No idea what you do with Howard, but this can’t keep up.

Problem is, the Griffs need Pickard, so making him the backup isn’t ideal. I think you gotta make another deal with the goalie and cut Jimmy loose.

And your odds on favorite to be the coach next season is Gerard Gallant.

Fil was ruled out for the rest of tonight with an injury. Veleno or Ras will probably get a call up.

Which happens first this year (if either do)

A Jimmy Howard shutout or a Justin Abdelkader goal?

33 goalless games this year, and 1 his last 41 games last year so we are at 1 goal in 74 games for Abdelkader now. And only 11 assists. So glad he makes $4.25 for 3 more years after this one...

Since he signed his 7 year deal he has 26 goals 52 assists in 243 games and is a minus 50. Has to be one of worst contracts in Detroit sports history

I really like Raymond but if Steutzel or Rossi are going to play C at the next level, I think you have to bite.

I think you take whoever doesnt go at 3 between Raymond and Stuetzel. For a while I was thinking Lafreniere 1 and Byfield 2 and didnt care after that because it would be a disappointment. However I'm starting to come around on Raymond and Stuetzel as top end guys. Actually saw one of NHL.com guys have Stuetzel going 2

Of those three I am leaning Stutzle at the moment. Rossi is tiny and Raymond is an undersized scoring winger that isnt scoring (even if hes in the SHL).

Was at the game last night, pretty tragic they lost tbh. Dominated play, doubled in shots. Their PP coach is such a fucking moron, also Seider doesn't play on it either.

Anyway, Seider had some huge hits. He's so fluid for being that big.
Veleno was in alone 3 different times and fucked each of them so that was disappointing. His defense is good already though.
Svech is such a sad case. End of 2nd wiped out, came off the ice screamed fuck and throw his stick and went straight to locker room. Came back out in 3rd, took a penalty, and watching him skate his knee gives out on strides. Sadly I don't think he'll ever turn it around.

He could break the record if he keeps playing. 30ish goals a year for the next 6 years and he has it. With his shot he can be a goal scorer even when he slows down.

Embrace the suck, lads. If we're lucky and grab a top 2 pick I think 2022 is when we can start thinking about contending. Goalie definitely needs to be addressed in some way though, and picking one won't bear fruits for years. It's honestly probably later than 22 though, there are still so many holes on this team.

I’m still baffled that we chose Howard over Mrazek. Armchair GM is the easiest game in the world when you’re up against Ken Holland.

Fabbri has been an awesome pickup but I’m starting to think trading him might be more beneficial than keeping him. If we can get a second for him, I think I pull the trigger.

He is a super derisive player. The Rangers are asking for a lot, but they have no leverage. I would probably deal AA for him though.

Here is what Athletic said on Fabri. They had him listed under players that could be moved for right offer.

Could plausibly move for the right offer
Robby Fabbri (RFA after this season, $900,000 cap hit):

Fabbri is maybe the most interesting case here. On one hand, he represents the biggest trade win of Yzerman’s Detroit tenure so far, after the Red Wings acquired him for fourth-line center Jacob De La Rose from St. Louis early in the season. Fabbri, since arriving, has lived up to his mantle as a former 21st overall pick, scoring 23 points in 34 games, including 10 goals in that span. That’s a great add for Yzerman.

The question now is: Do you extend Fabbri this summer and hope he can keep this up, eventually slotting in as the kind of 20-goal, third-line scorer contending teams always need? Or do you go the route of the one red paper clip?

For those unfamiliar, back in the early 2000s, there was a Canadian man who started out with one red paper clip and traded it for a pen, then traded the pen for a doorknob, then the doorknob for a camp stove, and so on … all the way until he had acquired a house. In this case, by getting Fabbri for a player they once claimed off waivers, the Red Wings have already skipped some steps in that metaphor. But how much further could they take it if they’re willing to gamble and move him again? Because of Fabbri’s injury history, I don’t think the Red Wings could get a first-round pick for him. But is there a contending team that wants a playoff-tested scorer and is willing to give up a different pick or a prospect with real upside? That seems more plausible. If so, how do you weigh that potential against what Fabbri already is?

It’s ultimately a philosophical question. Fabbri is in the Red Wings’ top six right now, and he’s shown enough to think he can stick in the top nine even when this rebuild ends. He’s only 24, so the safe, smart move is probably to take the win and extend Fabbri. But if someone offers a chance at a house …
