Seider is so fucking good. So awesome to watch him bloom when not shackled to both an absolute dogshit partner and every team's first line.
Ed is so good. We have two #1 D and they are both in their young 20s. Future is bright. AlJo has proven he can play any top 4 role. ASP just needs to be serviceable on D on whatever pairing then eat PP1 minutes.
Nothing, he can play any top 4 role, ideally ASP pans out to expectations and we find a LHD partner for Seider.
Johansson can play a top four role on a borderline wildcard team. He looks like a good third pairing D on a good team which is great. If he’s in our top four 2-3 years from now it means we aren’t very good.
When can ASP join the team ? Bring over MBN to GR Bring up Danielson Dump Tarasenko in the Detroit River
Skelleftea’s regular season ends 3/11. They are currently 6th and the top 10 make the playoffs. 6 points clear of the 11th team.
I think Danielson is ready for Detroit, mainly because he’d almost assuredly come up to play the wing. I think Watson is next in line for a call up, though.
Back to back and back half of a Canadian west coast trip and it's getting away from us quick. Let's hold on to at least get a point here
My quick math tells me we haven't had 3 30+ goal scorer in same season nor have we had a 35+ goal scorer since 2008-09 Currently on pace for Larkin 36 goals Debrincat 36 goals Raymond 31 goals
Would obviously like to make the playoffs but I got this feeling they are going to come up short like last year, which is the worst spot to end the season. Middle of the league draft position more than likely so you aren’t getting an elite prospect. Everyone another year older. Should have just wasted this year again and hope for a top 3 pick and then go next year. Also should have never signed Kane and Tarasenko imo.
I'm not going to complain about our best players getting even better (Larkin, Raymond, Cat, Seider) and our young guys integrating into lineup and playing well (Kasper, Johansson, Edvinsson, Soderblom, Berggren, etc)
I was a proponent of bottoming out under Lalonde but even then I do think some guys would have figured things out and we still would have ended up with the 7th or 8th best lottery odds. So with that being the case, the current path is fine. I think we are still not nearly as good as our record indicates since the coaching change but we keep banking points and the East is a mess, so who knows what happens next? The reality though is that Yzerman has to make a trade at some point for an impact player. The draft and develop strategy only gets more daunting as you continue to creep up the standings.
WWP has me fired up about the future of this team. We are in as good of shape as any team with the Larkin, Seider and Raymond contracts with the new cap. They pointed out we could sign both Marner and Rantanan this offseason to 15 mil contracts and still pretty easily make it work cap wise with a few minor moves. Obviously other teams will have some cap, but having 3 star level guys locked up for 6+ more years at what are going to be incredible contracts puts us in a really good spot. Need to go out and get at least one star level player this offseason minimum.
Cap will be 95M next year, we currently have 73M committed, so 22M available. 17 players signed, so 6 will eat into that 22M. RFAs are Berggren, Soderblom, and Johansson
Those 6 spots will have a few filled with cheaper guys like Cossa, Danielson and ASP potentially. Buyout Copp and trade Holl with a pick or prospect which would be more doable since he has a year left only. Just like that you are pretty much there. Someone would probably take a chance on Tarasenko too at only a year left on his contract if you really were looking at two big time forwards. Realistically I don't think you are getting both those guys, but it could work. Could very easily sign one and add a second really good player too.
If you re-sign Berggren, Soderblom, and Johansson then bring in Cossa, Danielson, and ASP then we are at 23. Copp buyout (4.1M savings) and trading Holl (3.4M savings) gives another 7.5M, which gives us 29.5M to work with for 8 spots. No way can we afford both Marner and Mikko at 15M without serious moves. We can sign 1 with these moves but with 14.5M for 7 others it’s gonna be tight. AlJo isn’t gonna be some 1.5M contract, he’s a legit #4D.
Is it just me or is Veleno the slowest fast skater out there? Or at the very least his edge work isn't great/agility is weak...I get not going all out every second but often times he just looks a step slow, especially when the game gets condensed
I think a trade is the best route The WWP guys can say whatever they want Don’t think there’s anyway both Marner and Ratt hit free agency And if they do , they choose Detroit Also don’t like that possible free agents would be making twice as much as the homegrown superstars
With how much the cap is increasing, to improve the roster we going to have to pay someone more than our homegrown guys. All three of their contracts will be Steals in short time
I know , and it’s awesome but paying some other guy like Marner twice as much as Raymond is crazy to me Especially when Marner ain’t no dog like Razor
think he’ll go bridge deal But he won’t have the counting stats as mo and would be better if it got done before ASP got there
Suspension worthy incidents need to be looked at in game, you can’t miss 5 and a game infractions and just suspend the guy later. Anything questionable take a minute. (Need to see a replay before determining in this instance)
