Yes that’s fine but Perry, Getzlaf and Kesler are all cuntier than usual tonight. The third period could get ugly and there has already been three fights.
While the current losing streak is awesome, I do expect a decent run (though by decent I mean something like going 5-5). I still expect us to end up around 6th in the lotto.
I think a decision has probably already been made. I tend to lean towards the idea that he moves to an executive role and that Draper takes over as GM. I expect an announcement within a few days of the season ending, no matter what the decision is. I do think the Seattle job is something Holland wants, so him moving upstairs gives him a chance to recharge in preparing for pursuing that job. I don’t know what to expect from Chris Illitch at this point though. I don’t think he will just blow it up and hire someone outside the family. If he does, I think the job will go to Yzerman’s right hand man, Julien Brisebois. Brisebois is the Lightning’s cap guy. I think we need a guy more involved with scouting though.
Does Draper have a decent rep as a front office guy? Or is that likely to end up being more of the same, only with someone less experienced?
Draper did an interview a few weeks back that gave me the impression he knows the roster can’t be fixed on the fly. That gives me hope. The issue with Draper is that he still has strong ties to guys on the current roster. That concerns me. I think he would make more sense than our AGM Ryan Martin though. Martin would be an awful hire.
Draper is scouting right now but he basically shadows Holland from what I have read. He is probably not ready but they could put a good support group in place to help him with the transition. There have been some very flimsy online rumors that Jim Nill could come back as GM. I haven’t been very impressed with his drafting in Dallas but that wouldn’t be awful. I don’t think it’s realistic but it’s more likely than Yzerman ever returning.
I think we will beat Philly Tuesday, if only because Philly isn’t overly great and it’s really hard to lose this many games in a row. Continuing to trot out Coreau would be nice though. I think we will win 4 of the final 10. That would put us at 71 points. That should keep us in the top 5. A win streak wouldn’t shock me though, because fuck us.
If they lose out they will likely be assured of a bottom 3 finish. Problem is that we still need the Coyotes and Sabres to win four games each.
Should hit 13 too. Philly and Washington are both desperate for wins. Toronto after that. Please no bullshit OT losses.
Mrazek is about to pick up win 5 as a Flyer which means we just need Philly to make the playoffs to turn that 4 into a 3.
DeToxRox i wouldn’t mind Nill coming back as part of the braintrust (if Draper indeed becomes GM, which I’m HIGHLY skeptical of.) The dynamic of the front office changed when he left, Kenny seems to have lost his magic. And I’ve read, and heard from people, that Nill may have been doing a lot of the heavy lifting when it came to talent evaluation.
The Red Wings and Pistons are a combined 3-17 over each of their last ten games. Talk about tank porn.
Nill was a huge piece of the puzzle, but his results in Dallas concern me. I should add that his hockey trades are actually quite solid, but his drafting and development haven’t been good.
Yeah, but the Pistons traded their first round pick and any possible future success away that would result in tanking in that stupid fucking trade.
It was a good run. I expect we heat up some to end the season. We won’t go on a massive win streak but we will win another 3-4 games.
Our commentators are insufferable. I know they can’t root for the Wings to lose but it’s amazingly obvious that rooting for the Wings is detrimental in the short and long term. Root for the young pieces to do well, for the tradable assets to do well, and for the games to be exciting and close.
If we're going to get points and hurt ourselves with the tank, I'm okay with it being in games where Larkin and Svechnikov combine for 3 goals.
Hopefully next year we completely tank and end up with the first pick. Can’t be drafting at 5-7th overall and expect to turnaround a franchise. Maybe this streak of suckitude will land us in the top 3 but it would of been nicer to start the tank earlier.
I think he would play his sophomore year in AA and then head to the NHL. He still needs to develop physically.
The dream: Draft Quinn, stays in AA Jack goes to UM Win NCAAs Wings suck ass, get 1st pick Draft Jack
Who is Jack? Am I an idiot? I'd looooove Tkachuk. Despite the criticism of our D prospects, I think we lack depth more than talent. Cholo, Hronek, Hicketts and Savijarvi are all up in 2-3 years. At that point all of the bad contracts would be off the books and we'd be looking at this FA class: https://www.capfriendly.com/browse/free-agents/2021/caphit/all/defense Cool piece of Svech:
Jack Hughes is Quinn Hughes brother. He will be the first pick next year. I think Chowski and Hronek have good upside but I still would guess that they are second pairing guys at best. Cholowski might be a top guy with the right partner and Hronek can quarterback a PP so there is value in both guys. I agree that behind the three that you mentioned that the well is dry. Sadly that is our organization depth in a nutshell.
I can't bring myself to root for them to lost, but dammit if dhalin wouldn't springboard this rebuild. I'm gonna be so pissed when Chicago or Edmonton wins the lottery
Yeah I am not shocked but I did think he might get moved up to an executive role. I didn’t see him leaving.
