It annoys me to watch that clip of all the blocked shots, and then realize Bertuzzi blocking a shot is keeping him out of our next two games. We are going to get out of the building tonight I’m afraid, and I’m putting it at his feet.
My guess is Lindstrom goes on IR to make room. I assume that beyond Bertuzzi, we have a guy or two out from the block party as well.
It's also not talented enough to be playing without its leading scorer and one of its best players for the second time in 9 games because he's an anti-vax moron.
I don’t think you should, especially when you can send Rowney or Smith down with little chance of either being claimed.
Tough one, but this has been a nice stretch of games. We need to have a much better game Tuesday though, after what Montreal did to us last week.
We’re not ready to compete so games like these are great. Kids look good. Producing. Gaining experience. Zero points for the Wings. Zadina 1+1 Veleno 1+1 Hronek 1+0 Raymond 0+1 Rasmussen 0+1 Seider 0+1
I feel like when Vrana is back, we have a big decision to make on Bertuzzi. The guy is a chud, but maybe if he stays hot another month he gets some Olympic buzz which makes him go get the shot. That is unlikely mind you, so then, assuming he’s a more than a .5 PPG player; don’t you have to trade him? I would love to see him stay the way he’s playing, but his current choices are a detriment to the team and I don’t see that flying with Steve. That said, if you keep him, get Vrana back and Veleno sticks, man you could have something brewing. Bertuzzi - Larkin - Raymond Zadina - Rasmussen - Vrana Fabbri - Suter - Veleno Namestikov - Stephens - Erne I do think we move a guy like Fabbri at the deadline if we don’t move Bertuzzi though.
You see if Veleno is a 2nd line C at that point, I think. Suter is really a 3C. In any case, having good players on the 3rd line would be nice.
I think it’s worth exploring, but Rasmussen has developed into a very good defensive C. I think putting him with Vrana and Zadina gives you a balanced line. Veleno probably needs to flip with Suter on the third line for this season.
That’d be a great question to ask Bertuzzi. “If it meant going to the Olympics, would you take the shot?”
Montreal is a total mess still, so we better fucking win tonight, especially after that disaster last week.
But seriously, fuck Bertuzzi for possibly costing us two thirds of our top line because he can’t stay off Facebook
Seider thinking DeKesyer could make that play is a rookie mistake. He’s gotta treat every shift with DDK like we are on a PK.
I'm annoyed Seider is so good he's getting the "put the deadweight with him to cover" treatment now instead of the rookie pair them with a better player to learn
It really frustrates me to watch tonight’s game knowing Bertuzzi probably spent the day in a Boston hotel waiting for JFK to show up.
Not a very good team to start with missing the 3 guys who have proven they can create their own offense on this roster, not a shocking result. I wish Blash would break up the Seider and DeKeyser pairing.
A few thoughts after ten games - DeKesyer is cooked, which makes Blashill and Houda’s reliance on him should a fireable offense. - Rasmussen has developed into a nice defensive 3C, but the offensive game isn’t evolving and he’s still too easy to knock off the puck. If he can turn knot a Hanzal, that would be great. He needs to live in the weight room though. - Veleno should be up full time. Not even sure it’s a question at this point, but I’m sure he’s going back tk GR. - Erne is a nice complimentary piece, but he’s not a top nine player on a good team, and he definitely shouldn’t be on the PP. - Bertuzzi needs to go if he doesn’t get vaccinated by the New Year. We cannot afford to have a top six player out considering our bottom six players are mostly complimentary pieces. The idea of him watching these Canadien games and still not getting vaccinated is a bridge too far for me. - When Vrana comes back, he should play with Zadina and Veleno. Updated top 10 prospects 1. Edvinsson 2. Cossa 3. Veleno 4. Berggren 5. Johansson 6. Wallinder 7. Neiderbach 8. Soderblom 9. Sebrango 10. Bulum
Also, Nedeljkovic has been very good, first game not withstanding. His ability to play the puck has helped our D tremendously, it’s just a shame he gets almost no help when Seider, Leddy or Hronek are off the ice.
Soderblom ahead of at least Niederbach, and maybe Wallinder, imo. Telling that 6 out of our top 7 non goalie prospects are Swedish. Our NA scouting under Holland was absolutely atrocious. Hopefully Stevie is revamping it. Draper being involved is a concern to me. I’m still offended that they wasted a valuable draft pick on his shitty kid. Liam Dower Nilsson should be on people’s radar. He’s looking like he could’ve been a steal in the 5th this past year.
I didn't think he was that bad in the first game, either. We were completely overmatched for long stretches of that game, even if we somehow scored 6 goals.
Agree that he wasn’t bad, but it was not a great start even with how bad the D played. He’s been great beyond that though.
I love Elmer but I think all three guys are pretty close, so I put the wing last of the three. And I do agree our NA scouting became a joke under Holland.
Hope everything is alright. My mind immediately goes to a death in the family, and then I get more pissed that Larkin’s personal reason could be the death of a family member and Bertuzzi’s personal reason is being a fuckwad.
