Don’t like moving up there. You knew that Doan was going next so unless you thought Vegas was taking your guy then that’s a waste of a pick.
People seem to be all over the board on him. Saw an article debating if he would go 28, Craig Button had him 32. But I see other places had him in 50s, 60s and even later
We've drafted a 6'5" D, 6'6" G and 6'3" D. Yzerman at least putting together potentially a decent basketball lineup
I think we're back at 7 picks. Which is still good considering we moved up twice and got a 25 year old starting goalie and top pair d with other picks in the draft
Carter Mazur was a teammate of Drapers kid at Little Ceasars. Born in Detroit. A kid our scouting department probably knows well, which isn't a surprise in a draft where a lot of guys had limited years last year
Thanks for reminding me of that truly awful pick. Draper’s kid managed to put up just 7 points in 37 games in the USHL in his D+1 year.
Checking in to say I hate the Mazur pick. Draper has way too much of a part in our drafting strategy.
Seems like ties to Draper or ties to Frolunda there is a good chance we take them. That said I like this pick
We are loaded with lottery tickets in our farm system, and we have young guys on the roster that have some upside. While I don’t think it’ll happen, man is the time right to go after Petterson with an offer sheet.
I think if we wanted to be fucking nuts, we would offer Pettersson 3x10. You are risking it blowing up if he leaves for UFA when the deal ends but I assume that one works itself out in time. Five years makes the most sense, but three years probably fucks Vancouver the most.
Also, Kronwall should just buy a place in Frolunda. We have Edvinsson, Neiderbach, Soderblom and Dower-Nilsson all on the team.
I like the Calle Jarnkrok comp https://smahtscouting.com/2021/07/23/scouting-report-liam-dower-nilsson/
Yzerman said we have five spots to fill: three forward and two D. He said some spots could go to kids (he mentioned Berggren and Raymond by name but made it seem like Berggren is the guy with the better chance)
Think he is really high on Berggren, heard him make a comment last night's presser that "he'll be with us next year". I guess he could have just meant in camp / the organization, but wouldn't be shocked if he gives him a shot. Also wouldn't shock me if Ryan is brought back. Don't think Bertuzzi gets dealt, think they would have done that pre draft. Also think Glendening gets brought back. I'd guess we look something like Vrana-Larkin-Zadina Bertuzzi-Fabbri-Ryan Rasmussen-Veleno-Namestnikov Erne-Glendening-(one of the young guys like Berggren, Smith, Svech or Hirose ) Nielsen and Smith if he isn't above, think he's out of options Leddy-Hronek (FA like Martinez)-Seider DeKeyser-Stecher Lindstrom Nedeljkovic Greiss
Berggren plays a complete and mature game and put up a PPG as a 20 year old in the SHL. I think he can handle 4th line minutes no problem.
Honestly not sure we bring in any free agents now. Think we could bring back Ryan and Glendening. Maybe someone instead of Ryan but seems like the two trades may have been our moves
I'm going based on reality. Yzerman has already said he is playing Leddy with Hronek. You think Blashill is going to play a rookie 2nd line over Stecher? Not saying thats not what I'd do, but I've seen enough skilled rookie forwards play on 4th line for Blashill to expect things to be different here
