser/Green Marchenko/Ericsson It isn't great, but it's much improved.
You think they'd ask for that much? Chevy is sort of a puss...and I think they'd love Howard, pavelec and halleybuck aren't exactly franchise goalies. Do they have a prospect in the pipes? Plus, they have lost leverage, it's known they're open to moving Trouba
Calgary, Buffalo and C'bus could all have an interest in Howard, I think. Who does Buffalo have we might be interested in?
No one realistic off the top of my head, Ristolainen and Bogo would be great but they're not getting moved.
Try as they might, huge win. Thought Mantha looked real good. Still think the Wings biggest problems come from their D that have been there for a while.
Fuck they tried to lose that glad to see Mantha tuck one though. Big win nonetheless and the B's lost. Gotta root for the Avs against the Flyaahhhs tonight so there's that
The Flyers have 16 points in their last 10 games. The Bruins are on a 5 game losing streak. Would be awfully nice to get 10-11 points out of the 6 game stretch that started last night, but it will probably be more like 7.
Thank god The Detroit Red Wings have reassigned prospect Vili Saarijarvi to Grand Rapids of the AHL. Saarijarvi, an offensive defenseman selected in the third round (73rd overall of last year's NHL draft, spent last season with the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League. In 59 games, he had 12 goals, 31 assists and 32 penalty minutes for a team that finished with a 20-42-4 record. This season was the Finnish native's second in North America. He spent 2014-15 with Green Bay of the USHL. The move will allow the Red Wings to determine where Saarijarvi plays next season. He's not bound to Flint because he wasn't drafted from a CHL team but was rather selected by Flint in the OHL Import Draft. The Red Wings will meet with the 18-year-old Saarijarvi at some point after the season to determine his future. He could return to the Firebirds, be assigned to another junior team or turn pro, which seems unlikely. It's possible the Red Wings could choose to send him somewhere other than Flint, which made international news when owner Rolf Nilsen fired the coaching staff twice, leading to the OHL to take over operations of the first-year club. Nilsen rehired coach John Gruden and his staff after the first firing only to can them again in February. The players walked out in protest the first time Gruden was fired, leading to him being rehired. In January, Saarijarvi helped Finland win the gold medal at the World Junior Championship.
Nothing better than playing a home game during the stretch run against a team you're battling for a spot with, and getting blown out.
Looks like we are about to be down an assistant Multiple sources tell me Tony Granato will be the next Head Hockey Coach at Wisconsin. Brother Donny will likely join him on staff. 11:32am - 27 Mar 16
So Jimmy is getting the start tonight lets hope for a win-win in that Jimmy gets a shut out auditioning to be Buffalo's new goaltender.
This summer I was so irrationally and stupidly excited about the Green signing and completely ignored how bad he was in Washington the last few years. That last power play was a pretty good example of how inept he's been
I've recently become numb to situations that usually cause stress and anxiety due to the wings season.
Wow... This is like a fucking nightmare that I can't wake up from... And now Kronwall takes a penalty...
