MG2, your thoughts in Derek Holland as potential closer? He was throwing an easy 95 and is striking out 16.5 per 9 this spring. I foresee 25 saves at the deadline and then flipping him for a Double A, middle IF with projectable power who doesn't field very well or take a walk.
can’t throw a strike in the 3rd inning though. he’s clearly better than Mize right now, but also a couple years older.
I’m thinking Hinch won’t be taking Fat Joe on the opening roster to start the season. What’re your thoughts? Vinegar Strokes
Not as worried about Tork as I am Mize. Tork should be in A ball this year to start and has had no real minor league time. I'd hope he did better but that is a huge jump and I'm not worried.
same. Still a little disappointing that he can’t even hit AA or AAA hacks . It’s not like he’s facing great pitching in mop up time.
Meanwhile the #1 guy on this list is hitting 0.050 this spring, and the #2 guy has an ERA of 10. Please just fire Avila already.
I read online that Hinch likes Paredes and he may win starting job. That would move Candelario to 1st, and then either move Scoop or Paredes to 3rd. sounds like that Nunez guy they signed in offseason sucks. Haven’t heard his name mentioned at all
Pretty sure if he makes the team it will be over Harold Castro and Nunez. They aren't dumping Jones or Reyes, regardless of what we think of them.
They probably shouldn't dump them at this point. They also probably shouldn't have treated them like clear future assets, either, like they have for the last two years. I'm speaking more along those lines.
The opposite for me. Jones has talent and has moments where it seems like he's on the brink of something. The injury and contact issues are real, but he had a 126 wRC+ last year. That's worth keeping around at age 29 at that price and seeing what happens. We know what Reyes is, and what he's not. His skill set is not valuable. They could dump him for nothing today and I wouldn't lose a second of sleep worrying about it. He's the Harold Castro of outfielders.
this just shows us how far the rebuild is away from happening. Boyd has been worst pitcher in majors the past 18 months
