I dont feel too much different tbh, although I was never completely sky is falling long term. They are playing now like I kind of expected them to this year (playoff borderline) and the young players still make the future look solid. I'd say maybe slightly better because it's always good to see a few of the prospects show they got it at nhl level.
I feel neutral. I think we are clearly better but still riding a historic PP run. Plus our top line is playing at an unsustainable offensive pace. Things will likely even out over the second half of the season but the contributions from the kids are big for the future.
The other teams performance is why it’s important to focus on points % and how many teams are ahead of Detroit in the standings. The reality for Detroit is a lot of other teams have to play poorly in addition to Detroit playing well to sniff the playoffs.
It's why it's always hard to say what a good season is going in. If we miss the playoffs again but Raymond is a 90 point scorer, Kasper keeps playing like a top 6 player, and all our young D continue to impress and excell I'll take that over being a 8 seed riding Kane and Tarasenko scoring 30.
They don’t have to play poorly, just not at 106-120 points pace. And Ottawa and Columbus aren’t going to maintain a 1.5 points per game pace.
Need an outlier to hit big(Buchelnikov) or they have to make a trade. I like Kasper, MBN, Danielson but I don't think any of them are going pt per game guys. I think D and G will hopefully work itself out between Mo/Ed/ASP/AlJo/FA and Cossa/Trey. But forward scoring is still a massive issue going forward.
Edvinsson/ASP is a natural fit if we are going to keep Ed/Mo separated I’d rather AlJo be an elite #5 than Mo’s partner.
Just get me Marcus Pettersson. I get he can’t move the puck but you don’t need him to if he’s next to Mo or ASP.
We’re never beating Edmonton. Is there a player on their team that isn’t better than their Red Wing counterpart?
The big salary cap bump appears to finally be happening. Up 7.5M for next year. "According to the memo, obtained by ESPN, the salary cap for 2025-26 will rise to $95.5 million, with a floor of $70.6 million. In 2026-27 it is projected to increase to $104 million with a floor of $76.9 million, and in 2027-28, it will again go up to $113.5 million with a floor of $83.9 million."
Not ready to push Mick out yet but Dekeyser is really good on TV for as few reps as he's had. Would like to see him get worked in a little more.
Not sure. He only ever did pre and post game (maybe 10 or so games a year)..Danny is solid color guy. Even this backup PBP guy isn’t horrible.
These two old school uniforms are making me so happy. And still in the Saddledome. Feels like I’m up late watching a West Coast game in middle school.
Fun fact, I went to school with his step daughter and have met him multiple times. He might be a drunk, but was a swell guy.
