Drafting 5-10 would just land us in a sustained purgatory period. Either gotta go with a complete tank job and go for 1st overall imo, or make trades and try to rebuild on the fly... which usually only delays the inevitable which is a full-on complete rebuild.
Larkin but mantha is an upside player with 40-50 goal potential....larkin is clearly an NHL player and will contribute. Mantha is on his way to be a very good sniper but if he doesn't accomplish that he is useless. Larkin's game is much more complete
The Banks - care to give an analysis on those guys? Seems like a week draft year in general. Also, I know these are projected, but why the FUCK is Sheahan still playing consistently, especially with Larkin and Tats? I'd prefer a 2rd line of Abby-Larking-Tats...or maybe give Jurco a long look. Really sick of our current roster decisions. http://www.wingingitinmotown.com/20...roit-red-wings-projected-lineups-how-to-watch
Nolan Patrick isn't a Matthews, McDavid, or Eichel, but he's no RNH either. Also more impressive than Seguin/Hall and MacKinnon. 6'3" 200 lbs, great in every facet, just doesn't have the elite skills. Probably ends up a slightly less physical Jamie Benn or Ryan Getzlaf. Timothy Liljegren, well the easiest comparison is Karlsson. Same size, elite skater, puck mover, and overall offensive ability. Maybe a smaller OEL is just as fair of a projection. Offensively he's better than Karlsson, OEL, Hedman, and Larsson at the same age. Will his defense come around to become a complete #1D? Time will tell. Hischier - RNH. Small, but skilled, and can put up a ton of points. Will his frame allow him to put on the weight necessary to take the step that RNH couldn't? Giroux is another comparable.
My office mate is a huge Bruins fan....that was a fun game, I wish I didnt turn down going to game with him
I already know there's going to be a stretch where Mrazek randomly gets hot and we rip off 6 wins and needlessly ruin our draft position. And I will not be pleased. Also, did I correctly see that Patrick fucking Eaves has 16 goals?!
I agree on a lot but disagree big time on hischier. He is not a perimeter player like nugent-hopkins he will get in the shooting area and make things happen. I would compare him more to Martin st-louis than nugent Hopkins, that kid can shoot the puck.
And Giroux is an example of what? The guy is top five getting points in the NHL for the last 6-7 years....
Style of play. Someone who is highly skilled but mostly undersized and was able to get past the latter. Basically I was saying that his spectrum is somewhere between RNH and Giroux.
Nugent-hopkins was never a shooter in juniors... Why would you compare him to hischier? Hischier has 31 goals and 32 assists so far in the q as a 17....
Ok, i got you. I think you need to look at him as more of a ehlers type. Which is a little like st-louis. Hishier is not a nugent -Hopkins type. To me nugent Hopkins in recent draft is strome Guys that flots in the perimeter.
HSJ says trading Mrazek makes sense if we are selling at the deadline. She definitely got this idea from Ken.
Fuck this one point bull shit to create parity - it also creates delusional owners who think they have a chance at the playoffs.
Toronto is going to be so good. This is what Ken needs to be watching to realize we are so far away from being Cup contenders. Also James Mirtle did an interview today when Holland did say we were unlikely to buy at the deadline. So that's nice.
"We'll see if we're sellers or we stand pat." Jesus, Kenny And yea - Toronto is going to be scary good
Headed into the ASB we are 7 points back of BOS for the third seed in the Atlantic and 6 points back of PHI for the second WC. Of course also currently last in the entire Eastern conference.
Svechnikov has 19 points his last 23 games. Between he and Mantha we will have two good power fordwards in our top 6. Also all the beat guys are insinuating Coreau is the number 1 goalie now. I mean Christ:
Good loss tonight to put us last in the East. HSJ wrote that we probably needed 10 points in the first seven games after the break to at least considering standing pat at the deadline. That is such a specific statement that I assume it's right from Ken himself. Losing this game is going to make that quest impossible. And now we get a hot Islanders team Friday with a trip to Nashville on Saturday. Just lose both and get the garage sale posters up.
Down one goal, a minute left, power play and goalie pulled....naturally a spot to get Sheahan on the ice.....which he was that whole power play
So I've never thought about this in my life but...who would we like to sell at the deadline and what draft picks do we think we can get for them?
Vanek might get a first if we retain salary. This is absolutely a sellers market so it wouldn't shock me if we got it done. We will probably move Smith for a 4th or 5th. I assume we try to deal Gus or Tatar. A second seems to be the high end for those guys. There is a ton of conjecture from the best writers we would try to deal Mrazek but that is the ultimate sell low player. It would be asinine to consider it.
The goalie situation at the deadline is completely dependent upon what Kenny plans to do for the expansion draft.
He is behind Bishop and maybe even MAF (if PIT wanted to move him, which is unlikely) on the trade market.
It's tough to picture who the Vegas GM would find more valuable between Howard and Mrazek. Pretty easy to think that they would find Bishop and Flower more valuable than Howard though.
yea, i think Bishop or Flower get taken in the expansion, but that still leaves Winnipeg and Dallas as potential spots for Jimmy and who ever doesn't get taken...not sure who we'd get in return. You gotta think if we deal to dallas we need to take one of those heinous goalies and their shit contracts back...which isn't ideal...
Does Blashill survive this train wreck? Wish Illitch would fire Holland/Blashill for Yzerman/Hitchcock.
