So the Rangers have 3 goalies on active roster? Georgiev didn’t play last night. It was some other dude.
Yeah that was Shesterkin. He’s arguably the best young goalie in the NHL. They had to bring him up because there was buzz he might head back to Russia. He’s elite.
Some amazing stats on this team Abdelkader still only has one goal since early December 2018. He has also been on over 22 minutes of power play time this season and has no goals this season. AA was another -3 tonight, so he is -38 in 37 games The team as a whole is 0-13-1 against the metropolitan You could DOUBLE this teams point total and they would still have the 12th worst record and be 5 points out of a playoff spot. They have scored 20 less goals than any other team in the league despite playing as many as 4 games more than some of the other teams. Also given up 22 more goals than any other team. Goal difference is TWICE as bad as second worst team.
Knew the defense and bottom 2 lines would be atrocious but I'm disappointed we arent getting more from our young forwards. Granted Bertuzzi has been solid and AA/Mantha have been hurt, but thought they'd score some more this year collectively. I've never seen a team as bad at secondary scoring as the wings are. There are literally only about 5-6 forwards on this team who can score a goal and at any given time it seems at least 2 are out of the lineup. Larkin has seemingly taken a step back and AA has taken a big step back and cant stay healthy. Bertuzzi, Hronek, Bernier and a healthy Mantha are the only real players performing as or better than expected in preseason (again when healthy). Zadina is probably in there too and Fabbri has been a nice surprise. That's about it though except maybe Helm.
Hirose has 19 pts in 22 games in AHL Ras has 14 in 19 games Think you have to give those two a shot again at some point this year to see what they can do. I also would love to them waive someone like Abdelkader and send them down to GR like they did with Ericsson to send a message. There is a huge buffer for that last place spot, I'm for seeing what the kids can do now. And by that I mean dont pull a typical Blashill and throw them on the 4th line and play them 6 min a night, give them a real shot
100% this. Everyone knew the D/Goaltending was gonna be atrocious (though maybe not this bad) but the issues on offense (some injury related) have been much more concerning to me.
There are a lot of issues with our offense. - The players are just not good offensively, outside of 4-5 guys. - Our D cannot transition into offense when Hronek isn’t on the ice. They also can’t get the puck out of our end. - We play low event hockey because the D is so bad. Wings games are boring because we can’t transition offensively, so we clog the neutral zone and play dump and chase hockey. - Our PP is trash.
I really like Fabbri but I am convinced more than ever that we need to deal him now. I think you trade him and AA either now or this Summer.
Yes, especially since he doesn’t consider Zadina a prospect. Seider appears to be elite. Veleno and Rasmussen are headed towards being solid pros. Most of our top ten beyond those three guys are lottery tickets though.
Wings are on pace for 42.5 points. If we continue that pace, the Kings who are in second to last place could go 0-28-0 and we would still finish with a worse record.
15 points separate Washington and Edmonton right now, the best record, and 15th best in the NHL. 15 points separate the Wings and the Kings.
I have seen a couple places suggest Edmonton may be interested in trading rights to Jesse Puljujarvi for AA. None of them seem real legit, but that may be an interesting option. He wasn't the greatest in Edmonton, but he was a former high pick and is still only 21 years old and is having a monster year in Finland in the sm-liiga. If we can't get a first for AA from another team, a flyer on Puljujarvi may not be a bad return considering AA is having a bad season. Also think we may be able to get a pick back with him as well.
Made me look up Nail Yakupov. Crazy that hes already 26 and also that his best season (out of 6) was his rookie year. Now putting up .4 PPG in the KHL.
Another pathetic showing tonight beside Howard who actually looked like an NHL goalie for maybe the second time this year Abdelkader now at 1 goal in his last 79 games. And now at 29 straight games without a point Outside of Abdelkader point draught, we also have the following forwards draughts Glendening - No points or goals in 13 games Erne - No points in 12, no goals in 19 Ehn - No points in 8, no goals in 20 Helm - No points in 6, No goals in 16 Smith - No points in 6 Nielsen - No goals in 7 before injury That's 5 forwards with no goals in 13+ games, and 6 forwards with 6+ games without a point
Is it bad to play an entire period on the penalty kill? Asking for a friend/professional hockey franchise.
Is he the most useless forward in the league? I am not even talking salary at this point, which make it's worse. But seriously 1 goal in 80 games and no points in 30 games has to be one of worst offensive marks for forwards in the leagues, anyone else near there have to be defensive specialist. Abdelkader isnt even good enough defensively to get consistent PK time either
I can't think of another "top 6" forward with that type of insane lack of production. It's comical at this point.
We have 6 of the top 7 in worst +/- in the NHL. Athanasiou is rather gifted, however. He's - 39 in only 40 games. That is truly remarkable.
Hirose and Smith have more value than about 4-5 forwards still on the team....but I guess they want to get them more minutes in GR.
