I doubt Yzerman would leave Tampa. I highly doubt he would leave Tampa to come pick up the fucking hot mess Ken Holland has created with this roster moving forward.

Ericsson fractured his wrist tonight. Blash says he's out 6-8 weeks. He's actually been one of our more competent D so this isn't bad for tanking purposes. We need to just lose these next three to give us the best possible chance of selling.
Not sure there is a point in firing him. I believe he is on a four year deal so I suspect he'll get to start next year as the coach as well.

So Minnesota today, STL at home on Wednesday, the Caps at home Saturday and at the Pens a week from today. I would assume we might win one of those and maybe get a point out of another, but man would it be nice to just lose them all. What is interesting is we play the Isles on the 21st and then we get our week off, before we head West. Considering we play in VAN the night before the deadline, I expect that week off will be when any deals go down. With Mrazek playing well I can't help but wonder if we will try and trade him. I wouldn't give up on him yet but all the best writers are saying he could go which means the idea is being kicked around by Ken. Of course I am likely speculating over nothing. We will probably win three of the next four and stand pat. Hell we may just stand pat anyway.
If the last six years of Ken Holland have taught me anything, we'll stand pat no matter what the standings look like because "the right deal just wasn't out there." And then we'll waive another young player in favor of an aging veteran.
I've been very hesitant to hop on the "I think it's time Holland moves upstairs" train, but I can't help but think that's the best course of action. I don't think Blashill is the issue, but I also don't think he's gonna lead this team to a deep run in the playoffs anytime soon. I'm not sure I trust Holland to properly rebuild this team; we need a rebuild. Too many aging and ineffective core players to retool into anything other than a bubble team at best.
Holland has sucked for years. He's been a disaster since the salary cap, and they couldn't sign whatever free agent they wanted.

I assume Ken gave them his blessing, or Mrazek is a real cocksucker to the media. The matinee start today means no morning skate, but it’s likely Jared Coreau will get the start. Petr Mrazek played well in Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Columbus, but he’s been inconsistent (bad couple of goals in the previous loss to Columbus, bad couple of goals last Thursday at Washington) and it makes sense to get Coreau some more NHL experience. The Wings (22-23-10, 54 points) are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, and while the standings remain tight, they are now eight points out of third place in the Atlantic Division and seven points out of a wild-card spot. Given the inability of the Wings to put together a run, it seems clear they will be sellers as the March 1 trade deadline approaches.
I don't think that is totally true. He was really good coming out the lockout. The problem is he totally outsmarted himself with long term deals trying to be loyal to his guys. Meanwhile Chicago keeps dealing off its supporting cast to stay relevant. That is what he did not do.
Fucking kills me that HSJ could write Coreau is our number 1 goalie and the most likely guy to be protected in the expansion draft

Boston is about to put us 10 down in the Atlantic, which all but assures us that we can only get in as the second WC, and we are 7 points back there, so yeah this party is over.

I think they would love for Jurco to do something so they can trade him. He is done here one way or another. I just hope we are able to trade Vanek and Smith before the deadline. If we can move Ott for something that's great too. I doubt we move any multi year deals until the summer.0
Jurco has had some terrible puck luck the past couple years but he still hasn't been given a fair shake. I can still see him being a 15+20 player if ever given the ice time and linemates. I hope he's still around next year.

Holy shit - my first game of the season...I spent more time talking to my buddies than I did watching. That was fucking painful...everyone looked like they were having a stroke...although Z & Jensen looked good. Almost never saw AA on the ice...wayyyyyy too much of sheahan, helm and ott. Jesus H Fuck.
